Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Any options of weather to use a good quality flat black spray pain as apposed to Sight Black. I tried Sight Black and it just seems to rub off on the gun run. Joe
  2. Normally I don’t worry about how shinny the brass is but after I started using One Shot some of the finished rounds seemed sticky after reloading. They did sit about 9 months in the basement. So I started tumbling the finished rounds for about 15 minutes in fine ground corncob and they come out real shinny now, and no more stickiness from sitting is a 5 gallon bucket in the basement. I typically don’t use polish because it just seems to gum up the works and create lots of dust, even using the dryer sheets. BTW, WD-40 seems to cut all the crud at the bottom of the tumbler bowl fairly quick and did not appear to damage the plastic of the tumbler, it’s a small Dillon. Joe
  3. Jimstc, I was in the same boat that you are as I had bought a used STI that did not come with the take down tool. I have now got several extras; drop me an e-mail with your address and I will mail you one. Thanks Joe Kipp
  4. Thanks for all your replies I'll put the Aftec extractor on my christmas list. Thanks for the information about getting it fitted as well, it'll keep me from messing it up. . Joe
  5. I'm looking at picking up a spare extractor for my STI Edge and was wondering if I should get either the STI ($24) or an Aftec ($69). Also what other parts would you keep on hand, what tools would you keep in your range bag? Thanks Joe
  6. If I can get a slot I'll be there shooting Limited 10. The rest of you had better watch out, last year was just a warning .... I plan on my ammo making major and I might even break the top 100! Joe
  7. Just a reminder that the Kentucky State Championship is coming up and there are still slots available!!!! Thanks Joe
  8. I've been using Zero's from Chuck in 9mm, 40 and 45. They allways worked well and are well priced. Joe

    B Man, I've been using them in my .45 with great success. No jams to date. My current load is 4.2 Gn of Clays with a Winchester Large/Magnum Pistol Primer to a OAL of 1.215. If feeds flawlessly in a Sig P220 and a Springfield Trophy match. Averages a 186 PF. You might find them cheaper from Chuck at www. shootersconnection.com Thanks Joe
  10. Big Dave, On my 650 with the strong mount holes measure 10 - 1/4" Between the left and right holes and 9" from the front to the back holes. Thanks Joe o <- 10-1/4" -> o ^ | 9" | o <- 10-1/4" -> o
  11. I’ll chime in and say leave the rules as they currently are. I shoot L10 because it’s uncomfortable for me to keep reaching back to pull the pistol out of the holster in a fast manor. If someone from limited or open wants to come shoot L10 let’em have at it. I don’t see the need to change rules because someone from another division using an expensive handgun wins. If I loose to someone with a different gun, tough, I just need to shoot my gun somewhat better. I just got a 1911 so look out, here I come… ; )
  12. Tom, Give this a try. http://www.stageexchange.com Thanks Joe
  13. I’ve been looking at two new 1911 style pistols. One comes from the factory with a mag well and the other does not. If I purchased the one without would I be able to shoot it in Limited 10. After reading the rule book I think that this would be allowed, but someone could call it a device to reduce recoil as it would add some weight. Thanks in advance Joe
  14. Vince, I'm new at this so forgive me if this is a stupid question. If I understand what your saying is that a metric target cannot be setup like this: _____ / / | | | | | | | | _ _/ | | |____| Is this correct or did I miss the point of what you just wrote. We seem to see lots of these targets at local matches. Joe
