  1. Unfortunately I'm all too willing to lend people stuff and all to forgetful. Left my gloves at the range one day; waiting there the next week for me. Left my brass bag at a match the match the next day it was waiting for me. Lent out a couple mag pouches then decided to leave early. My mag pouches got passed around until the finally made it back to me. Pretty awesome that the shooting community, for the most part, is super honest and willing to help out others. All good stuff, I'm definitely glad and proud to be a part of it.
  2. I have the limited aluminum on my 40 and the ESP aluminum on my 9 and I am not entirely certain that I can tell the difference between speed and feel of them. The limited gives the gun a little more prop up when doing table starts and is definitely more forgiving of sloppy reloads; but I have found that a sloppy reload is slow regardless of how much the magwell accommodates it. All that said; if money isn't an issue and you can get it, go with the limited black brass the added weight will balance out the polymer gun and the larger funnel will give a little more cushion for reloads.
  3. I have used the .357 125g JHP bullets in my .356 barreled 38 super for years. Never any problems and excellent accuracy for my gun. YMMV. Thanks, my barrel is .355 and the Montana gold 357 SIG. Bullets are .355 as well. I was more curious about the nose shape possibly affecting feeding the diameter is good and the weight is right in line with all the data I have for the gun I was just curious as to how the shape might come into play or if I should just play it safe and go with the 121 IFP's and work them up
  4. I haven't read the rule book too closely, but its hard to imagine that there isn't something already in place to cover this issue. I would think that by putting it into the stage rules/brief/description/procedure that you shall not cross fault lines on a stage that would pretty well take care of the argument and then it would only be a matter of assessing the penalties associated with that portion of the stage procedure.
  5. It's far from redundant. Discussing the 'ins and outs' of rules are what make IPSC and USPSA what they are. The sports are evolving and healthy constructive conversations in regards to rules, equipment or whatever keeps the sport fresh. Don't get caught in a rut Dang, I wish I would have found this thread earlier so I could have beat you to that one. But I can see IF this rule were to someday be proposed to be put into the rules I'm sure there would be plenty of people with plenty of reasons for and against this prospective rule and a decision would not be made without proper consideration as to the full ramifications of such a rule. This could help the less fortunate clubs that have 4 walls total and 1 barricade to be able to make more intricate or challenging or fun stages that would normally be impossible to do from a materials standpoint. Many ways to look at it and many reasons for why one person wants it one way or another. Interesting to see how many people were outraged at the possibility of not being able to jump from lane to lane in a CoF rather than moving along the faults.
  6. Bummer WSF didn't work for you, that's what I use and it works out for cold since its reverse sensitive and gets faster in winter (not a huge swing 65isf F 1040-1050 fps and at 10ish F 1075-1090 fps) it helped the gun cycle more reliably with the cold. My load: 124 gr MG JHP 4.5 gr WSF OAL 1.095" Shot with M&P 9mm 5" stock barrel. It'll probably get a touch faster when the KKM barrel get put in. Another shooter up here (Alaska) likes WST with 124's and 147's not sure on the charge weights though.
  7. Any thoughts on using the 125 gr for. 357 sig or the 121 gr IFP's? I just want to get something that I can run for sure through a 38 super open gun. I know the 121's will work but I have data for 124/5 gr stuff already worked up. Kind of a bummer hey don't have the countdown like they do on some of the others it would be nice to have some sort of announcement on the site rather than just having to refresh the page every couple hours. Lol
  8. With all the craziness going on now and 9mm availability is pretty much non existent. I was thinking about buying some of the 125 gr JHP bullets from Montana gold but they are marked for 357 sig and I'm not sure if the bullet shape will lend itself to being run through a 38 super schuemann barrel. I need something and I prefer the JHP as opposed to the CMJ style bullet
  9. I bought a case when they were up and if they happen not to work I'll just trade em off for other 50ish grain bullets that do work. I hope they do though considering there isn't anyone else with this kind of quantity being chunked out now with all the craziness.
  10. Ya, I figured as much. It's what I've been running this far and my reloads are definitely slower than my competitiors. They do have a lot more experience with 3-gun so that is understandable but still much faster. I have the easy loader gate and they helps but I think if I'm going to continue in the sport and start traveling I will more than likely be upgrading within the next year to a versa or m2 whichever I can get the best deal on. But that'll have to wait for now with all my recent AR stuff purchases I'm a little tapped out. Haha
  11. I've used my 870 and my 1100 that are set up for 3-gun to shoot skeet and had a blast. The range I go to is a members range and the shotgun side can be used during non normal operating hours ( which is when I usually like to go) so I am able to shoot how I like with out having to worry about "shaming" our game by loading up and blasting away. I use it as practice since my club is wanting to do more movers and clays in the 3-gun matches. I figure if the people that run $20,000 or more custom guns don't like it, it's their problem. I'm not interfering with their leagues and I am not hurting the equipment. BUT! Before anyone tries to lecture me on how this is appauling behavior and I am being a poor representative of 3-gun/multigun/uspsa etc... I do not participate in any regulated leagues or join others that are shooting the sport how it is regulated to be done and shoot in this manner. I do this by myself or with another shooter out there for the same reason on a field that no one else is using and again not during regular operating hours with the general shooting public. OPINION: I think that as long as you are safe and responsible while shooting, doing something out of the norm is perfectly fine. How many of you would chastise a shooter at the rifle range doing a full auto dump into the berm if he/she did it safely and didn't interfere with the other shooters at the range. That's how he/she enjoys shooting and as long as it doesn't impede other shooters ability to use the range as well and they don't damage anything, more power to 'em and I'm glad they're made of money to pay for all that ammo and gun.
  12. All support hand if I can help it. Pistol: support hand AR: support hand Shotgun: support hand (slugs are done with shooting hand just to prevent any mix up in a match) M1A: support hand Hunting rifle: support hand (old savage 110 dl left handed bolt) Lucky for me having such a continuity of motion
  13. What's the verdict on the rem 870/1100? I really like the ones I have but the more I get into this sport the more I'm seeing that they are the red headed step children. Is it worthwhile to hollow out a Remington or would I be money ahead to just decommission the ole 1100 and sell it for seed money on another shotty? I do alright but feeling the difference from mine to the versa and M2 I'm not sure it's really a competition more like a charity case. I know; practice, practice, practice and I'll get there, but all other things being equal, gun for gun, can the 1100 compete?

  16. What's his charge weight with AA2230? I just picked up 8 lbs. to try. He's running 24 grains @ 2.230" I can't remember the exact fps but it was around 26-2700 out of a jp 18" barrel
  17. the backstrap stippling allowance is supposed to be like changing grips or mainspring housing on a 1911 since they are "interchangeable" and not a permanent part of the gun its allowed for SSP as soon as you hit the iron on any other part though its right into ESP. But with ESP you can get the speed shooters specialties magwell and base pads stipple the crap out of the frame and its basically like running a limited gun. i definitely like being able to run it for 3-gun tactical and ESP without having to change anything in between. and back to the original topic: I see this as a nice attempt but this looks like a "tactical" competition gun, I would still change out the trigger (gotta have that FSS kit) the front sight, magwell it and stipple a ton of other stuff as well as give a good relief cut under the trigger guard. If they had a threaded barrel with this it would be a 9/40 version of the FN FNP 45 tactical. cool gun but unless I'm running a suppressor the sights are kind of useless. just rock a good fiber optic front and you can use the window as a rear if your dot goes down. that big ass rear seems like a pain. But if it floats some boats more power to 'em
  18. I have a full size 9 that will occasionally not strip off the top round when running 10 in a mag instead of the full 17 on my normal capacity mags, and it will almost never do it while using my hicap mags when they are loaded to 10, when they're full it works great but when going in production or esp i have to be careful not to auto forward or i may get the loudest click ive ever heard. nothing like staring at a gun like its a dog turd in the middle of a stage then having to rack it and move on. had a couple of stages where this happened and i was thrown off for the rest of the stage and ruined the run. now i make an effort to seat positively but not hard enough to auto and slide release at the same time. works better for consistency and knowing it will bang every time i squeeze. the pro 40 does it everytime even with only one in the mag, maybe bigger bullet/case diameter allowing the slide to strip properly. not sure, but just to be on the safe side, if i ever go to slide lock on the 40 i do the same thing as i do with my full size 9 so i don't get into the habit again.
  19. Why isn't there a like button on enos? Also, Ben b i like the quotes you have on your signature deal. Good stuff
  20. Haha, well if that's the case I'm SOA as far as the slide weight is concerned. Next range session I'll bring out some other springs and fool with the grip tension a bit and see what happens. In any case it will be good to try something different especially if it works out better for my shooting.
  21. For sure, especially when it's not nearly as pleasant outside for shooting. Haha. Another guy I shoot with regularly shoots 2230 and pretty much said its the only way to go for bulk. He loads it with 55gr Montana golds. FWIW, With his firebird precision AR he's been getting steady sub moa groups, but this is with a full on match custom gun. Which none of my blaster are near.
  22. Good to know, bummer though. 300 blackout is pretty BA but I suppose a tad impractical for sports. Probably not going to stop me from trying to put one together anyhow. But it'll be for funsies now, which is ok by me
  23. I must be bass ackwards on my reasoning then. I had a lot of weight taken off my 5" 40 and it was kicking the muzzle up during rapid recoiling or for doubles or bill drills. I went all the way up to a 20 lb'er to get it back in line. Now the sights come to rest back on (or close enough) to original point of aim. I figured less reciprocating mass would make it so that all the inertia was dumped into the frame and the lighter spring would not have the force needed to return the slide with equal force for consistent follow ups therefore requiring a more powerful recoil spring. Maybe this just worked better for me? Thoughts? Forgot to mention I don't have the final weight reduction but it was a 3/8th slot about 2"ish long on both sides of the slide. It now feels lighter then the 4.25" slide
  24. Shot a little bit of the bl-c(2) that I have and had pretty decent groups about 2" at 50yd for a relatively quick 10-shot group. Decent impulse on my 14.5" carbine. Didn't have my 16" mids with me that day. But I figure since the 14.5 is the most sensitive to cold weather cycling it would only get better with the other two. Unfortunately my chrono didn't want to work with the cold temps and took a dump on me just as I was about to fire the first string Load: 55gr JHP Sierra (nice bullet but a little spendy for bulk) 24gr bl-c(2) (Lyman middle load to keep away from any potential high pressure issues) 2.260" oal (a little long for pmags might shorten with chrono to test, to avoid potential feed/mag issues) Very light crimp (maybe .002 -.004" change in neck size)
  25. Does anyone know how to get lower test quantities? I know gunstop usually has some but they are currently out. I'm trying to get some of each type to test accuracy and bulk load viability. I have been shooting fed xm193's til now so I'm pretty sure the fmj's will be fine but if I can squeak out a 1moa load to 200yds with the jhp's I think it will be worth the extra cost.
