  1. I like Paras. But the TJ Special sure isn't worth the $1,699 MSRP. Apparently the market agrees if this one's sitting there at $900. Not a bad deal at that price, I suppose.... My own solution? I bought an Armscor 9mm widebody for $389, built a new top-end in .40 (w/Kart barrel), gave it a trigger job and a Dawson magwell, and put Dawson base pads on a few Para mags for each caliber. It runs great! I like being able to pop the slide stop and switch it to 9mm (which takes about 20 seconds) for steel matches, then switch it back to .40 for USPSA.
  2. Hey Dan, your long lost cousin Doug Carden is planning to ride down with us! He even told me he might haul out the 625 for this match! A "Carden v. Carden" wheelgun showdown would be pretty cool, huh?
  3. The holidome one, the regular old-fashioned non-express one. 785-272-8040. $71.10 + tax if you have a AAA card.
  4. I think people assume I'm older because I possess wisdom beyond my years and always project a quiet air of mature dignity.
  5. That was truly a priceless moment in revolver history. I laughed so hard my stomach hurt when that happened. Here's a picture:
  6. Gary, you're planning to shoot USPSA Nationals this year, aren'tcha? Let's see....who else is out there.......hey, Rudi's on the east coast now somewhere, isn't he? Didn't I hear he'd moved to Virginia? Dillard? Timberlake? How about all our Okies?
  7. Holiday Inn West in Topeka. Pretty reasonably priced ($74?) and of course they have a bar.
  8. Dave, that's because you're a total loon. But I get it, so I must be one too.
  9. We are definitely a GO on the Iowa Revolver-Only Championship scheduled for October 8!! Put it on your calendars for sure. We'll get the final details arranged and have an entry form posted soon.
  10. Larry, thanks very much for keeping us in mind! It's going to be a great time. Linda says there are 15 wheels signed up already--given the Level III status we would sure like to hit that magic 20 in the division to create an opportunity to earn Nationals slots! C'mon revo shooters, if you haven't signed up already, this is going to be a real "Blast"!
  11. Thanks, guys!! My wife asked what I wanted for my birthday this year, and I said a plane ticket to PA so I could shoot the Summer Blast match. Lots of great stuff to look forward to this year, guess going over the hill isn't so bad after all.....
  12. Linda says we have 15 signed up so far......with 4 months to go, that sounds pretty promising. I'll bet we can find five more wheels to shoot the Blast! However, the key will be to get them signed up before the match sells out. So c'mon out there, gotta be five more revolver guys who want to be part of this!! Mass. guys--are you all in?? Ted, how 'bout the crossover roundgunners from eastern PA (and elsewhere)? Hop? Keith? Tom? Everyone? Somebody needs to call Jerry and Elliot.
  13. Sam's had some tendonitis problems in his shooting arm lately, but I hear it's getting better. However, during his convalescence period, he's been putting quite a few rounds through his new toy, the "Benny Blaster." I just want to make sure he knows we want him out there shooting the wheelgun with us at all these great matches coming up!
  14. Dave, you're going to need to call every bar and convenience store on the west side of Topeka and tell them to stock up heavy on Coors Light.
  15. Yep, I had the exact same problem with mine, and had to file the dovetail thing before it would even fit in the slot. If I remember right, I also wound up filing off the front of the SDM sight so it wouldn't hang way off the front and look weird. Works good now, though.... Don't work on it while you're tired.
  16. I've said it before--this is not like some episode of "Touched by an Angel" where you drop in for a little while, guide all of us poor confused souls to the way of the revolver, then after things are really going great, you quietly move on. I don't care if you are Master of the Bottomfeeder or whatever you are these days, put the frickin' Limited gun back in the frickin' safe, quit barking from the porch, and get back out here and shoot with us!! LOOK at all these great USPSA matches where there is going to be great competition in Revolver this year, all over the country!! Seriously, you do not want to miss out on this after working so hard to promote this division. C'mon, sign up for some stuff.
  17. Absolutely--on both counts. Although we might put you guys to work helping us set up the Iowa match! Dan, I'll save a spot for you in the 300C for the Topeka road-trip. Done deal. Cliff and Luke, you're welcome to stay here at the Compound. This is going to be one helluva year for USPSA wheelgunnin'! We gotta get Hopalong healed up and back shooting revo with us right away.
  18. Not only that, but it was temp sensitive in reverse of what we see with most powders! I used 452AA in heavy-bullet .45 pin loads back then, but I remember hearing of IPSC guys icing their ammo down in coolers to make sure it would make power factor! Weird stuff.
  19. From Linda Chico: Now hear this: The Sunday AM Revolver squad is Full. Carmoney, Perdue, Walsh, Fay, Carden, Smith, Hester & Russell are in. If interest warrents, I will be happy to set up a second Revolver squad (or any other special interest squads for that matter). I am all about making shooters happy with the squadding. Linda Chico (L-2035) 2006 Summer Blast Statistician OK guys, still plenty of room left on Revo Squad #2, or maybe jump on Sat. PM with Rob V., etc.!
  20. Thanks, Linda! Keep the wheelgun entries comin', plenty of room on Revo Squad #2!! It's gonna be great!
  21. Just teasin' a little Dano, all trigger time is good trigger time. Hell, if you can handle a wheelgun with an old-fashioned steel cylinder (you know, the non-Ti kind with so much torque they try to jump right out of your hands), major loads won't bother you one bit.
  22. Sam C. and I will definitely be there! Not to be mercenary, but last year they gave away a gun prize (CZ is a fantastic sponsor of this match) for high overall in each division, and a gun for the winners of each division classification with at least three shooters in the class. If the prize table is equally rich this year, that should be a great motivation to get lots of roundgunners (at least three per class, M through D) at this match. They also gave away a bunch of stuff via drawing, Sam won himself a Caspian 1911 frame which is being built into a longslide L-10 gun for him as we speak. Even more important, it was a challenging and very fun match to shoot, and the same people are running it at the same range again this year. I'm signing Sammy and I up right away. I expect the match to fill up fairly quickly, given how well it was received last year!
  23. .....but according to the word I'm hearing, he's been practicing with those little bitty floofer ICORE bullets!
