  1. I plan on shooting in as many Divisions as I can....................EXCEPT OPEN Those things are just too noisy ! Hop
  2. Keep your head down Jim !!! See you when you get back. Hopalong
  3. Great MATCH !!!! Squad 21 was MOST Awesome, we litterally had to run to get to a target to tape bullet holes ! Great meeting all the forum members, No I'm NOT going to list ALL of you by name, and putting a face with the "name". If ya'll can, try and make the Mississippi Classic, it is pretty close to this but with a little distance in some bays. Congrats to the Winners, and the Match Organizers. Hopalong
  4. James, That is GREAT !!!! Hope you can swing it, along with any and all other wheel gunners or aspiring wheelgunners. I have talked with Jerry M. he will not be able to make it this year so the trash talking and other fun stuff may commence. See ya'll then. Hop
  5. I've got a 89 with a floating hand (I guess a left over from the 88s') and left all the stuff in it and just shot it as it is..........until this last summer getting some time in before nationals when it just quit working. Maybe it has something to do with all the slop now in that gun and I can guess pretty surely close to 200k rounds through it. I think I'll retire it. I personally can't tell much difference between the floating hand guns and the non-floating hands (If everything is polished up the way I do them) Hop
  6. Hah! I always knew you were an OLD GEEZER !!! Happy birthday old man. Hop
  7. Jerry is now using one of Elliot Eysens' moonclip holders. He could take them out of a pouch that just holds them unorganinzed and still whip 90+% of the rest of the revolver shooters and any given match (Just my opinion, and see my tag line about oprinions) Hop
  8. Dan, Good luck with the Hip surgery. OOPS, let me restate that............. Good luck with the recovery !!!! Hop
  9. Psky, Sorry to hear that. The way things are going up, I might just retire from this profession while I'm only up to my neck in the hole. Hop
  10. Don't think you'll have any problems moving it. Might have to get with some of the IDPA guys, they use that Caliber more than USPSA guys do. Hop
  11. As seen in the Last Shots forums, Tim Lott from Mississippi has reloaded his wheelgun his last time. Tim was a constant on the Mississippi Revolver scene and will be sorely missed. Now that it is early enough. We should all try to make the Mississippi Classic and shoot in HONOR of Tim. Hopalong
  12. Keep at it there Bill !!!!! The more you do it the more you'll get those " Ah HAh ! " moments. Hop
  13. I voted for "OTHER" as I am too competitive by nature for "Hobbiest" and after seeing what it really takes to just get "OK" I insist on not becoming a "Sportsmen" so it won't drive me away from it. Hop
  14. Never got to shoot with Tim, but a Darn Good MAN !!!! I'll miss seeing him down at the Mississippi Classic, and all other times I'll be there. God bless him and his family. Hopalong
  15. I know two of them that are now back on the 45ACP cartridge after playing with the GAP cartridge. I was told that there was no advantage gained except getting to use another rarer type of brass that was also expensive.....one did trim his .45ACP down to GAP specs though. HOP
  16. I have had NO problems shooting prone with my moon clip holders (I still use Cali Comps) I did use Blade-techs but have since switched back to Cali Comps. Dave, you have some pretty good shooters in your squad. I'll see you there(I'm in squad 21) Hopalong
  17. Roger, How many Production shooters ???? And if it can be done, can a person change divisions ??? Hop
  18. Merlin, Since you're here in my part of the country working so hard. I'll get your bag too !!! Hopalong (near the back roads you've been riding)
  19. I have shot my 646 a little. From what I have I'll give my observations. My 646 required chamber polishing to keep it from sticking when hot. (Major loads made this show up more than MINOR) I personally did NOT like shooting my 646 with MAJOR loads (I use a Miculek grip and that does not help either) It hurt after a very short time. Shooting it MINOR. I really LIKE shooting it at 130,000 power factor. It handles really well. very controlable and mine is really accurate !!! The Smith&Wesson moonclips SUCK !!!!! I use HEARTHCO, and have some RIMZ to try. Bullets......... I use Precision Delta 180 grn fmj (lead based but Round nosed except the very tip is flat) and have ZERO problems, and they shoot good in my gun. Will I shoot it instead of my 625 or 25-2 at a match ? Depends on the match, a section or somewhere I'm really going to just "PLAY" maybe. USPSA Nationals? NOPE I'll be shooting MAJOR with a gun that shoots 45ACP. I have not tested to see what the average reload is vs. the average reload of the 25/625 but I'll tell you I think I have had the fastest reload times with the 646. So there you are, just some observations from just a little time with the 646. OH did I say that I really LIKE my 646 ???? Hopalong
  20. Just to clarify my trigger stroke. I NEVER STAGE MY TRIGGER !!!!! (intentionally) I have been known to do it only because I stopped in mid stroke because the sights weren't where they needed to be...........and I've also shot it and then do another just depends on if the extra bullet is available. On close targets (fast type stuff) I will have the trigger moving and cylinder turning before I get to the spot I want to hit. On long or hard targets the sights are where I want them before I move the trigger. Always, if I start the trigger stroke I finish it in one smooth complete stroke. And Gman.........................Don't be telling all my secrets ! Hopalong
  21. No, I WAS doing 1000 rnds a day in a complete practice (likely 50+ draws but at different type targets) I could (was) getting 95% c zone or better hits out to about 10yds(I'd say 75% of these were A hits) with a miss thrown in there occasionally to make me pay more attention to what I was doing.(usually shooting too quick) The biggest way to get a FAST draw is to practice the response time to the buzzer. fire to the beep. Have a partner hold the timer right behind your head with a loaded gun, aimed and on target. have him give you the ready, then beep. You fire just as soon as you hear the beep start. With time you can get .20 or less response time . Then you can take that and insert it into your draw. (Most people will start at around .75) because they usually start at the end of the beep which is .25 long on the PACT timers. Then when you get a good response time, get a vidieo camera and take vidieo of you drawing. Then ELIMINATE wasted motion. (this may take a while). Hope that helps. Hopalong
  22. Hawiianjo, Shoot 1000 rounds a day, a match every weekend for 4 months and it'll be a piece of cake Hop
