I understand that brownings original design implemented a half cock safety, but can someone explain this...
If I have the hammer back, place the safety on, pull the trigger, and disengage the safety, the hammer falls to half cock. At this point the trigger is locked.
What was the original intent on this being a safety feature? i.e what situation?
Why does my 2011 not do this consistently?
If I manipulate the safety on and the trigger pull firmly, it seems to be more consistent (to half cock mode). But, it only does the half cock about 50% of the time.
If I loosely engage the safety and pull trigger, the hammer falls.
If I fumble the safety and pull the trigger at a match, I will have to rack the slide to reset.
why the inconsistency?
This is a custom build, if that matters.
