  1. As I have mentioned in the past, I reseat the primers on all my match revolver ammo with a K&M hand-priming tool. It's an extra step in the ammo prep process, but well worth it to ensure ignition reliability in my competition revolvers. I'm not a huge volume shooter these days, so it's not a big deal--and it gives me something to do on those rare occasions when I have time to sit down and watch TV.
  2. The armed bouncer with the bad attitude didn't bother me. But I was getting a little freaked out by Pat suddenly being so technologically proficient. Around where he lives in Ohio, most people get excited when they see a genuine flush toilet.
  3. Craig, the guy from Oz is Mike McCarthy of MSM Industries. I'll PM you his contact info (not sure if it's still good, but it's gotta be worth a try). It's a nice product.
  4. Bob also shot a very strong match at Memphis this past weekend. I think the old fart just keeps getting better and faster every year!
  5. Accurate Plating & Weaponry hard-chromed an aluminum framed custom 1911 for me a few years back. It looks great! Some platers won't touch aluminum guns, some will. It's a little more expensive, I'm pretty sure because they have to plate it with electroless nickel first. I also have a Commander that got looking pretty shabby, so I had a guy bead-blast the black anodizing off the frame, which left a soft matte silver-color that looks really good and has held up perfectly fine on a carry gun. (He left the rails and interior surfaces--the areas where the hard anodizing might actually be doing something--alone.)
  6. Hopalong just sent me this digital photo of the microwave dish his crew finished installing today. (It's the top one in the photo, in case you were wondering.) Looks great Sam, hope the alignment job goes well tomorrow.
  7. Careful, though. Too many shooters take this concept and use it as a reason to justify using a weak floppy-armed hold on the gun. And those shooters never progress.
  8. That's right--the third 100-round box of .45 230s always goes over the 11-pound per-person limit. Sam and I are going to try slipping in some extra ammo into another spot in our suitcases--this has always worked for me in the past. (It's not illegal on domestic flights, by the way--but merely an airline policy matter.) Anybody who's driving to the match, it would be really great if you could bring a little extra ammo along just in case any of us guys who are flying in get caught with too much ammo and show up short on rounds. We should be OK, but you just never know......
  9. Hello feersum, We actually discussed this issue fairly thoroughly in this thread: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=92090 Feel free to drop me a line if I can provide any further help.
  10. With no TV cameras around, Bagakis will probably back out now. He's a true media maven.
  11. Chris, I have everything I need to complete your new open rig except the C-More. It's been on order for awhile--hopefully it won't take too much longer and we can get you crankin'!
  12. This little love song is also worth watching: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cV1dyV9d_1k
  13. Not necessarily. The 99-series classifiers, for example, use a Revo division HHF that is simply a percentage of the HHF for Limited. Some of them cannot be cleaned with a Revo because of the extra reloads that are required. Some of the later classifiers are based off real match performance, and in many cases those wind up with HHFs that are unrealistically low. It's a big mess. That's why I pay no attention to classification in Revo, it means very little.
  14. Devon, stop right there. These people who are pushing you to get married are not your friends. I've been married for 21 years, so I believe I'm fully qualified to speak on this subject. Just promise me you'll watch this before you do anything: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1GjyrQiSRs
  15. Generally speaking, with most handgun rounds in our velocity range (assuming major p.f. stuff), if you're perfectly zeroed at 15 yards, you will be roughly zeroed again at 50 yards. Anything between 15 and 50 yards you should be hitting slightly high, anything beyond 50 (but still shootable with a handgun) you will be hitting a little low. Bottom line--a gun that is correctly zeroed at 15 yards should give you essentially a dead-on hold at all practical distances, for most practical purposes.
  16. Bob Perdue (the mad genius of Revolver Division) always has a few extra North Mountain Moonclip Holders with him. I'll go out on a limb here and tell you that I'm sure Bob would let you borrow one for a test-drive at Memphis.
  17. For logistical reasons, Cliff needs to shoot with certain people that were not able to make it on Squad 16 before it filled up. So in order to free up a couple spots for Cliff's peeps, I'm going to peel Sammy and me off Squad 16 and start another squad. Anybody who wants to join us, jump right on there!
  18. That's a very good point, Chris. Whether these efforts are being initiated from HQ or from individuals in the field, it's a very positive thing for our sport to acquire such positive mainstream media coverage.
  19. ....but not to obtain a classification of GM. That one must be earned. Those guys can legitimately say they shot a GM level match at the USPSA Nationals. You have to keep in mind that the high hit factors on the revolver classifiers are so screwed up they do a very poor job of reflecting true shooting ability or projected match performance. Getting a 95%+ hit factor on some of the classifiers is totally impossible in Revo Division (yes, even for Jerry!), and yet on other classifiers it's relatively easy to get a 100% score (even for shooters who actually shoot around a B level). That said, for the past couple years there has been a problem with class inflation in Revolver Division. It depends far too much on how many classifiers a person shoots, and which particular classifiers he shoots.
  20. Am I the only one who's thinking that IDPA should add a division for ankle revolvers??? I can see it now: Ankle Revolver Snub division -- ARS (pronounced "arse").
  21. I thought for sure this would be a thread about Jerry Miculek.....
  22. This is going to be frickin' great!!
  23. I think reserving the banquet room sounds like a great idea.
