  1. I have some 9mm and .223 Rem specific polymer ammo boxes. There is no extra room for the catridges to move around and it looks very neat inside the box. They have spoiled me! So now I am looking for a .40 S&W specific ammo box. All of what I have found so far is labeled 40/45/10mm, so they have a bunch of wiggle room, but laterally and verticaly. Anyone seen or heard of 50 or 100 round plastic ammo boxes specifically for .40 S&W (or even 10mm)? Thanks in advance, J
  2. You might try the Winchester "Win3Gun" ammo. - Major PF - reverse draw cup, like a hollowpoint for accuracy - no exposed lead in base and non toxic primer - cleanest burning powder I have ever seen (in the 9mm version)!!! The brass looks cleaner on the inside after shooting than my brass does after tumbling!!!
  3. I always ask for the freshest guns and you should always check they're expiration dates. I always grab the gun behind the first on on the shelf, they have fresher dates on them, just like milk jugs.
  4. I am pretty happy with Titegroup... But I also have an 8 lb keg to work with. I think right now, the best powder is the ONE YOU CAN FIND. There are lots of powders that are appropriate for all three cartridges. Just realize that powders that are popular with .45 are often quite fast burning and with .40 those faster burning powders will give you less "room for error" when going for major power factor. As an example I don't think it's possible to make 40 major with WST without exceeding max loads (or at least being damn close) but it works good!
  5. Flanigun, I read somewhere that if you tighten the mag tube extension then back it off 1/8-1/4 turn before installing the barrel/tube clamp you get rid of POA/POI issues. Any thoughts on that? Cajunautoxer, I was thinking about a shorter Nordic tube... But what do I care if Its longer than the barrel, only takes a few seconds to wipe off. When I get an 18.5" "tactical" barrel I will get a different extension!
  6. On a more serious note... I recently purchased a Mossberg 930 Signature Series Patrick Flanigan "Rhythm" shotgun. Love that gun, not as refined as most 'spenive guns, but neither am I. I'm asking the clerk about it, what internal differences there are from the stock 930... Upon examination I am told that it's a recoil gun instead of gas operated 930. How did he surmise this? He could see the receiver was milled for the gas op rod, but couldn't see the rod. Bought the gun anyway, upon initial disassembly, there are two short gas op rods on a rather beefy gas system.
  7. That's not funny, that's normal and rational behavior. I was asking myself what was funny about that as well. A real man can wear a pink shirt, and shoot a plastic gun It's not "pink" it's "salmon" I'm man enough to shoot a Tupperware gun. I love my M&P Pro and my Shield. But I draw the line at pink, err, Salmon shirts... They don't match my skin tone!
  8. I guess I'll throw in my range report... I picked up a Patrick Flanigan "Rhythm" Signature Series 930 at the local Sportsman's Warehouse. I am so happy with the gun it's ridiculous. Good price point, decent trigger, 4 chokes, FO sight, 28" barrel, and a 12 round tube for kicks! (Also comes with setup for a 4+1). I bought it mostly to shoot clays with (never done much of that in the past) and figure it'll see some 3 gun shoots sooner or later as its my only shotgun, but I'm in it for the fun more than the competition. It has fired about 200 rounds of mixed light to medium bird loads in less than 2 weeks and has been flawless. It's a little heavy for my wife (I've got her doing shoulder exercises) but even she says it recoils soft and smooth. Definitely a better shotgun than I am a shooter, and just as unique.
  9. AZonePrecision, I also had "problems" with to much neck tension on my 9mm die, so I backed it out a bit. I don't see this as any different than adjusting the "shoulder bump" on a rifle die or just about any other die adjustment. Now if I could get my .380 ACP die to resize tighter I'd be set.
  10. Doh! 200 rounds per hour, not minute.
  11. I have tried some 115 gr Rainiers, they were ok, I guess. I have been shooting a lot of 130 gr Berry's lately (with a KKM barrel) fantastic, nearly as accurate as my Montana Gold 124 JHPs! Regarding plating in .40 S&W... My M&P Shield loves 155 gr hollow base... My M&P Pro HATES it, (the only load where my Shield is more accurate than my Pro.) Regarding the thickness of the plating... As long as it doesn't come off when shooting, does it matter? In rifle calibers, manufacturers produce as thin a jacket as they can get away with as it aids in accuracy.
  12. RammerJammer must be loading his ammo after taking some meth, haha. I did just check my speed on reloading some 9mm, and my best rate was about 200 rounds per minute. That's about all you'll get at a reasonable pace. And don't forget there is brass prep and setup/cleanup time to consider.
  13. Can't wait to hear a range report!
  14. At Cabelas today, the guy behind the counter sounded like a used car salesman, comparing an FNS 45 to an FNX 45... "This one is basically a gun that they made all tactical and this one is designed to be completely tactical." Yep, I'm sure the folks over at FNH would be rolling their eyes at that perfect description of their two pistol lines. Later on I overheard him say something like, "it's definitely more tactical... Is it $300 worth of more tactical? I dunno, that's up to you."
  15. Maybe if you'd initially said that he was pointing it at people this would have gone differently. I tried to ask earlier for more details (and you answered by telling me to figure it out myself) because removing the gun from the holster is significantly different from pointing it at people. You're wondering how anyone could criticize you for sending a guy home for pointing a loaded gun at a crowd while I (and I suspect some of the others) was at least considering the possibility of an overreaction to someone removing his gun from the holster and controlling it in a safe manner. There is virtually no way to pull a gun out of a holster, surrounded by people, remove a magazine, etc without sweeping a good portion of those same people. Also, if you read the post I never said I DQ'ed him. I was just a shooter back then. But the end result would be the same if it happened on my watch. If there's just a couple square feet of clear ground around my right foot, I can unholster, remove mag, and show clear without flagging anyone but an earthworm. Now certainly if the guy flagged someone, that's a safety violation. I have to remind myself that not everyone grew up with the benefit of a gun enthusiast farmer for a father or spent time in the Corps. If handled properly, the guy can be taught to be safe in about 3 minutes. On the other hand, if he's a complete wanker then it won't matter and he shouldn't be there. I can't say which is right for the circumstance (because I wasn't there), but I feel like we get so wrapped up in the rule book that we prevent ourselves from being good ambassadors sometimes.
  16. If you mean the Lee classic cast turret, I have one and am very happy with it. Good price and does everything short of being a full on progressive press. If you are just getting into reloading I would definitely recommend it as a first press. It can operate as a single stage press for learning each function. And it can be used with its auto advance feature to greatly speed up production. It's not the the best press in the world, but possibly the most versatile press for the money.
  17. This is exactly what's wrong with our "safety" procedures. They force us to do things that the rule book thinks is unsafe.Instead of allowing CC guns hot so long as they stay holstered and concealed, we now make people load and unload in their cars in the parking lot or on the side of the road. I've never understood why the local range "Ben Avery" allows a hot range, with guns holstered, and is completely safe, yet when an event comes to their venue all of a sudden cold ranges are mandated.
  18. My wife LOVES our motorcycle. I don't think she'd let me sell it even if I wanted to. It's a Buell XB-12X Ulysses. Great for 2 up riding, I have 3 piece luggage, and it's as happy on dirt roads and fire trails as it is on tight twisty roads. What's the down side? The motor. It's hot as hell from 0 to about 70 mph, but that Harley based motor and tall gearing slows it down. Maybe it's for the best, it keeps me out of trouble, but I still have fun on it. I hope you find a responsible rider for your Suzuki.
  19. I suppose this could be added to a 2 year old MP Pro? Anyone have an idea on a part number for the revised trigger bar?
  20. It sounds like you've hit the nail on the head with a COL being a hair to long causing slightly out of battery issues. Just to rule it out... What weight recoil spring are you using, and how fresh is it? My KKM barrel for M&P only allows about 1.160 before touching rifling, so I load at 1.150" with the same 124gr MG JHP that you are using. If I switch to 130 gr Berry's (Hodgdon has published load data!) I can load to the limit of the magazine, nearly 1.190". Long story short... Either shorten your loads a bit, or switch bullet profile. Also, bullet shape/profile could be the reason that your gun doesn't like mid length MG JHP but likes short length Gold dots.
  21. My Pro shoots low as well. It used to shoot REALLY low, until I learned the trigger (shorter and crisper than my Glock). After a little bit of supported shooting I now believe the remaining lowness (very little) is due to my sights. Basically same POI for .40 and 9mm conversion. So, I COVER the target with the fiber optic dot. Center of dot on center of target is bullseye for me.
  22. Since you are going beyond SAAMI specs, I would highly recommend loading as long as you can for pressure reasons. I load my M&P with 9mm KKM barrel up to 1.150" with MG 124 gr HP and can go almost to 1.195" with Berry's 130 gr RN. Your barrel may be different and I've never loaded 9mm for Glock, but I would think the longer the better.
  23. Is the deep chamber standard on the KKM? Or did you request this special? Don't know if its standard or not. I did't special order it. I just noticed my KKM loads are to long for the chamber on my 9mm shield.
  24. Ditto! Plus an Apex USB and my Shield is a tack driver!
  25. I have a KKM 40 to 9mm conversion barrel in my Pro and love it. It's got a deep chamber, so I can load 9mm longer than OEM barrels allow (limiting factor with round nose bullets is the magazine).
