  1. Missed last year's match, signed up for tac optics, really looking forward to the match. Quick question, can you run irons at the forty five? JG
  2. Count me in, shooting all day Friday at Cowtown then some three gun action on Sat and Sun, oh yeah. Check is in the mail. Johnny G.
  3. Awesome match guys (as always), thanks to the ro's especially Kb and his crew who had to put up with our squad, lol. Loved the free refreshments available during the score tallying, other clubs should take note. Congratulations to all the winners and I'm setting aside next year's match date on my calender as soon as it's posted. Johnny G.
  4. I like to visualize the stage when I am waiting for my turn to shoot. I try to see the sight picture I need to see on each of the targets and try to run the stage in my mind perfect until I feel like I got it down. Sometimes its just three runs in my mind sometimes it takes a quite a few depending on the complexity of the stage. One of the mistakes I've done in the past (which will never happen again) is overlooking a seemingly simple stage and not taking the time to visualize the stage, and given up points because it seemed easy. I like feeling confident with the stage when its time to load and make ready, and then I'll take a deep breath relax at the are you ready, and then just let go. My best stages don't feel fast at all, the stages I've shoot poorly on feel like I was rushed, if that makes any sense. JG
  5. I had my 35 lightened, front cocking serrations, and muzzle angle cut and I will say that the force shooting factory loaded .40 is increased quite a bit. You can feel more of the recoil in your hand and forearms, only thing is that instead of the muzzle flipping up in recoil it stays much flatter. I would describe it as being more violent except with far less muzzle rise, feels like I can track the sights faster. It is high in cdi factor though, not sure how much that is worth. The double undercut was by far one of the best improvements on the gun, it is a Gen 3 and I also added a grip force adapter. JG
  6. Phil it was an awesome match, thanks to all the ro's and staff that worked the match. I swear there was some sort of magnetic force field on some of those targets. My wife and myself really enjoyed the shrimp, band, and the quality beer. Our group headed next door to check out the stock car races after the match and tried to continue rehydrating. It was really cool, can't wait to shoot it next year. Thanks again, Johnny G.
  7. Really looking forward to shooting the match. Planning on shooting a dot gun and tinkering with the idea of shooting an Ak in honor of the man himself as a second gun. JG
  8. Stages look pretty good. One small tip, after shooting a few all steel stages I realized that a long sleeve shirt helps slow down those pesky bullet/jacket fragments. I'm really looking forward to the match, okay maybe a bit more for the refreshments and shrimp. Johnny G
  9. Well, hopefully this video will make a few smile, while we all wait. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7vtWB4owdE
  10. How would you go about shooting the Southwest Regional Championship - Oct. 11, 12 Marble Falls, TX without being classified or shooting any other matches. Will they post online registration like other 3 gun matches and max out on # of shooters? Thanks, JG
  11. I put a storm lake drop in barrel in my 35 and it shoots 6 inches high at 25 yards and about 12 to 14 at fifty yards. I'm running Warren tactical sevigny sights. I put the barrel in my back up 35 and it does the same thing. it's sitting in a fishing tackle box that I keep all my glock spare part in for now.
  12. Incorporate a press check at the beginning of the each stage during your load and make ready, either off the magazine or chamber check. Do it every time and at every stage. Also include a sight picture to make your optic is on, scope cover is off, or if you shoot irons make sure you are using the right aperture and that the rear sight hasn't shifted to the middle plane, lol. Do it on every weapon system that you will be using. The best lessons are the ones learned the hard way, now tell yourself that is the last time you will ever do that and get out there and shoot some alphas, Johnny G
  13. Sorry to hear that, but looking forward to participating. Please keep us posted on the date. Thanks, JG
  14. Run with the gun high and your index finger rested straight alongside the slide of the frame that way there is no doubt to the ro's that your finger is anywhere near the trigger. Keep that muzzle awareness especially when executing speed reloads, look for unintentional and intentional 180 traps during your walkthroughs. Good Luck, JG
  15. I run a 200 yd POA/POI zero with my irons/dot/variable rifles, with the 18 inch barrels shooting 64 gr, it puts me a 3/4 of inch high at 50 and 1/2 inch low at 25 yd poa. Definitely helps to know where your have to hold for targets at different distances. JG
  16. I like the Sevigny sights. JG
  17. I'm ready this year, really looking forward to this years match. JG
