  1. I like it, just as I like "Can you count". It's a different challenge to shoot five shots in a row, going as fast as you can literally count, without going over. This is no more of a 180 trap than half the regular stages I've shot at local matches with oblique shots. 5 seconds is fine, and for half the shooters out there, probably too short to get two strings with mandatory reloads drawn from holster. This is a great Speed Shoot stage.
  2. XDM 525 (any size for that matter) is legal for any USPSA division, or IDPA ESP. It's a striker-fired "safe action" pistol. It's confusing, I know...but it is legal.
  3. My only wish is that a Corp team could put more folks in a division. I understand we don't want Team STI to flood Production division, or something like that, but my company has nothing but new shooters that wouldn't make a dent in any division. If a team could put up to three in a division I think it would be more fun and popular, since the "team" can actually shoot together on a squad in the same division. Too late for this event, but something to think about for the next team concept. Erich
  4. Advantage = 9mm. Smaller hole, less "bleed over"
  5. You can do the program without the DVDs, but I think it would be hard to do the program without the book. You can make your own logbook, or do like I did and use RangeLog.com to track my progress.
  6. This match is back on again for Jan 21st. Start practicing! Erich
  7. Magnetic mag holders are unfair to Glock boyz...which is probably who came up with the proposal... If I wanna tie it around me neck, who cares? I shot a stage last weekend where I sure could have used one or two.
  8. Yep. I ripped them to Digital format and have the first volume on my Droid X2 for review at the range
  9. Yeah, I just got my DVD set a couple days ago. It's good stuff, I found out I was doing one of the drills wrong by watching the DVD. So, the book and DVD go really well together.
  10. OK, no, I'm going to miss that one. Area 6 is probably my next major match...
  11. Don't wait too long, price goes up on January 15th. Some hotels are also completely booked. Sent in my registration today as well as made my hotel ressie today. Are you talking about the FL Open, or Area 6?
  12. Can you shoot a 22LR AR on your pistol bay? Yeah, I could, however, knowing from USPSA Pistol competition, you don't really train properly using a .22. However, I suppose it could be useful to get the motions and procedures down right.
  13. Definitely hold a New Shooter's Briefing at the start of the match. As for unprepared new shooters, well, be prepared for that. As an aspiring 3-Gun competitor, I find that 3-Gun is a bit different than pistol in that most ranges don't allow one to practice running around with pistol, Rifle, and/or Shotgun at the same time. Most ranges I know of have "pistol only" ranges, "rifle only" ranges, and even fewer allow drawing and movement. I would say that 3-gun, despite it's growing popularity, is one of the more difficult sports to gain practice with at most local ranges, just due to the way most ranges are operated. Take my local club range for example. We have one bay that shooters can draw from holster and move around the bay and shoot on the move. It's a Pistol Caliber only range. So, I can't take my AR over there to practice. We also have a 100 yd rifle range. I can't draw my pistol from a holster and most definitely can't setup a target array and run around shooting it. So, the only way I could get any experience with actually shooting 3 gun is to show up at a real match or go to some clinic (rare). In fact, I'm trying to do just that as I finish decking out my new AR. Now, my point mostly concerns the 3-gun match environment, not so much the shooter's preparedness with his own equipment. You would think it obvious that he/she should show up with sighted optics and know how to operate his/her gear. Not much you can do for that situation, I guess.
  14. I'm still trying to figure out how a "production" gun is synonymous with "carry suitable", and therefore should only look and operate like a "carry suitable" gun. There's a ton of mass-produced (the real definition of a "production" gun)guns like the Desert Eagle that aren't necessarily "carry-suitable".
  15. The PRP ultimate match trigger is something you can do yourself. They have videos that guide you through the entire install and tuning procedure. Very well done.
  16. Excellent, I was considering the Open, but it's a little too soon to plan for that one. I am seriously considering Area 6, though. You?
  17. HAH, yeah it sux trying to save for a reloading kit AND still buy factory ammo to keep going It's like having to buy twice as much ammo to save 1/4 of the cost later.
  18. Stock, except the Grip Tape from PRP. The PRP Match trigger kit is next, probably do that next month. After that, I'm done with mods.
  19. This is a screen shot from my RangeLog.com firearm detail. This gun has been a load n go piece since I got it at the end of October. I'm expecting this gun to take me all the way to A class in Production
  20. I am personally looking at the Lee Load Master Pro for my first reloading kit. They also have a new "micrometer" style powder measure that allows you to customize loads like all the other big name presses. Lee just seems to give you more for your money (dies, auto-indexing, case/primer feeds, etc)
  21. Well, it's official. I hope I can afford the ammo needed to keep to it (gotta get a reloading kit soon). I am officially starting my Seeklander program tomorrow: Session A, Phase 1. I'm going to do the Twice-Per-Week regimen since I always shoot at least one match every weekend, sometimes two. The DVDs are on the way, and I made my own log/score sheets to compliment the drills. I attached the PDF format here, but if you would like the Excel version, I can send you that as well. It's just a form that will allow me to write the important data down as I drill, not a method for computer-based record keeping. Goals for 2012: 1) Classify B in Production 2) Classify C in Limited (minor) 3) Lose 20 pounds 4) Attend three Major Matches 5) Attend at least four Local matches per month Seeklander Drill Scoresheet.pdf
  22. What will be next? Pretty much all of the clubs that host USPSA matches I go to in N FL have rules against holster carry and draw. Is that what will be next? Guess I need to start practicing my drills from Low-Ready Oh, and don't forget running with a loaded gun, that will be the next rule as we all tumble down the slippery slope to appease ignorant club leaderships. What's that phrase about when you point at someone, there's three fingers pointing right back at you? Welcome to the hand basket, everyone! Guess where we're headed?
