  1. I agree with Josh, I have a few ported only guns and I use 7.8gr of 3N38 under a 100gr bullet, nice and soft!
  2. I'll repost this, these are scans of literature which I found in a bunch of parts I got from an old gunsmith
  3. I wouldn't weld on the barrel, too much heat could wreck the accuracy. I've used JB Weld for a permanent thread locking solution with great success
  4. I'll be in Philly for a conference this month, so I'm planning to shoot the falling steel match at Lower Providence Rod and Gun Club Saturday, 4/16/22. Does anyone have any info on this match (round count, duration, participation)? Also, if any locals want to connect, feel free to reach out: 619-954-5539.
  5. I like the holes in my shortest gun, but not in the longer ones, can't tell you why
  6. I agree Jim Jones is your guy, with a 9mm slide and 38 chamber you'll need to shoot 38SC only, regular 38 super with jam on the breech face.
  7. @MuayThaiJJ If he can get his hands on a 9mm TS upper I can get him set up kneelingatlas@gmail.com
  8. As a business owner I can tell you the supply chain issues are miserable! We have critical components on backorder for six months and the customer just has to wait. I've been hunting down trucks all around the country and paying 42% more than I did last year.
  9. I'll be at a business meeting in Chicago 5/19, are there any matches to shoot 5/21 or 5/22?
  10. I had a 10mm long slide Witness I loved and the wonder finish is very durable. I'm pretty sure the cracked slide stories you're reading predate the wonder finish guns, but even if it does crack, I would feel confident EAA would replace it for you (they don't have the best customer service, but it's hard to argue with a crack). I don't think EAA sells the conversion kits on their website anymore, but if you call they might have the .38 top end you want.
  11. I'll be interested to hear how you like the Sebo comp
  12. My preference is based mostly on trial and error, I've never enjoyed the feel of guns with holes drilled further back. Besides bleeding gas with more barrel left before the bullet exits, the down force created has less leverage over the pistol.
  13. I like the holes closer to the muzzle, so I drill right through the comp. Chopping off the fourth port and combing the second and third would be an interesting experiment, the best effect would be the reduced muzzle weight. If you're looking to change the feel, I would go with option 2, number one will likely be hard to notice.
  14. Some pictures on passing the barrel through the front of the slide
  15. Tanfoglio triggers fit, plus CZ triggers can be drilled out to fit.
  16. Yes, you could drill out the holes to fit
  17. If you're not reloading don't bother with the comp, just slap an optic on a TSO and Rock n Roll! 170mm pads from Springer plus CZC spring/follower should get you 24-25 rounds in your big stick. If you love Open you'll buy a Czechmate and reloading press in no time!
  18. There are a few big differences here: First, powder factor is just a simple momentum formula used for the sport, when I comes to the longevity of gun parts I think kinetic energy is more useful. Since in calculating energy, velocity is squared, a lighter, faster bullets carries dramatically more energy than a slower, heavier bullet, so 9 major at 180pf and 40 at 180pf are very different, energy-wise. Second, slide momentum in a compensated pistol is different than in a non compensated pistol as the comp delays the unlocking of the slide, dissipating energy before it cycles. That being said, there's no hard limit to pf, and the bullet weight makes a difference. 200 rounds isn't that big a deal either way, but I keep my 115 loads under 180 for longevity of parts.
  19. I'm not an expert on the A01LD, but I'm happy to help, I'm in San Diego also
