  1. I'm still going to try to get you on the "all-revolver" squads at this year's IDPA Nationals. If I can suck it up, well, misery loves company buddy. We can form a band of PiSSR's - Previously Stock Service Revolver shooter's "PiSSR's - Previously Stock Service Revolver shooter's " too funny Hell the RIMZ team always tries to get an all revo squad ...just not enough of em and now it will be fewer. let's see if ESR/SSR grows or wilts. BTW I'm game...now if I can just keep that file cabnet closed........
  2. That is until they go back to the old rules ugh I mean the second rule book ugh no the one after that yea the green book pre 1/6/05.... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . just kidding. And yes a file or belt sander does the trick.
  3. Well lets say I can live with it, so my response isn't quite as enthusiastic as the others before me. What's done is done so there isn't any need to re-hash it. I tried to stay off the "hate-the-new-rules-bandwagon as much as possible. My IDPA resignation letter goes in the file cabnet for now. I too haven't read all the new rules but soon will. Still I'm concerned with dividing an already thin rank of revolver shooters. And for those who excelled in SSR last year....well you'll have the memories. Time for everyone to pony up to a calssifier and move on. Perhaps the lessons learned will prove valuable.
  4. R_G_S Just trim the fins alittle and you're good to go. A loaded clip will drop all the way to the bottom. With a 625 you will get the center post to protrude about 1/4". The spring steel will hold the clip if turned upside down, if not just bend it to put more tension on it. Am I still missing something? BTW I still think 7 & 8 shot revolvers would be perfect in ESR just leave all the 6 shot revolvers in SSR. The difference between speedloaders and moonclips isn't a big deal. Moonclips are just more forgiving in a bad reload. restricting a 7 or 8 shot revolver to 6 shots effectively says don't use a 7 or 8 shot revolver, so what's the purpose. edit: Rule simplification would be.... rentiontion by any method! Retention is retension.
  5. Why do you feel the lower pictured one isn't legal. I believe the requirement you may be referencing is "D". If thats the case my holders do cover 100% of the cartridge height. What am I missing? Moon clip carrier must: A. Be designed for concealed carry and suitable for all day continuous wear. B. Be worn on a standard belt of no more than 1 ¾” width that must pass through the belt loops on the shooter’s pants. C. Hold the moon clip with enough tension to allow it to be turned upside down and retain it while fully loaded. D. Either be of open top configuration that covers at least 60% of the diameter and100% of the cartridge height and retains the moon clip by tension and a stud that protrudes through the center of the clip, or retain the moon clip with a snap or Velcro closure.
  6. Yep you'll always be a GAMER, not to mention a sandbagger in CDP Semper Fi Bro
  7. What's your take on.... E. Have either a strap or flap that is secured by a snap or Velcro or a tension device that will positively lock the speedloader/full moon clip in the carrier (such as a “lip” that extends over the edge of the speedloader/moon clip to secure it in the pouch). F. Require a releasing action to remove the speedloader/full moon clip from the carrier. Sounds like to me the Shoot the Moon carriers don't meet even the new revision, due to E & F above. This is still one I don't agree with. I've never had a loaded moonclip fall out of it's carrier (Shoot the Moon). I agree if it does then a 3sec panality should be assessed but not just in revolver shooting. I've consistently suggested ALL divisions be treated equally. Drop a 1911 mag from the carrier and get hit with the 3 sec also. I hope the snap/velcro positive retension thing changes in the final draft. Bill Wilson is still open to suggestions. I've sent mine in. Everyone else can do the same, just keep it respectful. We're making progress! txaggie thanks for the great before and after look!
  8. Wanted you to clarify the ammo positions. Are we now back to two in front and pone behind the holster? I sent on email to IDPA HQ right after the new rules came out and they replied to some of my suggestions. Is it better to send an email directly to Bill Wilson? BTW I'm on the same page as you w/ one exception if they let 8 shot revos in the class I'll still compete but I feel the same way, 8 shots has an advantage.
  9. Give a 4" S&W625 a chance as well. I use both and like the 4" a little better. All the IDPA hoopla will settle down. In the event it does interest you the 4" will be legal, no way will they go back to the 5". I prefer the 625 over the 610 because the 45ACP round is so versatile. Roundnose bullets are much easier to find as well. It's a dream caliber to reload. Not taking anything away from the 610 it has gained in popularity over the last year or so but the 625 is still the king.
  10. Why do you need holders? Pockets work. I also found some apeed loader holders that appear to be just what the rule book ordered. I need a member from the UK to contact me so I can get some info. Hey pockets are a great idea. Let's see just go it's not some gamer pocket I'll put snaps on the flaps along with the velcro just to make sure everything is secure. Hell maybe a combination lock to go with it would be a good idea. Better yet all of the above except keep the rounds loose along with a moonclip so they lay flatter inside the pocket. Just jam on the combo lock, hit the snaps then velcro, load the clip then load the gun and get back in the fight. Yea that should just about do it. okay just kidding.
  11. Don't you live in a geographically challenged enviroment for the winter?! Golf is a really fun game just like IDPA use to be...ugh I mean is. Yep any sport that keeps score is a game! I suggest after a short period of playing the game get a handicap as it's a way of measuring your progress. Now as far as the Tiger equipment thing goes you'll never match that but you can get a set of clubs fitted to your swing. No matter how good or bad you feel you are fitted clubs makes a world of difference. If you have any firends that are good in the game they can help you. Buying a used set of clubs will allow you to buy top quality equipment yet save some coin. If you buy equipment that fits your swing pretty well like the correct shaft flex all the other stuff (loft, lie, swing weight, grips etc.) can be changed to fit you by a clubfitter. As far as the monnclip vs speedloader thing goes I'm not even going there!
  12. I'll be at the show helping Scott Beckham the owner of Beckham Product Design (home of the RIMZ moonclips) our booth will be #8532 stop by and say hello. It would be nice to meet you all. Beside we'll have free product samples ! Ralph http://www.appcluster09.com/app/homepage.c...aignID=12973848
  13. RGS thank you. Before I rush off to but compliant moonclip holders like the DelFatti model you pictured I'm going to wait for the final rules. It looks like a pretty good design but for the life of me I don't understand why this rule is being implemented other than to slow down the reloads.. LOL I'd love to see the auto guys have two retention magazine holders behind their firearm! Yea yea yea I know I'm preaching to the choir. Final rules should be out in another month. Heck with all the rain we've had in SoCal most all the outdoor ranges are under water and I can't see them opening for another month or two anyway. For now it will be indoor shooting only.
  14. No I don't have an answer for that but the real question is what moonclip carrier is available that is legal? The Safariland Split Six is designed for speedloaders not moonholders.
  15. S&W obviously had some influence on IDPA and Bill Wilson. Bills response on the IDPA homepage indicates matches held up to mid April will use the old rule book and afterwards the new. More revisions are expected then a final written version.
  16. I've tried to stay out of the frey until more final decisions are made regarding the new rules. Yes I know many are being modified already. So ESR is here to stay lets make the best of it. I feel like the positive retention devise in the moonclip holders is a change we may have to live with. That being the case does anybody know of a moonclip holder that complies to the new rules? Most everything talked about is in regard to speedloaders which at this time I don't care to use. BTW Bill Wilson has posted a reply to many of the discussions on the forum boards as well as emails sent to IDPA. Obviuosly the personal email attacks against Bill have taken their toll, accurate or not they are uncalled for. It's a sad day when firearm enthusiasts start dividing our own ranks. I believe it's better to act vs react. In the long run everything should work out okay. If not there are other shooting disciplines to participate in.
  17. Bones I don't think you've even started to take the "crap" yet. Something tells me it's going to get worse for you. Funny how you support a division you don't shoot as well as rules that force many to purchase alot of new gear just to conform with new rules which seem to get worse with each revision. Oh yea welcome to the forum.
  18. Hey dude I've seen you shoot. If you can get some legal equipment rather than that race gun (S&W610)/RIMZ stuff, you might make ESR MM Okay just bust'n ya chops. Yep the current rendition doesn't look good for us but I think they are reviewing some of the changes. BTW it wasn't a waste of time climbing the ladder "grasshopper" you did enjoy the journey didn't you? Are you going to be at the San Bernardino Regional ICORE Match?

    Holsters

Okay I've held off posting on the "New Rules" but I do have a question about my holster. BTW I compete with a S&W 625 so that about says it all. Anyway after reading then rereading the rules I'm not sure about the Sidearmor OWB Revolver holster. Is it legal or not? It keeps the butt of the revolver against my side (love handles never thought I'd like em), no extra belt loops, no daylight issues and I wear it as a straight drop. If it's legal all I need is a gun that will fit it and be IDPA approved, then tackle the moonclip holders and concealment vest issues. BTW the reason I haven't jumped on the IDPA bashing band wagon (yet, not far off however) is I believe many of these rules will be changed. Clearly there are indications they are giving them more thought. At least I hope that's the case.
  20. My concern with the 38 Short Colt cartridge was the distance to the forcing cone. Any validity there (causing extra wear)? I thought the 38 Long Colt would be a compromise between the two. Still testing different ammo to find what I like best. I also have tons of 38 spcl mixed head stamp good for plinking I guess. I use Starline for my competition guns. How do you like the Universal Clays? Is it similar to Clays or Titegroup in cleanliness?
  21. Anybody know a reference source for the 38 Long Colt cartridge or have some load data available? I haven't decided on a bullet weight yet but it will be FMJ or plated. It will most likely be a lighter bullet. I do have some 158gr plated that I could use as testers however. It only needs to be a 120 power factor. I usually use Titegroup or Clays for my reloads but others powders are fine. I'm planning to use it in ICORE matches in a S&W 627 V-Comp.
  22. Does Vic have a website? 480 is that Phoenix, AZ?
  23. Sam is the Pickett spring different from the one Miculek sells thru Clarks Custom Guns? Does it come with the rebound spring as well? Do you have contact info or a website for Vic Pickett? One can never have enough springs, LOL!
  24. Care to share a contact for those shirts? I could use one for the end of 2005.
