  1. All, Not sure if this is where this topic belongs, but I wanted to share an experience I had. I was out at the NSSF Mississippi State match and I met a guy by the name of Larry Steeley, he is one of the owners of Rainbow Technology Corp and he designed Steel Target Paint. He has since sponsored several large matches including WSSC, Production Nationals, Carry Optics Nationals, etc and it is the best paint I have used on Steel Targets. It is far better than the 'cheap stuff' and designed for steel. Make sure you stand back 12-18" from the target when you spray it, this stuff comes out hot! I tried it and ordered a case for training. Just thought I would pass along. https://rainbowtechstore.com/products/steel-target-paint?variant=25080450371 Steve
  2. Let me know when you shoot in Augusta and I will try to make one of them. I have shot a few of the NSSF matches there.

For me, I took out the magazine disconnect and added the hammer bushing, put in a Volquartsen sear, and added a TandemKross trigger. This took me just under 2lbs with a great pull. If you don't like the flat face trigger you can save $35+SH and get the trigger in the 2lb range for less than $40.
  4. Do they always limit it to 40 shooters? Is it due to the size of the facility? I would like to shoot it as well.
  5. If you don't mind me asking, what them rest is that? I assume you had to drill and tap the frame? Thanks!
  6. Really cool, I shoot glocks quite a bit I will have to pick one up and try one. Thanks!
  7. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get that thumb rest from?
  8. I'm building the same thing, with a couple of different parts. Have you decided on a load to shoot yet. Mine is going to be used for mostly Steel Challenge, and on occasion USPSA, so I still want to make major. I guess he will use 9mm Major ammo.I see a lot of people to use G17 to be their base pistol. Shouldn't G34 be a better base gun to build ? No need for the longer one if your using a RDS, accuracy won't be much better.Mine is a 17, this was just before I added a comp.
  9. Thank you for the information. Is there a specific frame from caspian you recommend? I can assemble but I do not have any experience fitting parts. Thanks again!
  10. I shoot quite a bit of .22 Open in Steel and I am looking at adding a thumbrest. My kimber frames are too thin to drill and tap. Anyone have experience with a 1911 frame that is drillable? Also, I just picked up a rod style thumbrest from SJC for one of my glocks. I have seen some slide stop extenders... anyone make a 1"rod that comes out the side of the slide stop lever for a 1911? If not, anyone know of someone who would make a couple? Note: I shoot Marvel conversion kits (unit 1). Thanks in advance for your help!
  11. +1 on different divisions including rimfire. I think it will evolve soon.
  12. I use Winchester m22 and it runs very well. If I cannot find that, I use chi minimags.
  13. Who's mount are those? A Japanese company called Freedom Art. The C-More Version can be used for a MRD directly mounted to it or add the angle bracket for the C-More. Pretty versatile but very expensive. Thanks! How much and do you have a lead on where to pick one up?
  14. Well, if you decide to use teflon tape, you would be #3. Since I & Gorilla Tactical have done it. Call me cheap. Great write up GT! Thanks for the props! Here's my current mount. The next one I may get is the 90 degree C-More version. Who's mount are those?
  15. My 2 cents, I had a carver mount, but within the first 200-300 rounds I found my cmore to be farther forward than my SJC mount. The Carver mount enabled the optic to get residue on it and with my SJC I never have to wipe it off. Could be coincidend.. Could be nothing, but I would try an SJC and see if you see an issue.
  16. With the TacSol, can you change out the sights? Are they the standard size of a Glock? Steve You can change the sights on the TacSol, same sights for Glocks. Comes with what looks like the OEM Glock plastic sights. My Tac Sol is very picky with ammo. Seems to work best with CCI 40gr standard velocity, not so much with Federal 40gr standard velocity, but got surprisingly good results with the Federal 36gr copper plated HP. Good advice on keeping it clean. Thank you for the intel, I appreciate it! Steve

  18. Definitely not an expert.. I put in a Carver extended ejector and a white sound defense High Reliability Extractor Depressor and it was amazing what this did to sending brass flying in the right direction. After you get your white sound, let us know how it goes. Note, you may want to revisit the recoil springs after you install the others to fine tune.
  19. Thanks for the range test/report. How has it ran since? I have thought of purchasing one to practice on a Glock frame in lieu of spending more $ than I already do on ammo. Thanks in advance, I appreciate the input!
  20. Not me, Looks great. You got'm shoot'm!
  21. My 2 cents. I have Charlie's Ultimate Trigger with a factory striker. The only issue I have had is with cheap russian ammo, then I would get light primer strikes with the lightest striker spring. When I upgraded to the medium the issue went away. With any other ammo, not a problem. I love the trigger. In my 34 I run a 13# recoil spring with a tungsten guide rod and it runs perfect.
  22. You are right, they are not bullseye sights, but I have found them accurate. I shoot the plain black and plain front on a few of my guns and I love them. I find they are quicker to pick up. The dots on the sights are a distraction IMO. As some of posted, I have mine set just a hair to the right, probably for my poor technique, but I love mine. What type of barrel are you shooting out of? Maybe try some 115 gr and seen if you get some slight improvement.
