  1. It's some different, but it's also a lot the same. I don't think they tried to reinvent the wheel, I think they took the good and tried to get rid of some of the bad. I have not shot an actual PSCL match, but I did read the rule book once because I was curious. But that's been a while so I'm by no means an expert on their rules I don't know of any action shooting organization that didn't pull at least part of their rules from IPSC when they started (even USPSA). That's whether they have an acronym name now or are just some random club
  2. I am seeing that now. It is odd that that many would pay up and not shoot. Those 17,000 might really not be interested in paying the new rates
  3. I do shoot some outlaw matches in my area, both steel with a handgun and 3 gun matches. I also shoot USPSA club matches and am currently a member but, as mentioned earlier I will probably let it lapse this year. I don't run matches any longer so I have no say in what the clubs put on. If they want to give USPSA money for no reason, they have the right to do that. If they wanted to do PSCL or something and put a few hundred dollars extra in the clubs coffers ever year, that's fine with me too, I will shoot either
  4. The .org is still getting support through activity fees and classifier fees. I honestly wish that the club would get all the money if it was non-members shooting. I like to support the clubs that actually do all the work. That's one of the reasons that if my area went to pscl I wouldn't have any issues at all
  5. That 19862 is unique members. I'm thinking that may be something like lady, law enforcement, military, etc. I can't think of any other reason that they would be considered "unique" members As for the non-members that don't join, I can answer that from personal experience. Of the 20ish years I've been shooting I've been a member probably 2/3 of that. Sometimes I let my membership lapse if I'm not planning on shooting a major, and other times I've let it lapse when I've been busy with other things and only shot one or two matches a year. I had re-up my membership last year for the first time in a few because I was initially planning on shooting a major but ended up not. Now with the rate hike, I doubt I re-up my membership for the foreseeable future as I doubt I shoot majors and if I do shoot a major it will probably be a three gun match I guess one other thing to ask is what are those 14,000 people getting for their money if they are not shooting a major and don't really care about classification? IMO, not much
  6. Probably losing one for sure lol
  7. We're seeing kind of a resurgence in my area. One club kind of died 10 years ago or so, but a new club that came along in the last year is drawing decent numbers for this area. We even have a new three gun club that started a few months ago and seems to be doing okay so far. I think more minor and dots will help grow the sport to an extent but, idk about holding them. I have been doing this for about 20 years and there are probably 10 people that have been shooting that whole time with me and probably 200 or more that rotate through. But, what is the average length of time that people spend in a new hobbies, 4 years or so? Idk I like the idea of pro 15 or 141s but, I don't know that anything saves iron sight divisions
  8. In 2015 there was 23,800 members and in 2023 there are over 36,000 members so maybe these things have grown the sport
  9. Sounds like what happened at iron sight Nationals this year
  10. I'd say probably the biggest advantage to aftermarket barrels is that your gun doesn't blow the ejector out
  11. I think this may be better than the 8.7.4.1 that I listed earlier
  12. 8.7.4.1 says it could be subject to 10.6 I believe that because I'm friendly, I would allow them to reshoot it, if they wouldn't reshoot it I might visit 10.6. I would also inform shooters before the match that that sort of thing wouldn't be allowed and if you did it you could be subject to 10.6. I know people like the game stuff, but sometimes they have to understand the equipment that the match is limited to and, not be a douche. Good luck
  13. But that's kind of the point, the only risk is that you need to clean the chamber, which was addressed in the first post of this thread. People act like it's a big deal but maybe running a brush through a chamber is not that difficult. Once again it might not work in that particular pistol, but it ain't going to hurt the gun if you clean the chamber before you shoot the longer rounds in it. It ain't rocket surgery
  14. Read my first post on this thread, it's the first response so it not hard to find
  15. Rifles chambered in pistol cartridges have no forcing cone and suffer no ill effects going from short to longer cartridges other than needing the chamber cleaned. I would love to know what "risk over time" shooting 40 in a 10 could possibly be? And remember, I have done this type of stuff, so I am not theorizing, I am speaking from actual experience
  16. There are a lot people doing it with glocks and xdms. I had a Caspian 38 super comp that would shoot 9mm 100%. It is not a big deal and it ain't going to hurt anything. It might not work in that particular pistol, but it ain't going break anything Another example is Roland says you can shoot 45 ACP in their 460 roland chambers with no issue, it's doing the exact same thing as shooting 40 in a 10
  17. Assuming it functions somewhat, it should be fine, just be sure to clean the chamber before you shoot 10 mm
  18. Any reason that you just don't want to shoot it in limited optics? It would be highly competitive there yet at a serious disadvantage in open
  19. It is not a plus pad. It would have to be cut down to 171
  20. Another thought is buy a factory 35 rounder and shorten it and put grams internals in it
  21. IDK if anybody is making 170s anymore. I have a pistol gear extension and with grams guts I can get 29, but I ain't seen it in stock anywhere
  22. I didn't know if having the shorter drum could be an advantage. And I wasn't sure how much price difference there would be by the time you bought the extension, a spring and follower, and a mag tube. Especially if you're using mbx stuff at $140ish. With a little googling I just found a d50 for 75 bucks on sale but, most tend to be about 115 or so
