  1. I just purchased a 15 inch c/f rail with the 2 inch front sight rail from Lancer after seeing it at shot show. It feels about the same diameter as the JP Vtac, but has a greater CDI factor. It is a little longer than 16 inches when mounted, so it won't work on a 16 inch barrel. To be honest with you, I really prefer the 15 inch Troy TRX rail, I've been running on one of my other rifles. I feel like I can get a better hold of it. If you can, try to get a hold of a rail that your considering and see how it feel on a rifle, most people are happy to let you shoot their rifles after the matches. Good Luck, JG
  2. I've been running the Warren Tactical Sevigny Competition sights on my G34/G35 and am really happy with them. I have the F/O Sevigny/Black rear on my G17 and find that I can acquire the closer targets (8 to 14 yard range) faster, but tend to take a little longer trying to find the tip of the blade on the 15+yard targets. I'd go with the black/black sight just because I tend to getter better hits on targets, plus don't have to carry extra f/o rods in case it should break, which it will, probably at a major match, hard lesson learned, lol. JG
  3. The range is good, the stages look great, the weather in Corpus is awesome, but now have to focus on some cold beers and some seafood. Really looking forward to "goin loud" tomorrow.
  4. Really looking forward to this weekends match. Got fresh batteries to power the dot! JG
  5. The match was great. It was a bit cold and wet, but it was a lot of fun. I can't say that I've ever had to engage two eggs, sitting on top of cones, unsupported, at thirty-five yards, but great stage design; made it more interesting. Looking forward to next year's match. The prizes that were raffled off were really good.
  6. I am a right handed shooter and I find that when shooting the carbine in the prone position (1:45) I am able to engage and transition between targets quicker by shooting them right to left. I typically prefer to shoot target arrays from left to right, but find that in the prone position I don't fight my body as much. The best way to find out what works for you is to get a timer and practice on some targets, because the timer doesn’t lie. Good shooting by the way, your shotgun cadence was on point, keep up the good work. JG
  7. Thanks for the replies. CocoBolo I'm registered for the TPC match and really looking forward to it. Last year I walked away with a S&W M&P so hopefully I can have great performance this year. I'll see you out there, just let me know what bay you'll be running and I'll stop by and say hi.
  8. I just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I hope to gain some knowledge and hear about others experiences when it comes to competition. I hope to one day be able to give back and contribute to this forum as well. I read and am re-reading Practical Shooting Beyond Fundamentals, and have picked up some real good information and I figured I should stop snooping around the forum anonymously. I competed primarily in IDPA for several years and have been shooting a few local club matches for USPSA. Recently I found myself really enjoying shooting carbines. I've slowly been moving into the three gun scene, but haven't entirely committed to it, just yet. Happy to be a part of a good forum, Johnny Gregory
