  1. I've run both and prefer the sand grip tape on my competition XD's. I feel a better grip during the summer time in Florida. I put the rubber ones on my carry guns.
  2. How many rounds did the mags go through till you started having problems? Just curious to know when I should look at replacing mine. Thanks
  3. I'm right handed shooter and 95% of the time I'll shoot left to right. 1 reason is most stages you transition to next position for next set of targets. During the transition it forces me to make sure the gun is pointed down range. It also helps in the reload when I grab the new mag and tilt the run to the mag. I don't want to make the mistake and break 180 if I'm moving from right to left. Another reason is when facing up range. On the beep I turn clockwise and pivot on my right foot which keep the gun in the same spot during my draw. The first target I see is the left.
  4. I also use the CAEK kit for my 9 Pro. Huge difference. I did keep the stock striker spring though. I was getting some light primer hits. Was told to put the stock back in, and now no more issues.
  5. That website doesn't have any info, really, about anything......No prices, no pics, no info about what comes in the kit......... Is it all custom work? Do you have to send in the gun? Give him a call or email him. Great guy to talk to. He'll explain everything and how his works. No, you don't have to send in your gun if you don't want to.
  6. Started using Titegroup for 45 as it was mostly available. Didn't like the results I was getting. I would also get powder residue on my arms when shooting. Switched to Clays and never looked back, works great. Luckily I still have some Clays but won't last long. In my area TG has mostly been more available. I'm seeing 4756 but I see/read mixed reviews about it so I haven't tried it.
  7. I live in Florida so humidity is definitely an issue. I purchased a hygrometer similar to this: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/520099/lockdown-hygrometer-gauge I keep my safe around 50% using a couple Eva-Dry dehumidifiers. I don't have a basement so powder and primers are kept in separate rubbermaid canisters using dessicants in a closet in the house.
  8. Been using the HF Rock Tumber for a few months now words great. After I rinse off the cases, I take my air compressor and blow the extra water off then let them sit out to fully dry. No need for oven.
  9. My 34 has a http://johnnyglocks.com in it. I like it a lot. Short reset is nice and break is clean. I've heard great things on DK triggers also.
  10. Studlee

    Gen 3 or 4 34?

Was at a class with 2 others running Gen4's that we're having issues with slide coming off frame after firing. But these were 1st model Gen 4's. Problems were fixed right away. No issues with them anymore.
  11. Running 9mm? You may also want to try the 14lb and see if your gun runs it. My PF on my loads is 131 and the 14lb works great.
  12. I started out in IDPA first, as I wanted to practice more self defense type instead of run-n-gun style in USPSA. But now that they have changed the rules, some good, some bad, I would also suggest to start in either USPSA or Steel Challenge. I've been doing more of these than IDPA. IDPA is still good, I would definitely suggest doing a few matches later on. It's good to get a feel for all of them and shoot the ones you enjoy most.
  13. Wow, congrats! Hope to do my first classifier soon.
  14. +1 for Universal Shooting Academy's Futuristic Magnetic.
  15. The TTI basepads are nice. I have them for my STI. I watched a video interview a while ago of Taran. He has no plans of making anything for the XD's/XDm's. Since I also use mine for IDPA I went with Dawson EZ-Off's +100. They work great. https://www.dawsonprecision.com/CategoryProductList.jsp?cat=+DAWSON+PRECISION+PRODUCTS:Baseplates+For+Springfield+XDm%2C+EZ-Off%2C+Adds+Length%2C+Not+Capacity
  16. Had a Para stainless with idiot scratch also. Used a dremel tool with buffer wheel. Used the red/brown compound that came with the kit. Took it right out.
  17. Before I was running the EGW (7 round check) and LE Wilson case gauges. The LE Wilson was tighter than the EGW so I used it only for match ammo. Recently bought the Hundo gauges in 9. Works great, seems to be close as the LE Wilson. Rounds I've marked as bad on the Wilson also do not gauge well in the Hundo.
  18. Buddy of mine wet tumbles in the patio. He took a closet and used this kit with 2x4 and plywood to build a bench: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0030T1BRE/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3FXQWYWZW2XB1&coliid=I1Z42O0KSJHNKP He's able to fit a 650 with Casefeeder.
  19. I use Blade-tech and replace the adjustment screws with this: http://www.benstoegerproshop.com/Stainless-Steel-Thumb-Screws-Blade-Tech-Comp-Tac-p/thumb-screws.htm
  20. I get mine here: http://www.thebrassexchange.com/
  21. I like how fast it is once it read your finger. I also have a couple gunvaults and somtimes it's slow.
  22. Draw practice at home with a par timer. I start out slow. Once I get consistent, I speed up till I get that consistent, then speed up again.
  23. I tend to do this also. More so now that my dominant eye has a small cataract and I can't see the front sight that well. I'm now trying to switch to my non-dominant eye. At a match I do what BeerBaron does and go to the safe table and do a few dry-fire runs.
  24. Using SRT2 grip from Advanced Performance Shooting.
