  1. Oak Hill has some new for $1,081.55: http://oakhillguns.com/pistol/eaa-tanfoglio/eaa-witness-elite-limited-9mm-hard-chrome-17-round-tanfoglio-pistol-600310.html but new ones only come with one mag, so shipped with two mags it might be a little higher, but not much. Oak Hill also has them in .40 for the same price, now that is the hot ticket for Limited!
  2. I'm going to offer a few items for sale, first I have a Limited .45 upper for sale with four mags (including one chrome mag with aluminum base pad), I'd like $550 shipped for the conversion with mags: I would be interested in a trade involving a 9mm or .40 upper; all offers will be considered.
  3. The 17L has a 6" barrel, the 34 has a 5.3" and the 17 has a 4.5", it's really up to you: a shorter pistol will move faster and will have a snappier recoil impulse, but a longer pistol will feel softer, you can also augment the snap vs soft with lighter or heavier bullets. I like a long slide with light bullets. How big and strong are you, a longer, heavier gun may be no dig deal for you...
  4. If you can knock them down with your 147 load what I'm talking about will work fine for you. Your load is what? 130PF? A 115 load has the same kinetic energy at 114pf, but don't take my word for it, see what works for you. The point of my comment was that with the comp you won't get satisfactory results until you hit about 140-150pf with the right powder and the gun will keep shooting flatter up until ~170-180pf. I have multiple Open guns and the best powders to choose from, but my choice for a steel match is no comp, 115s and 3gr of Clays. It's soft and fast!
  5. Nonsense! I'll bet dollars to pesos you won't get close to the edges I've pushed Besides, as long as it's pointed in a safe direction what's the worst that could happen?!?
  6. Seems pretty logical to me. If you remove the bulb, you just have a tube, not a flashlight. If the weight is legal, I don't really understand the desire to complicate things and make it harder for people to use existing readily-available items. Who benefits by forcing people to purchase a purpose-built 'weight' that was never called a light, even tho it might share the same parts? You're thinking way too rationally Mark by that rationale a Production shooter who assembles a Production legal gun from parts should be good to go, but we all know that's not the case; instead shooters are force to pay double retail for the hottest new Production gun just because it rolled out of the factory that way.
  7. If you want to shoot Open minor I'll tell you a secret that will save you lots of money: the comp won't do a damn thing unless you load slow powder close to major anyway (and it's going to shoot flatter as the PF goes up), so skip it. Your G34 with a dot, the lightest recoil spring which will still get the next round into battery, 115 bullets and about 3grs of fast powder will make a really sweet steel gun. Are you shooting shooting static steel or knockdown steel? If you need to knock down steel you might need to bump up the charge a few ticks, but don't think you need to shoot a heavier bullet to knock down the steel, it's all about kinetic energy (which is not the same as PF). Here's a nice calculator to help you see what I mean: http://www.firearmexpertwitness.com/customguns/calcnrg.html
  8. Bite your tongue!?! Versatility is the strength of Tanfoglio: The Italian Combat Legos!
  9. I second Omar's assessment The fine cocking serrations indicate it's an older upper, maybe from the '90s. I have a few slides with the super sight rear and the front milled out of the slide, it's a strange combo for sure, but they're out there. The green boxes are pretty old too. Interestingly enough I recently bought a brand new, standard length 9mm conversion upper with the wide cocking serrations, super sight rear and a front sight milled out of the slide. I would guess that upper was sold as a conversion kit, not as a production model.
  10. Where exactly are CZ's coming back? I keep looking for a shadow but they just aren't available and ones that pop on gunbroker are going for double retail. I talked to one of the biggest retail shops in the country two days ago, this place moves ALOT of handguns every day. A tiny handful are popping out here and there but he said all steel frame CZ's are 12-13 months. Check Oak Hill Guns and Kentucky Gun Company from time to time, they get them in and have great prices.
  11. I load in the 1.15"-1.16" range for my CZs/Tanfos.
  12. Although some guys like to oversimplify it, this is a complex physics problem, I found it easier to just start chopping hammers and shooting them I can tell you this: there is such a thing as too light where the hammer bounces off the FP and causes light strikes. But you're correct, in theory a lighter hammer should have more kinetic energy than a heavy one given the same hammer spring. There must be a reason all those fancy 2011s have chopped up hammers...
  13. I put some rubbing compount on a felt Dremel wheel to hit the sear.
  14. First off, the TS barrel and the Czechmate barrel are exactly the same length (I have them both in front of me right now), the only difference being the CM barrel is treaded M14x0.75 so if you need a replacement barrel you can easily get a TS barrel from CZ USA for $145 and the die off EBay for $6 ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-14mm-14-x-0-75-Metric-Right-Hand-Die-thread-M14-x-0-75mm-Pitch-/180985957720) or pay a gunsmith to thread it for you. CZ USA also had some CM barrels recently, but I don't remember the price. The also have the comps and some other parts.
  15. I too have seen this effect, but I don't think of it as dangerous, just the point at which there isn't enought oxygen in the case to get a complete burn. 10gr of SP2 gave me lower velocities than 9.5gr, but neither flattened the primers.
  16. What's a "normal length"? 1.125"? or 1.2"? My HS6 loads with 115s are most definitely compressed.
  17. That was my first though, but it's too wide for a Tanfo large frame.
  18. too big in the fore and aft dimension, without the ribs it might fit.
  19. If you drop the recoil spring down into the 8# range it should shoot fine with ~3gr and be crazy soft.
  20. Did they make large frame 9mm Glocks?!?
  21. I take it these are for steel? not tying to make minor are you?
