  1. I did very fast ( as fast as I could) burn taps with the smallest tip. Mine is not agressive looking like some of the others, but is very grippy to me. I did it for function, not looks.
  2. any more progress and pics to your build? Im still struggling on the length of the 35 with the comp...think i may just go ahead and buy a G22 slide. would love to see some pics still. It is prety much done. I need a taylor pad for a big stick and maybe the lightened striker. I have maybe 500 rounds through it so far. Not one hiccup. I ended up not converting to 9mm per Bill @ Jager's wisdom. No regrets. Mostly shot white box, but I did shoot some major 165's and it was nice. I look forward to figuring out a great load for it. With white box, it shoots fine for as often as I don't get to the range... , but my dillon will pay off soon with some nice loads. Length of the comp wasn't noticable for me. I got to 1 second draw/fires with an uncle mikes kydex with dry firing. Just got a DAA rig, so need to get that 100% set. I would go Jager again, no problem. Everthing fit nice and was easy to drop it all in. sorry for crappy phone pics... I will be glad to answer any other questions you may have.
  3. lived in Nevada City for about 6 years...miss the foothills... welcome!
  4. hate that it happens, but understand that it can happen. Hope all is well. I know I feel better now... Thanks to those that "fixed" it.
  5. I just installed mine a few days ago. Had to really tap it into place, so maybe you had a dud... Thanks for that heads up though as I haven't shot with it yet. when it rains...sorry for all your issues.
  6. Metal slide, new, obviously based on glock but no glock markings. Fit into DAA holster like a glove. Balance with the magazine is spot on. Trigger feels slighty lighter than my Vanek, but not too noticable. No creep. Not sure if that changes with full gas loaded in or not, but it will be good enough. Came from Hong Kong in 6 days and shipping wasn't as bad as I would have figured. Now I just need another magwell and figure out a cheap dot to put on it.
  7. http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/airsoft/Gas_Pistols_SMGs_KSC_KSC_G17_Rail_Frame_Metal_Slide_Version_.htm This is new, or at least it wasn't avail a few months ago. My brother ordered me a g18 from redwolf. Says it is full metal slide and weighs just a bit more than a standard glock, so it will be interesting to see how it works. Hopefully it will work with my DAA holster. I will give a report as soon as I get it.
  8. Recieved my DAA set up today. Took a good few hours to get set up, but still needs fine tuning. The race master mag pouch is so smooth. I only got one, along with two of the standard plastic ones, but I will be replacing the plastics with the race masters as time/funds allow. The holster was a pain to fit my g35, put the pouches worked without filing... To the range tomorrow...
  9. Duane, I used a sanding wheel and dremel for the finger grooves. After wards various grit sand paper to smooth out before stippling. I never wiped the tip with water, just hit it with sand paper a few times throughout the process. I did very small dimples. I would basically just touch the grip with the gun as fast as I could. Still very sticky, but not rough at all. If mine wasn't an open gun I would carry it. Be carefull not to do the stipple too high around the beavertail area as this could be irritating when firing. If I did it again, I would spend more time sanding the entire grip area before stippling. The raised areas along the sides of the grip need to be completely feathered out or you will see the outline with fine stippling.
  10. I used a candle and heated just to the point that I could flatten out those areas. I used a mirror to roll once heated. After that I sanded down the rough areas so the stippled areas would be uniform.
  11. The first statement, I agree with - 100% The other two, completely on the other side of the fence. In a retail environment, you HAVE to be able to speak to all markets and all customers to be successful. You need to be able to speak to the hunters and the "John Doe" looking to protect his family. The amount of shooters you see on this site will probably be less that 1% of your sales. You are in business for those that don't know, not those that do know. Those that know, understand where to go for a deal. Your customer is coming to you because you have it in stock and they need it now...that and they just don't know guns. Think about that customer and what reasons you are in retail for. Offer to order things all day, again most customers are there because they don't know where to go. A ton of retail consumers like to do business locally, that is your market. Have a hunter, reloader, tactical, and smith on hand if possible. That being said, I would not open a gun shop that didn't have a range. The range makes up for the loss in margin in the product you are selling (guns) if you can't make up that margin in the accessories. Stocking enough accessories to make up the margin is tough in initial layout, but so is a range.... I have a bit of retail experience and I have gone round and round about opening a shop, but it never made sense. good luck.
  12. I used the Jager open kit with the sts. Works flawless so far.
  13. Thanks to all the info here, I just ordered a DAA rig. I got one of the race master mag pouches and two of the plastic ones. Shooters Connection send UPS tracking data within an hour and half... Last weekend I finally got sub 1 sec draw/fire with my uncle mikes holster and a dress belt... Can't wait...
  14. I have my 40th coming up this weekend. Not so thrilled about that, but this is what I like: I like that my wife gave me a card stuffed with cash and a shooting buddy that got me a gift cert to shooters connection. I like that I just ordered a complete DAA rig and shooters connection already posted that it shipped. I like that my brother asked me questions leading to believe there is an airsoft set up in the mail. The only way this day could get better was if I won the lottery tonight and could start realizing my vision of covered, astro-turf shooting bays...
  15. +1 I got my first glock 15 years ago, never had this issue, but small hands too...
  16. I write left, throw right, shoot pistol right and shoot rifle left while cross dominate...if I thought about that while doing any of those tasks, I would fail at all. Pick a hand, practice and keep it consistant. Don't try and confuse what you body is telling you and you will be fine.
  17. So, I was dry firing with the Monday night game on. Doing trasitions on lamps was getting old. So, I started drawing and firing at helmet close ups. If it was a close up with two or three helmets, then I draw, fire and transition to the other helmets. Not being sick... I promise Dunno if this is usefull, but makes a boring game fun with getting a different dry fire target routine in with moving targets and not knowing when the next draw will be... My wife thinks I lost it... lol
  18. this ^ used glocK $400-$500 Jager Open kit $500-$600 Kit fits together in a few minutes. Great fit. I did this with a 35. Added a few other mods, but getting an open gun for around a grand not bad imho. I already want an STI for what it is worth...
  19. She is coming home today! Our Dr. said she did amazing during recovery. Barely any crying and transistioned to her chair great. Still have a few weeks of recovery, but thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!
  20. I'm sorry but I'll just have to believe that you made this up until I see photo evidence! But really, how do you feel it affected the behavior of the gun and your shooting? +1 to seeing different pics... I want to know what was noticed too...I have a 35 and want to know if doing more cuts will be noticable.
  21. So far so good. They extubated yesterday and her lungs were fine. No fever, so no infection yet. Off o2, as her sat is fine. If there was room avail would would be out of icu and on the floor. Pain management and pt really start today. Daddy really needs a shower and 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep...
  22. just when I think I have it figured out, BAM!
