  1. Having just missed classing up last month, looks like I scored this month. Got A Class by a narrow .08%! It figures that I make it into the next class just BEFORE my next major match Same thing when I made B class just before Area 6!
  2. Fake as all get out, but entertaining! I'm the field operations manager for a UAV company, and we are beginning work on a VTOL (quadrotor) design to compliment our fixed-wing small UAV. This stuff is somewhat taboo in the small UAV industry (weaponizing), but will probably happen at some point in the next decade or so. I've been flying various platforms for nearly 8 years now, and the technology cycle doubles about every two years.
  3. Hah, I went the other way, but I fire 124 JHP, not 147 FMJ. Have you tried MG's 124JHP? I find my MG loads much more accurate than the PD 124FMJ I was building before. Both with Win231, 4.4gr. YMMV...
  4. CORE Rifle System's CORE-15 16" MOE Custom with Stainless Fluted Barrel, Magpul Furniture, SightMark Ultra Dual Pro Spec Reflex sight with integrated laser.
  5. Latest and greatest from today. This is my home range, GTR. I finally had a good, clean match...my first since May without any Mikes or No-Shoots! Here are the two run-n-gun stages from today's match:
  6. Dang, dude, sounds like you are well on your way! Congrats!
  7. Yep, Bladetech DOH for USPSA/ISPC and IDPA after removing the drop spacer.
  8. Hey Niner, did you shoot at the last GTR match? We should hook up for some run n gun practice. It's much more effective when you have a shooting partner for timing and stuff. PM me your info and I'll get back with you.
  9. Kool! Welcome aboard, you must shoot at HSC? I shoot the USPSA match there every month. John Z and his gang put on a great one!
  10. Yes, that thread covers a lot of updates and evolutions for the software. Basically, it just requires each squad to carry an iPhone, iPod Touch, or any Android device. The system syncs with the other devices over WiFi. The stages are pre-built in the master device, as well as registration. You can import a master file from EZwin to build the initial shooter database. Out on the stages, scorekeepers will see th ability to generate a random shooting order for their squad, and each score sheet is saved automatically as the stage is scored. When the squad is done, the device is brought in and synced with the master device and the scores merged with all the others. Practiscore then generates standings instantly by division, overall, class, etc. You will know who wins within 30 seconds of the last device getting synced.
  11. I think some would say that requiring membership in any organization means they are not truly holding a USPSA match, since there is no such caveat in the USPSA rules. I have also found that some clubs have very inadequate information on their "websites". It took me a few months travelling around the state of FL going to matches to find out everything about any of the clubs here. They are shooting clubs, though, not computer clubs, so I don't complain much about their websites. However, critical info such as banning a particular type of holster, NRA membership requirements, reloading "below the berm", etc are all things that individual clubs really need to put on their websites.
  12. I would love to see the match scored with Practiscore electronic scoring. I think it really speeds up scoring a stage. I was the prime score keeper for my squad at the last SEPSA match...it's awesome!
  13. Not that I have seen. Some clubs/ranges need you to join NRA to be a member of the club in order to get more affordable insurance, but I have not seen a match that requires you to be an NRA member.
  14. This guy is the poster child of INCORRECT Range command and terminology. New ROs, DON'T be this guy: The video was shot by a buddy of mine in VA.
  15. Congrats! I recently thought I made A, but when the scores were run, I missed it by just a couple percent points...oh well, maybe next month - meanwhile
  16. Shoot whatever division you feel comfortable with. Classification is only relevant for the top three in a Division/Classification for awards. Otherwise, fahgetahbooouutit.
  17. Great Match today at the Southeast Practical Shooters' Association! It was hot, but we had a nice mild breeze to keep it bearable. This club has some ACE shooters, and I managed a 6th place finish in Production. This was the cleanest match I've shot in quite a while, with only 1 Mike and all points for three of the five stages! But, lots of points don't mean much in this game when you're TOO SLOW, so I gotta step up the movement a bit. Here's the breakdown for Production Division: http://www.uspsa.org/uspsa-display-match-results-detail.php?indx=5391&division=Production&guntype=Pistol Head Cam Video of Stages 1-3, 5:
  18. www.shooting-performance.com Mike Seeklander's stuff is well put together.
  19. I'm staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Lake Wales...free with my points
  20. Gainesville Target Range July 2012 USPSA Classifier
  21. post added in error
  22. Thanks for the encouragement, folks! We'll see how accurate CMCalc is in a couple weeks. For now, it's just an estimate.
  23. Well, at least nobody can say I'm a sandbagger... According to CM calc, I shot three A-Class classifiers today at the local classifier match. Add those to the one A class score I already have in the books, I think I just wandered into A class. Of course, I do this just as the FL State Champs are coming up I did the same thing making B class a couple months ago - just before Area 6! So, I will be getting my butt handed to me by seasoned A-Class shooters at FL State, now! Yay!
  24. Let me throw in the whole issue about ranges that require you to keep the muzzle below the berm on reloads (I shoot at one range that does this). So, do I screw around with an alternate load style because that one range, for consistency sakes, or do the same reload all the time and sacrifice a tenth of a second in all reloads at every range? It's very hard to keep the muzzle below the berm when doing a magwell-in-the-face reload, at least for me...my wrists aren't that limp
