  1. Good luck. I had the same problem with a S&W M&P 9mm that would only do it during a major match, never in practice. Mags were numbered and never with same mag. Tried different bullets loaded to different lengths. Switched to CZ SP01 and never had problem again. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. I have been using www.uberscoremaster.com to score a weekly match since late February and it is an outstanding program designed specifically for IDPA. I highly recommend it. --Lin A03606 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Jim, The barrels that obscured the swinger except when it came out on the right were not in the same location when the SOs shot the stage on Friday. Apparently some of the Friday shooters had an available head shot to the left of the barrels when the swinger was at that end of it's movement and some shot it that way. On Saturday that option was not available as the barrels were in a different location. This was not noticed until after lunch on Saturday, too late to be corrected. --Lin Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Steve, Does this mean that if you are squatting and someone shoots you with a 104.9 PF SSR round, it won't knock you down? --Lin
  5. Yup, and the problem I had was they scored the extra head shot down zero. That's perfectly fine. An inadvertent body shot that hits the head is still a body shot. The rules are clear. The head is part of the body unless you're trying to circumvent the CoF in this case "Mozambique" to gain a competitive advantage. +1
  6. Actually, if you do have a round come out when you rack the slide then you would need to pick up the dropped magazine, NOT the ejected live round, before firing your next shot. Otherwise you will have performed a speed-reload which is not IDPA-legal and would earn you a 3-second PE. --Lin
  7. Just did a search of both the Sprinco and TopGlock websites and didn't see anything listed for a G30. Which one do you use? Thanks, --Lin
  8. Has anyone had any luck changing the recoil spring on a Glock 30 to a lighter weight spring? I tried a search and didn't find anything about this. I am trying to run a minor pf load and my G-30 will not cycle the slide with this load, where it runs fine in my M&P .45. Specifically, how do you change the springs with the set-up Glock uses? TIA. --Lin
  9. This thread is from the 2007 Postal Match. However, the results of the 2009 Postal Match will be posted sometime around the middle of November, 2009. http://www.idpapostalmatch.com/FAQ.html
  10. You could always try a magnet, it will be attracted to steel but not brass.
  11. Yes, I agree. Thank you all very much!
  12. At a recent match one of the COFs had the shooter moving for all shots fired. This included shooting thru a window at a target but if the shooter stopped and used cover at the side of the window that shooter received a PE. Also, the shooter was required to leave the cover of a wall to engage targets on the move. The rule book requires cover to be used if it is available. The question is: can a shooter be given a PE for using cover instead of moving, under the rules? No, I wasn't the shooter. This was the first major I can remember that I did not get a PE, hit a NT or get a FTN! --Lin
  13. I do my best to get our match results posted within 2 days. Very rarely takes more than that. --Lin
  14. Something you might want to try, which may be helpful, is to get glasses fit so that you CAN clearly see the front sight. If you can't see the front sight clearly, you are fighting a losing battle. --Lin
  15. SharonAnne said: "You may change your mind about what pistol you want but you will never regret buying a Dillon reloader. " Truer words were never typed! The single best reloading press maker is Dillon! Any one who says differently has every right to be wrong. Get the Dillon and you will never regret it! And no, I do not work for, nor do I sell Dillon presses or equipment. --Lin
  16. If the car was designated as "low cover", then the SO was correct. If it wasn't so designated, then it was just the SO's interpretation. There is no requirement to have one knee on the ground except behind "low cover." --Lin
  17. I shoot several sanctioned matches every year and have shot multiple Nationals. Have not seen one yet where the shooter would be allowed to not keep 100 percent of feet and legs behind cover, be it vertical cover or low cover. --Lin
  18. I run 132 pf loads of 147 gr. Zero JHPs over W231 or Titegroup. My G17 and G34 use 15# ISMI springs on stock glock guide rods. 10s of thousands of rounds without problems. These same loads run fine in my G26 with stock springs. --Lin
  19. Here is one, if this works. It is also posted in the files section of the yahoogroups IDPA forum. We have used it for several years, updated in '05 to include the ESR division scoring. See http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/IDPA/files/ and scroll down to the Classifier Score Sheet-2 by Rosalee.pdf. --Lin Classifier_Scoresheet_2_by_Rosalee.pdf
  20. Forgive me if this has been asked before, but I can't find anything related using the search function. A friend from work is getting into pistol shooting and I have introduced him to reloading. He came over to try loading some ammo on my equipment and brought some new Winchester .45 brass. After loading just a couple dozen rounds, the Dillon SDB locked up at the end of the down stroke of the handle. It turned out that a case was stuck on the expander "button". After getting the offending case out, I found the expander button to be very fouled with brass that took a considerable amount of elbow grease to remove. Is this common with new brass? I have been reloading for over 45 years and got my first Dillon 550 over 20 years ago and have reloaded 10's of thousands of rounds over the years, but I guess I have never actually used new pistol brass in all that time. I switched to the 550 and quickly fouled the expander on that one also. I tried some of the finely powdered mica that I have previously used when neck expanding some new rifle brass, but it didn't help much. Any suggestions from anyone with experience loading new pistol brass would be much appreciated. He needs to load some more ammo, but I would like to have a solution before he comes over. TIA, --Lin

  22. At the 2001 IDPA Nationals I won an STI slide without the front radius cuts or scallops in the door prize drawing and I asked Bill Wilson if it would be legal in CDP. When he informed me that it would not be legal, I contacted STI and they allowed me to exchange it for a classic style slide. It would depend on the frame and everything else that went into the gun if it would make weight. You also would probably need a custom holster as the uncut slide won't fit most molded holsters. The only way to be completely sure if it would be legal, provided it makes weight, would be to get it in writing from HQ. --Lin
