  1. When shooting two (2) rimfire guns, I choose the rifle then the pistol. When shooting RF and CF handguns, I choose the rimfire then the centerfire..
  2. Check with John Alchin at Alchin Mounts. His are as low on the receiver as it gets.
  3. Yes. Delays due to ammo jams and people not helping out makes it a long day. We bend but we won't break.
  4. The experienced shooters show up prepared. Equipment and mentally. New comers are nervous and most of their equipment isn't reliable. Lots of ammo/jams. Finally. It's always the same people painting and helping out. Usually 5 or 6 of the 12 to 15 person groups.
  5. At our Club, we hold 6 Stage SC Matches which we allow all contestants to enter, and when we host the 8 stage events, we don't encourage it as much. We have found that the less experienced shooters slow the rotations down considerably and the veterans stop coming to the big Matches. Just as a thought.
  6. At my club, we are instituting a Max PF for all Steel Challenge Matches. Some targets are too close for major loads to be fired at on a regular basis. Sooner or later, there will be a problem due to those rounds Hitt Steel plates. It's just some we feel needs to be implemented.
  7. Why would you want to shoot hot ammo like the 38 Super you mentioned when you can, according to the rules, load them down to a comfortable level and get less recoil. Sometimes, I think we all over think things.
  8. We're hoping they put the politics aside and add Revolver Rimfire as it's own class. I'm sure more people will shoot it than they think. Let's try it and see where it goes.
  9. I'll have to agree. I bought two Volquartsen LW rifles. One with the Stainless receiver and one with the Aluminum coated receiver. The stainless one with the natural finish ran flawlessly while the aluminum one took a break-in period which convinced me to sell it off.
  10. Listen. I'm a business owner too. Actually, I own three, although i dont know what that has to do with this, but, lets go there. If I gave my clients a product that they paid top dollar for and then told them to put it through a trial period to get it to where you paid me to bring it to in the first place, they wouldn't be a customer for long. I understand that CWA is a great product, but hear this. Last year at the ECSC. I witnessed 3 competitors have jamming problems with their equipment on a regular basis. All three were using CWA, and yes, they all said "it's not broken in yet". You may accept that, I don't. For the last time. This is my opinion.
  11. I have had many custom handguns built over the years. Mostly revolvers but a few 1911's. Never did any of the gunsmiths tell me there was a break in period. I really don't get having to put almost 1000 rounds through a gun to get it to operate 100%. What happens is it doesn't? Again, this is just my thoughts but something I feel pretty strongly about.
  12. Really? Clip or magazine, my friends gun is a complete CWA with the GSG "magazines" and yes, he was told that by CWA.
  13. I have a friend that recently bought a CWA for SC competition. He can not shoot a full clip without a jam no matter what ammo he uses, which he was told should be HV only. He was also told that he needs to run 500 to 1000 rounds through the gun to "break it in". BS. I have had many guns built for SC that worked great right off the bench. Again, it's buyer beware.
  14. If you contact them, they will build it to what your needs are. They did the same for me, and I haven't had any issues. Good luck.
  15. Put a good 10/22 barreled action into a Weiland chassis and it will feel a little like a PCC set up. Try it out.
  16. Kidd Rifles with their 1.5lbs competition trigger and the 15 round magazines that come with the .22 precision rifle work great for Steel Challenge and Rimfire Challenge.
  17. You would probably avoid a lot headaches if you just install a Kidd trigger instead. Check them out on his website. He offers both 1 and 2 Stage triggers that are the best in the industry.
  18. Not everyone would agree with that advise. I bought 2 Volquartsen rifles 2 Kidd rifles and 2 Volquartsen pistols. I now have 1 Volquartsen rifle and 2 Kidd rifles. Got rid of the ones that kept jamming and wouldn't feed CCI Select and Std. Velocity which I learned Volquartsen is built to shoot. Just stating my experience with both.
  19. I use a Kidd Rifle with the Ruger clear magazines and with a little routine TLC, everything works 100% come match time.
  20. Contact Kidd. Best triggers in the industry. Build it complete online, or get a barreled action for your choice of stock. Don't forget. His top of the line has a rear tang on the chassis that is removable, but then you defeat the purpose.
  21. Volusia County holds many matches during the year, including USPSA.
  22. 9mm by far. No PF in Steel Challenge so puff loads that work the gun are all that's needed.
  23. Reach out to Dave Parker at Revo Gear. He makes a holder you wear on your belt that holds 6 mags.
