  1. Texas Carbine did it again, awesome match guys, and I can’t wait to shoot next year’s match. With the organization and stages I wish you guys would put on a big “combat shotgun” match or move into the three gun arena. This match should be on everyone’s list to shoot. Corpus is a great place to take the family for the weekend and be able to shoot a great match. Thanks again see you all soon, Viva Texas! JG
  2. 11B I am wondering if I got one with a defect I need to find someone else that has one to look through. I noticed a similar glare when I looked through a friends RMR. JG
  3. I have an 18 inch dpms rifle length gas barrel with a syrac adj. gas block, F2 Comp, JP low mass bolt, low mass buffer, and nsr rail. I recently received my backordered silent captured buffer, and have three questions before I swap them out. 1. Will the captured spring have the same recoil pulse as the low mass (better or worse)? 2. The instructions recommend that you remove the buffer retainer plunger and spring. It doesn't say you have to, but they recommend it, any experience/issues with leaving it in place. I figured it would be easier to test the recoil/function before I take the time to remove the buffer tube. 3. I also have a 16 inch midlength BCM with a midlength gas system with a Failzero bcg, and a spike t2 buffer. Will changing to the captured spring decrease the recoil in that carbine? Thanks for the help in advance, JG
  4. 11B have you had any issues with glare inside the srs. I was using one and would get this terrible glare that I think was coming of the diode or some sort of circuit board. I really liked the dot size, battery life, and over all heavy duty feel but that glare was killing me past eighty yards. I ended up switching back to the eotech. JG
  5. Thanks for posting, its awesome, going to fit it in my dryfire training. JG
  6. Im running a syrac adj gas block, and its been working great.
  7. I noticed in some matches you can run a variable in tac optic/scope and still run irons at the 45, but if you run a dot at the 45 it puts you in open. Is that a common thing? I know at some other matches you can run backup irons on the same plane in limited and in some you can't, it can only be a dot or irons. Now I have three rifles set up, one for open, irons, and a limited gun--all in all good excuse to buy more carbines/rifles, lol. JG
  8. Great match, really looking forward to next years match. The long range stage was a lot of fun and the strobes on the targets helped in case you weren't able to call your shots. It was a good reason to dust off the bolt gun and get out there and shoot some steel. The full auto/suppresed prop gun was neat to shoot. JG
  9. I'm in, should be lots of fun. Had to pull the bolt gun out from the back of the safe and dust her off. JG
  10. I searched the forum to try to gather more information on this optic, and came up short. Anyone running it in Tac Scope? Sorry, just realized I posted under the wrong forum sub category, this multi-tasking is not for me, lol.
  11. Just received my Gen 3 G35 and it took four weeks. I noticed they cashed the check for the upgrade going into week 2. Wasn't really in a hurry , I had certificate sitting around since last December but its only good for a year.
  12. I'm running a DPMS 3G with a PRI barrel mount front sight/gas block with a KNS precision .52 ball post front sight post and a Daniel Defense fixed rear with the CSAT rear aperature. So far the sight combo is running great. The small ball post sight helps shooting on the move and the CSAT rear sight helps if I have a few close range targets mixed in with some far steel. I typically get a "soft" zero at fifty yds POA/POI then I'll back off to 200 yds and get a hard POA/POI zero on paper at 200. With this sight combo it puts me 1.1 inches high at fifty/2.1 inches low at 25yds and dead on at 200 shooting 64gr Gold Dots. I also use the sight black from Birchwood Casey because it's easier to keep around compared to a carbide lamp, eventhough the lamp produces a "darker black."
  13. I spoke to Tim (not sure if ur the Tim) but I appreciate the excellent customer service and I will be shipping the pistol asap. Thanks again in advance , you all have been really helpful. JG
  14. Thanks, I will give them a call tomorrow.
  15. I just installed the V2 ZT Fulcrum trigger in my G35. The trigger feels great, but I have an issue with it. While testing the function (dry-fire) if I press and hold the the trigger down and cycle the slide (reset trigger) the striker will drop if I release the trigger slowly. I haven't tried it with live ammo, but I suspect it will send another round downrange. I left the the pretravel and overtravel set from the factory setting. I'm running the lightened striker spring with a titanium firing pin and the plunger/spring that came with the kit. I don't know where to start the adjustments or which springs to change, and any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance, JG

  17. Do you prep the trigger or do you press continuously when you make contact with the trigger face? Second question, do you reset/prep or full release/maintain contact with trigger for a subsequent shot? JG
  18. By placing the pad of your trigger finger on the face of the trigger you will minimize the chance of manipulating / influencing the trigger. If you have long fingers you can try to put a 90 degree bend at the second joint. Similar to old bolt gun shooting techniques where you avoided "dragging wood." In actuality as long as you bring that trigger straight and to the rear each time, remember straight and to the rear , you should see a decrease in your rounds impacting to the left.
  19. I teach mainly Leo/Mil shooter, and to establish a good shooting platform I ask them to pretend they are going to punch someone. Once they establish a good fighting stance I just tell them that instead of hitting them with a fist, you hit em with some lead, should the situation warrant it of course. For a right hand shooter, feet almost shoulder with apart, right foot slightly back, rt toe almost in line with left heel, knees slightly bent, shoulders square to threat, weight on balls of feet (about to hit someone or take off running) and bring gun up to eyes. Everybody is different, and a shooters stance should be pretty fluid and able to adapt. Hope it helps. JG
  20. Anyone shooting at the NRA TPC match at Liberty Hill on May 5? Looks like it's already booked with a wait list. JG
  21. Welcome aboard, I usually shoot the monthly carbine matches with Texas Carbine shooters, and I'll go to the Coastal Bend Shooter matches once in a while. Hope to see you out there some time, both clubs are full of great friendly shooters. JG
  22. Don't drop a fully loaded mag, unless you want to make your friends laugh. JG
