Well I shot two local matches this weekend. Wildcat Creek on Saturday and South Central. If you put both of them together, it would have made a nice major match. South Central had some nice larger field courses with tighter shots. Wildcat had some hosey stages and a large steel stage with 40 yard steel. Overall it was a good weekend. I executed 3 risky stage plans Sunday at South Central. It was cool to actually pull off some riskier stage plans, confidence builder for sure. I've loaded my last lot of Open ammo for a while. I've got ammo loaded up to get me through A5. I'll have enough powder to practice and shoot the Indiana Section match, but not to last through the summer. So June 16th I'll be a Production guy. I'll probably pick up the Open rig late August. Maybe I'll just shoot Production at the Indaina match...

Well I've been hitting the range pretty hard this week. I figured up my round count for the year... 7000 rounds and it's not even summer yet.. I miscalculated my round count for the year! I've noticed that expectation can consume confidence and the better I get, the more I notice what I'm doing wrong.
  4. There are definitely times when moving and shooting targets is appropriate, and learning how to do it is important. I recently have put an emphasis on doing the same type of excercises. I just run the drills with time included in the drills. I bet you'll find you can go a lot faster than you think and still get acceptable hits. Also, play with different target difficulties and distances. That also plays a huge role in it. If the target is too difficult, pause for that one. Then start moving for the next one. Good stuff!
  5. Accuracy and sight seeing is meaningless if you are doing it too slow. At a minimum I would recommend practicing in a "match" mode. Totally taking time out of the equation is not usually a good ideal in my experience. My critique, go faster.
  6. Good job Ohio crew. Fun match! Nice mix of stage designs and challenges. The mover stage was fun, I'd like to shoot that stage again.

Maybe... ths best either of us could do was about a 3" group at distance. His groups were just more centered in the target. So he got more A's then I did. I'm going to check zero again before Ohio. It was hard to be super accurate with the 8moa dot. The red dot nearly covered the A zone of the target. I'm almost tempted to put in a 6moa before A5.

Went to the range tonight. Worked more shooting on the move drills. I am really getting the hang of it. Its not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. I've found that being super smooth with my lower body really helps keep the dot steady. The next practice will be cross body shooting on the move. I find that is the hardest for me. Moving left while shooting a target to the right and vice versa. Good stuff. Rob showed up and owned me on some long distance group shooting. Yes that's right, he was more accurate with a stock glock than I was with my Trubor. I will be doing more group shooting practice in the future. I don't have any excuses. I just need to practice shooting groups.

Thanks Chris Iliff! After reviewing my classifier history, I figured out I am not close to making GM. I need 3 GM runs in order to bump. So that's good. I am 8 years and 950,000 rounds behind Max M. and Eric G. so I'm OK with staying classified M for a while. On to a more interesting topic. I began working on shooting on the move with targets beyond 12yds. I'm learning that dropping points may be worth the ground gained by shooting on the move. I believe stage design will most often dictate when shooting on the move is applicable. Being able to shoot good points while moving is a must in Open if I'm going to hang with the big dogs.
  11. Ahh! Good to hear! I need to get up to Peru and practice with you before A5.

Maybe, but I have a classifier to shoot at the Ohio State match. I'll probably shoot it around 85%. That will keep me classified M for a while

If I drop another point, I'd need to be well under 3s.

Thanks Ryan for the picture! So this morning I had a thought. Sunday I shot 09-02 Diamond Cutter in 3.02s down 3 (HF 12.25), which should be around 99%. The drill breaks down like: 1.3s Turn and draw 3ea-0.28s transition to partials 4ea-0.22s splits to partials This sport / hobby pretty crazy.
  15. Congratulations on the 100% run! It was a pleasure shooting at Ft. Wayne. I really liked the stages and had a lot of fun.

Went to the the Ft. Wayne match today. Shot OK. Here's the video. I had to reshoot a stage for incorrect start position, woops... http://combinedresults.info/index.php/match/11421

About a month ago I started to work on "hosing" drills. It was rough in the beginning. Pulling off targets before the shot would break, snapping my eyes to the wrong part of the targets, etc... so I've been working on a couple drills to help me work on the "hosing" stuff. Last night I was working on 3yd "Blake" drills. (3 targets about 6" away from each other, 3yds away. Draw, shoot 2 A's on each target.) 1st run was 1.6ish with a Mike. 2nd run was 1.54s w/6 A's. Boom. That sounds cool, until I looked at the timer. 0.7s draw, 0.16s splits, and 0.18s transitions. I think I'll continue to work on these types of drills. Also I started working on SHO/WHO and gun manipulation skills again in live fire. I did pretty well considering I haven't worked on those skills in nearly a year. Something else I've learned about my shooting. Reloads take longer when the targets get further away. Last night 15yd reloads were taking 1.5sec. My 7yd reloads have been running 1.1sec. So that's a little interesting.
  18. Boom! That's how you do it. New to A class in 10 months, Congratulations! Go back and read your range diary from page one. Its crazy how much better you are now.
  19. I did call Dave, he was very helpful. +1
  20. I had the same issue with my CZC Shadow when I tried to install the SRS-1. I've been told that there is something wrong with the trigger bar and I need to polish the area inside the trigger bow where the disconnector contacts the trigger bow. I reinstalled the factory disconnector. I haven't had the time to work on it. I'd like to hear if anyone else had issues like this.
  21. I think your over thinking this. Different gun, different barrel specs. Barrel length is only one of many factors that determines projectile velocity.
  22. Anyone have load data for MG 115 JHP's and Silhouette?

No video from the match today, but results are here: http://combinedresults.info/index.php/match/11351 2nd in Open, 1st M. Not my best match performance, but a solid day. I'm happy that I'm carrying skills I've been working on in practice into match performances. That's rewarding. Lately, I've been doubting if I'm getting any better. I've been working hard, but finding it hard to gauge gains in practice. After talking to Chris I. this evening, I'm convinced I'm on the right track. I am just going to continue doing what I'm doing. I'm reaching the point where gains are going to be noticed in small intervals. That is not bad, but its important to know to what to expect. Expectations can lead to disappointment if left unchecked.
