Results are in from the Michigan Section match. I finished 1st Master in Open, 2nd overall behind Andrew H. Congrats to Andrew for a solid match performance, his win is well deserved!!! I'm happy with my performance, but still see room for improvement. My SHO/WHO shooting and classifier type skills needs attention. I'll get to work on that shortly. Best news of the day for me is that my new open blaster, which I'm naming Two Blue, ran great. My ammo ran across the chronicle at 176PF, but it feels good in the gun. I'll tone down the load and see what happens. Good day for CB45!
  2. Glock Perfection! I hear this is common with Gen3, but not so much with Gen4. Glocktalk forum may have answers for you.'

Practice tonight was good. One of the better range sessions I've had in a while. The new gun seems to be running well. It helps to have a practice session were I am focused solely on shooting, not tearing the gun apart after every run tuning on stuff. I felt like I was doing everything at the speed I need to be going again. For the last two weeks I've felt like everything was sluggish and sloppy. Footwork was aggressive. Transitions were crisp and centered on target. The gun is tracking well again. Awesome! I am tuned up and ready to rock!

I shot my new Open gun this last sunday at a local USPSA match. It worked great! I'm really excited about it. Bad news is that my Trubor is having issues again. I think the Aftec Extractor is starting to fail. I replaced the Aftec springs, maybe that will resolve the issue. I am also going to tune the ejector angle to see if that helps make ejection patterns more predictable. It has always had an erratic ejection pattern. This weekend I'm going to the Michigan Section match. I am looking forward to a fun match!
  5. Good luck with your Open experiment. My experience is that Open will test your patience. Be prepared to spend a lot of your time and money keeping an Open rig running. Open is high risk, high reward.
  6. I'm jealous. Maye this winter I'll get to upgrade.

Well I'm still working through the bugs with the new gun. Getting the ejector angle and extractor tension set is tedious tuning... I replaced my mag springs today. Wow, I'm totally surprised how bad they were. Even my match mags were really weak. Guess I'll be replacing them more frequently. Practice is going ok. I'm hitting new par times and having a lot of fun. I'm getting ready for the Michigan Section.

My local gunsmith did the major machining and fitting. I did most of the blending and removal of tooling marks. Basically he did a short block for me and I did most of the small parts. The barrel is KKM w/ Cheely Ti comp. That combo works well in my experience. One thing is for sure... this gun is flatter than my Trubor. The only difference is the barrel/comp. I'm excited. I really just wanted a no frills gun. All this talk about "who's gun" do you shoot irritates me. I want to be known for my shooting, not what gun I shoot. When someone is willing to give me something to advertise for them, maybe I'll get something flashy. Until then, I'll going to focus on the shooting.
  9. This is why we can't have anything nice.
  10. Good Lord, don't over complicate the easy stuff. Reload off the belt. Pick mags up between strings if needed. Rules don't need to be crystal clear for the intention of the rule to be clear.
  11. Google "Carry gun with a red dot" and only get...wait for it... About 1,830,000 results (0.42 seconds) And every link pertains to the firearms industry... awesome justification
  12. So who actually has seen one of these concealed carry unicorns? Discussion about Production Optics or Lim10 Optics is resources and time wasted. Learn to see what you need to see, or shoot open.
  13. Chrono the load, I bet it's on the slow side. CFE looks to be a slow/lower pressure powder. It loaded some for 9major and didn't notice any unburnt powder. You'll probably need to bump up the powder charge.
  14. My guess, partially burnt powder.
  15. Redding Pro Comp seater die seats Xtreme 147's well
  16. Hey you know what would be cool? Another division for people to not win. Do you really think putting a red dot on a production junker gun is going to change anything? Very few people take the competition seriously and are willing to do the required work to get better. Adding a red dot is just a gear change, not a performance chance, I hypothesize that 90% of people who say "My eyes are too bad to shoot iron sights" are really just too lazy to figure out how to shoot irons. I know several shooters that have poor eye sight, yet they seem to figure it out. The guns are a cool idea, but they aren't a revolutionary idea. USPSA guys have been putting red dot sights for a long time. All that being said, I further postulate that this division would severely dilute the Production talent pool. Create one division and make another obsolete, sounds like a win. Talk about discouraging new shooters. "USPSA: Must have a red dot to participate." The BOD should think short and long term about this topic.

Well, I had a lot of fun at the Ryan Rocks Charity Blast today. Nice mix of stage types and designs. Friendly match staff and fun squad. Finished 2nd in Production. It was good to see my practice is paying off.

Practice last night was interesting. Worked on mostly shooting drills. I wanted to really focus on being visually aware of sights alignment on every shot. It's getting a lot easier to shoot iron sights, but I still feel slow shooting difficult targets.

  20. Bump with new data. 7.8gr autocomp, 115gr MG JHP, 1.165oal 1530fps 175.9PF STI Trubor, no holes. No pressure signs with Win SRP. Going to tone it down to 7.6gr and see if I can get closer to 171pf.

I've spent 14 months training with the Open gun, and 15 days with the CZ. Open it is, I guess the production stint didn't last long....
