Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. dmonwai, I like some of yours! Thanx. Let me know if you do any others that would be the "hot ticket" for new starters. Thanx, Chaz
  2. Thanx guys. I will look at all those. Here is one I found that might work as well: http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=youtube+idpa+%2b+gear&view=detail&mid=C83D5FBA0D1A43C11DFBC83D5FBA0D1A43C11DFB&first=0 If you find any flaws with it or have other suggestions, by all means, let me know. Thanx, Chaz
  3. Hey Folks, I've shot IDPA for awhile now and am starting a new course on a range closer to me, So. East Indiana. What i would like to know from any/all of you is, if ya got the time, do you have any favorite youtubes that could help someone to get started shooting IDPA that I can send out? I have seen a few but I was wondering if any of you have saw what you thought would be the best ones that I can send out to buddies, and others, who might be interested shooting IDPA, or maybe don't even know about it. I am interested in videos that shows what equiptment a person needs to shoot as well as well as what the basics are and what we actually do. I know, I know, I could probably write a long drawn out letter and send it to them but letters can be boring (as you can probably tell by mine ) and to actually SEE the information is, in my opinion far better. And I am sure their are good ones and better ones. I am looking for the "better ones". Can ya help me out here? So if ya know of one or two, I would greatly appreciate it if you could post it here. Maybe others could use them as well for getting friends of theirs into pistol shooting sports, i.e. IDPA. Thanx abunch for your time! Chaz
  4. Exactly! Got it!! Thanx a bunch!!!
  5. Thanx again for all the info guys. As was said, a good Dillon "used" is hard to find cheap. I guess I should have asked Santa. Oh well, shooting season is a couple months off yet so hopefully I'll get lucky. I'm watching auctions as well. Someone also posted a site that searched ammo prices and I can't seem to find it. Do any of you know the site I am thinking of? Oh and thanx MLM. He (Roo) is the BEST of companions!!! He truly understands things. Everyone should have as good of a buddy as him. Thanx again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chaz p.s. Merry Christmas!!!
  6. I've been told that. My only way would be to cut off an extremity.
  7. I shot my first classifier last sunday. I just got the scores back today. 166.06 total. I guess that's ok for the second time shooting IDPA. But, I made some rookie mistakes that I know I could have shaved 10 off of the total. But after correcting the rookie issues, I'm afraid the "getting better thing" slows quite a bit. Getting the rythm and procedures down on what is required when shooting will help a lot. When I concentrate on that too much my "hits" taildive. But, getting better is the same way as to how you get to Carnegie Hall - practice, practice, practice! We have another match this Sunday, which will be the last of the year. I hope the weather holds out. Then I guess I'll have to find an indoor range. And do more dry firing. Later guys! Chaz
  8. Well, we got the results back. I shot a 166.06. I know I could shave 10 off that easily but after that comes the slow part. Much like how I'm told dieting works.
  9. Good points. I have decided it has to be a Dillon but I don't think it needs to be a 650. I'd be happy with a Square Deal B but a 550 would be better. I want to find one used. Thanx, Chaz
  10. Yup......... screwed up. I'll elaborate in the forum on "Classifiers" when I get my results back (hopefully this week) but, basically, the mag exchange plus things you have to do in the third stage messed me up. Totally my issues, no excuses, but some things occured that I should have not worried about and just concentrated on my shooting. Just shows rookie status. Thanx again for all the help guys! Chaz
  11. You ain't wrong there my friend! Man! Oh well, I'll just keep trying to ask and learn. I am going to shoot my first clasifier (good Lord willin and the creek don't rise) this Sunday and I will be looking around for more casings while I'm there. It's much like gravel there. (I'll be nervous and needing something to do anyway ) There might be a Reloader (person) there that can show me a few things if they are not wanting to concentrate on the course the whole time. Come to think of it, maybe I'll try to get some info afterwards. I'd hate to mess someone up. Thanx again for the info!!!!!!! Chaz
  12. Got it!!!! That makes sense. Now with basically three options, I have yet another thing to think about. It's all good. I think that unless I have to do something specific with my mags, I'll just shoot till they are empty and drop them. I think I need to concentrate on the target, from what I have read. Thanx for the clarification!!!!! Chaz
  13. Cool. Thanx BBBB! I was thinking in terms of something totally different. So, you are also saying I can't drop a mag and leave it as I did in the local shoot. Bummer. Oh well, guess I need to do a little "dry fire practice" with that too. I was just getting use to dropping them! Thanx for your time!!!!! Chaz
  14. I read the "Tips" that were posted on the other site and was curious as to what tactical reloads are compared to retention reloads. Are the first two stages basically practice or just worth less points? Thanx for the insight!!!!! Chaz
  15. Ah-oh....... Thanx. That figures. Guess I'll need to do a little of that in "dry fire mode" as I doubt I will be able to get to the range before dark. I appreciate the "heads up" tho!!!!!!!!! Regards, Chaz
