  1. I have a Hit Factor Shellplate Bearing Kit that I took off my 650 if anyone wants to try it. Post here and shoot me a PM with your address and i will drop it in the mail to you.
  2. I would like to see the vibratory case cleaners with some sort of release on the bowl so I don't have to pick up the whole machine to dump the contents into the media separator.
  3. Goodhelps son with a happy ending, however I will take issue with calling it an AD. Nothing accidental about - you pulled the trigger and it went bang like its supposed to. Like all ADs it's really an ND - negligent discharge. I'm glad to hear it ended with only a lesson.
  4. 147 Bayou Bullet, 3.8gr N330, 1.135 OAL, WSP, mixed brass, 135pf out of my P226
  5. Can some Admin bounce thie guy for digging up all these old posts?
  6. That's my favorite bullet for minor. I load it @1.135 OAL over 3.8gr N330 for 135pf out of my P226 which s the most accurate out of my gun.
  7. No offfense but do you need to be slapped, that sounds like a sweat gift and not something that you will never use. My wife and I are really big on getting each other gifts that we will actually get a lot of use out of. Which actually makes gift shopping a lot harder and makes you put more effort in. So if she is going to get it for you and you are going to get a lot os use out of it, then embrace the gift.B M You aren't kidding - I am notoriously tough to shop for because if I want it, I probably already have it. She was with me when I snagged the used one at the match and her first thought was 'now what am I going to get you'. She enjoys shooting sports as much as I do and I am lucky to have her. Whatever it is will be awesome!
  8. I spoke with Dillon customer service today and I will be dropping off the RF-100 on Friday. They will have it ready for me to pick-up when I leave a week later. I could have shipped it but I thought it would be fun to see their place. In any event, for the $30 price of the rheostat upgrade they will install the upgrade and go through the entire machine. Gotta love Dillon!
  9. I've looked at the MrDial, Uniquetek Micrometer & the HD knobs...but still using the OEM bolt. Works fine for me.
  10. Good point! The only time I done this is when I have primed brass headed to the recycle bin - usually because a finished bullet does not pass my final inspection due to case damage or somthing I missed at an earlier stage. My brass gets a look see when I clean & sort but I case check and inspect every finished bullet.
  11. I'm not recommending this but i do it on my 650 as needed with no primers or powder in the machine - one at a time and with safety glasses of course.
  12. So get this, I was at the Monster Match in Frostproof, FL yesterday and one of the stage ROs had a few items out for sale....long story short, I picked up a used RF-100 w/both large & small conversions for $50! It was new in 02 so it does not have the rheostat. However, I am headed to Gunsite Acadamy next week - flying into Pheonix and I think I'm going to just bring it with me and drop off at Dillon for a referb and upgrade. It was a fun match and the nice score on the RF-100 made my day!
  13. My sweetie wants to get me an RF-100 for my upcoming birthday. Do these things really work as advertised? I have a pretty deluxe 650 set-up and we both shoot a lot so the volume is there...I guess I don't have one already because there is always something better to spend $300+ on like say 10k primers....but it is a PITA to fill primer tubes. Anyway, appreciate some feedback on the RF-100 from those that have one. Thanks!
  14. Lucky guy...the 147 Bayou Bullet is my favorite load. My gaming load is 3.8gr N330 @1.135 for that bullet. PF is 135 out of my P226 and it is the most accurate load out of my gun. VV does not recommend N320 for a bullet heavier than 130gr but I know some guys here load it. If I were you, I would start my load development at 3.0gr of N320 and work your way up. I suspect your final load will be around 3.3-3.4 range to get the velocity you need. I agree with CocoBolo above - which is why I am shooting at 135pf - laser accurate at 25 yards.
  15. 7.9 cents for Bayou Bullet 147g + 1.3 cents N330 3.8gr + 3 cents Winchester primer = 12.2 cents per load (assumes using range brass and buying materials in bulk) $12.20 per hundred The big plus is a much better round developed for my gun. As far as equipment goes, I am a Dillon guy so that's what I recommend. Buy used if you can - you should have seen the rust-bucket basket-case 650 I bought before I sent it to Dillon for a rebuild. I basically got a new machine back!! Love the customer service and no BS warranty of Dillon.
  16. +1 on the Bayou Bullets 147. Love em.
  17. I load Bayou Bullets 147gr with 3.8g of N330 @1.135 for a 135pf - best for my gun.
  18. I run N330 in my 9mm rounds and N310 in my .45acp - both are a little easier to get than N320.
  19. I was 7 or 8 when my father gave me an old break-action single shot 16 gage shotgun. I would walk the fields Pheasant hunting with him - tripping on corn stalks and remember jaming the barrel into the mud on more than one occassion. It would be a couple more years before I was allowed to carry a loaded weapon - and I guess that was a good thing. On a side note, I remember taking my firearms saftey class at my Jr. High School - after school. It was only 3 blocks from my house and we just brought our guns to school on class day. This was in Minneapolis around 1972 - how things have changed.
  20. Congrats! Getting a 650 ranks among my better decisions....and of course as you are aware, plenty of advice right here for the inevitable little things that you will run into. Love the closet comment...my wife also shoots but the 650 stays in the shop. She does load primer tubes for me though.
  21. +1 for Bayou Bullets. I run the 147gr - very accurate, very clean.
  22. Well after a lot of hand wringing, I have decided on the MSA Sordin Supreme Pro X w/gels. I am headed to Gunsite Academy soon for a week of shooting - should be a good workout for the MSAs and I will report back then.
