  1. Bump................. Match coming up fast. Woogie, how many participants???? Esp. L-10? Stillpraying..............you got that .45 ready to go? I'm not but that isn't anything new. Hopalong Edited to add that I sent my $$$$ off yesterday. See ya there.
  2. Shot this Sunday...... 8.39 down 2..................L-10 with a .45 Kimber and a Poo Poo reload. 74% according to OHIO. Hopalong
  3. When the tactical division was invented, I e-mailed my Area director and a couple of others with this thought in mind. Limit the Tactical divison to 20 round magazines. At the time, 20 rounders were the norm with ARs and 30s could be had but they were not "stock". I offered the idea that since it was a "tactical" division a 20 round limit would keep it to where skill with the rifle came first then "capacity" would not be an influence in any way. I also mentioned that those of us like me who preferred shooting the "big guns" would have somewhere to play(disclaimer here........I still shoot my M14 in tactical at times and don't have a problem with having 20 rounders to the 30s in the ARs, but that is me) and not be at a percieved disadvantage. Now remember, Beta mags at the time were quite outragous if you could find one at all. I also offered that the Limited division not have the magazine capacity limit since folks were already "limited" with shooting iron sights. Having said all that........with the rules as they are, and everyone already pretty used to them, leave it as it is. I personally think that in 90% or more of the stages out there that a 30 will do and if it is too tall, shoot 2 20s and reload (There is a place just learn how to do it). I'll keep on shooting my m14 with 20s..........In Tactical, and Heavy Metal, It matters not to me. Flame suit on..........I can stand it.
  4. Well for those of you who would like to attempt to earn a slot to the 2008 Revolver Nationals here is the perfect chance. There were 17 last year with the Kansas match conflicting ( It is again this year) but maybe some of you would like a little taste of Southern fried hospitality......or not. I really dislike trying to pull shooters away from other matches, but the Kansas match is a level II match and it wont matter if there are 100 in the division there will not be any slots to be won. (UNLESS they go level III this year). You can come get a chance to see the All division GM shooting his wheelgun and showing just why he is an all gun GM. Plus the Mississippi Classic match director has stated in the past that he woud like to make the match the "One to shoot" for wheelgunners. Here is a guy trying to help out the division. Had some real good stages last year, don't expect anything less myself. Let me add: DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a member of the Mississippi section, I promote this match because of the great folks putting it on and the QUALITY of the match...........and I don't get a kickback from the MD either. PLUS the chance of getting slots to the Nationals.......all you have to do is get 20 or more, and get in the top 3. Also let me add: Don't expect the locals to step aside without a fight either. Hope to see you there. Hopalong Edit to add: Not only can I not spell, I have a vendetta that is 3 years coming so I'll be shooting Limited at this years MS Classic.
  5. Got a call today from Matt, He offered a slot for the L-10/Open match. I was not at home, and can only remember shooting L-10 at the A-6 and North Carolina matches so don't know where it is coming from. I will politely decline though, will call them tomorrow and return the call. Hopalong
  6. Ok folks, I had an E-mail from a forum member saying that they would toss in a Ben Franklin along with the S&W. What is really cool is the forum member is not even a wheelgunner, but thinks what I am attempting (more Participation in Revo Division) is a good thing. So thanks where appropriate (I didn't ask If they wanted to stay unknown so I'll leave it at that for now) and get out and beat the bushes for more wheelgunners........ Sure would like to buy a 627 that I will never get to shoot!!!!! Hopalong
  7. March...............Alabama Section May..................Arkansas Section May..................Mississippi Section Aug..................A-1 (tentatively.....depends on Air fare) Sept.................USPSA REVOLVER Nationals Sept.................Tennessee Section Oct...................A-3 Arkansas 3-gun KY 3-gun A-6 3-gun Ft. Benning 3-gun A-3 may be axed in favor of funding the A-6 3-gun though Hope to see some of you around. Hopalong
  8. Randal, I have been intending to attend a match or two, but things have not been working out. I hope to get over there soon but have turned into a fairer weather shooter here lately. For what it is worth, our club here in Corinth, MS averages 12 a match (2nd Sunday, 1 PM) for the last 3 years. When we first started shooting we would get as many as 40, but most decided that it was too expensive (beer can shooters, ect.) We also shoot 4/5 stages and a classifier for 10 bucks.......club member or not and usually get around 100+- rounds down range. Hope to see you before too long, and will see you at Anniston in March. Hopalong
  9. For what it is worth, I really recomend using Hearthco clips in matches that you think are important(Yes I think they are that good and make a difference). And he also sent me a sample prior to me getting some, but once I saw,I had to have. for you good folks' info: Hearthco: 805-344-4850 dhearth@hotmail.com Hopalong
  10. Well as most of you know, I offered a challenge for all of last years USPSA Revolver Nationals attendees to bring a second this year. Well, I have been thinking and now have decided to put my $$$$ where my mouth is... I have decided to donate a Smith & Wesson revolver by random to a participant of the 2007 USPSA Revolver Nationals at Tulsa. Here are the details..... I will "purchase" a Smith & Wesson Revolver to be given by random drawing at the Nationals in Tulsa. The "winner" will be responsible for shipping and any other fees to or by thier FFL holder. The revolver to be given away will be: For Revolver Division only.......... If 50 participants..................a 4 inch 686 IF 75 participants..................a 5 inch 625 If more than Production division..........a Performance Center 627 in .38/.357 Yeah, I hear ya........"but there were only 33 last year". So get out and beat the bushes while slots are available from the sections and the waitlist. The gun will NOT be available at the National match, but arrangements will be made to get it to the "winner". NOW................. Get OFF your ASSES and get some more Participation! (any one else want to put their money where their mouth is, is also challenged to do so) Hopalong
  11. Tim, That is great!!! Way to go !!!!! I was able to go to the A-8 last year on a pretty short notice. I had not been shooting much at all and a clean match was the primary goal. I managed the clean match, and won Revlover division. I'm sure that had I not shot a clean match especially the first half of the match things would have turned out different. One clean match can and will lead to another, then another, then a clean major.........you see where I'm going with this. Good shooting. Hopalong
  12. Tony, NOT wasted time, ammo, and money. This is a good learning oportunity, one that many of us have had already( raising hand too ). You did exactly what you planned on doing..........Blasting through the stages at HI SPEED........Right????? aw, come on...admit it. I have in the past.......and most likely will again as I love to use special classifiers for that elusive 100% (NOT recomended but just one of my things). And, Yes it is so easy to get a couple of good classifiers and then get a little overconfident on the next few, just to get run over by that train wreck called "Humble Pie"........YES I have too, and I'll be willing to bet a good Steak that I am not the Lone Ranger in this catagory too. Something most of us have to experience to understand, some are lucky and either see it happen to someone else, or have it explained to them by some one that learned it by the school of hard knocks (star pupil in that school) Hopalong
  13. Yeah, This will be a good season starter............ Come shoot CDP with me and Gman, or ESP, or ESR, or SSR, or maybe even SSP.........who knows what we'll shoot, you'll have to come and see. I'll be willing to bet that much fun is to be had though. Hopalong
  14. Michiganshootist, I think this will boil down to an idividual basis due to many differing things as mentioned before.........wear on the 1911, cylinder gap, and so on, and so forth. But! I can tell you this for sure. MY match ammo that makes 170 PF in my 625s makes 200 PF in my KIMBER Eclipse. I am loading Clays and am using Precision Delta 230s (Fed Primers) and mixed brass. NOT what you wanted to hear, but what my Chrono told me about my loads this past fall. Hopalong
  15. Trini, Try the Area - 4 website. All I got from david was a schedule of events for the Arkansas section, no entry forms with it. I kind of don't think there are any entry or other info yet though. (but I could be/have been wrong) Hopalong
  16. Got the call Thursday (I think) from USPSA, for A-8 Revo division win......will be sporting the wheelgun at Tulsa. Nemo, I know a guy down there that is a SC.........I can put in a good word for you. Sorry Brit, I have no way to help that I know of. Good luck getting a slot Cuz! Hopalong
  17. Joe, Happy Birthday!!!!! Thanks all for the Birthday wishes.........to be honest with you all, I hope the next 10 is NO where as hard on me as the last 10! (except the new friends here and on the ranges I've been to! ) Hopalong
  18. Dennis, Sorry man, but I will be shooting a flat sided, bottom feeding, 10 shooter. Gotta give the Tin Knocker a little something to laugh at you know?(and everyone else) Still not a 100% sure I'll be able to make it, but am planning on it. (sure would hat to miss the Alabama Butt Kicking!!!! ) Hopalong
  19. Just about 2 hrs ago, got the call from USPSA.............. The trip to A-8 may not have been worth the $$$$, but sure is worth not having the headache of trying to get a slot on the waitlist. See you in Oklahoma in September. Hopalong
  20. What part of South does Richmond claim???? I can see west, but South???? Maybe you guys need to change the name to the "Way out West" or something. Hopalong
  21. News flash from west Tennessee.............. Due to a conflict of interest (Work, special job ) the Hilljack will not be in attendance. I can count on one hand the numbers of times I have worked on a weekend in the last 5 years..............this upcoming weekend, and last years Midwest ICORE match are 2 of the 4 !!! Only thing that makes it better is I got a call from USPSA today.................. ring, ring............."Hello Mr. Keen?" Yada Yada Yada......."Would you like a slot to the Limited, Production, Revolver Nationals in Tulsa?"................."Sure, Why not?" Hate that I have to miss the match this weekend, good luck and have fun. Hopalong
  22. Sure, Let's all do the singlestack 45 in L-10 thing!!!! That is if some of you GA boys are willing to give up the dot!!! All trash talk warmly welcomed! Hopalong
  23. Man, Go minor one time and see if it doesn't haunt you for the rest of your life! Good luck with the foo foo gun then Mr. Praying. Trash talking to be had on the Alabama site then. Hop
  24. Rob, My 646 gets sticky and has extraction problems when it gets hot. I get this feeling it is the Ti material that is expanding. One quick fix I have done is shooting only nickle cases in it, helps some until rather hot. but better than brass. I do like the little gun though, hardly ever shoot it much......one or two non sanctioned IDPA matches here localy. Hopalong
