My JP magwell takes Arredondo basepads just fine.

I don't have any experience with anything other than Arredondos. They work great!

I don't have any experience with Armalite but I do have a Stag lower and it's mighty fine.

That's odd. I'm running the same setup except with a standard length tungsten rod. Are you using moly or jacketed bullets?

Sorry to hijack the thread, what recoil spring weight are you using? I can only get about 3.6 to get the gun to work reliably.

Maybe the Dawson Sales rep was thinking about the G19/23 size frame or even the G26/27 size frame when they said they don't make one for "small frame" Glocks. Its hard to fathom why Dawson would excluded the LARGEST market of Glock cometitors - all shooting the G17/22 size frame....but...stranger things have happened. cheers tire iron Those are exactly my thoughts. There are probably more people shooting "small framed" Glocks in competition than the 20/21 series.

There's a version for Glocks but they don't state the weights of the wells.

Just on how to remove the tabs; Get an empty 38 special or 357 mag case. Then put it down the backstrap, keep tapping with a hammer and it'll cut the tabs off without a problem. Took me about a minute to do both. You'll be surprised how easily itcuts them off!

I will chime in and say the 40 would probably be the best imo.

I am not running a comp currently. At one time, I was really thinking about converting my G17 into an open pistol but in the end, decided not to. So during that whole time of considering, I did a ton of research. Anyway, what it looks like from a separate thread, titanium is the comp to go for. However, if I was to get into open, I'd use the KKM barrel with the 4-port comp for an ease of buying it as one piece and dropping it in. My .02

Well in that case...I'd still go for the 17, but for the shorter slide trend (like the commander slides on the 1911s).

I think it would be more practical to use the G17 because the slide is lighter.

Make sure you're crimping enough. I was having the same type of issue with my Stormlake barrel until I tightened my crimp just a tad. Ever since then, reliability has been awesome.

IMO, I'd get a metal one. Although some like a well without the weight, I prefer a metal well mainly for durability. My $.02

If you do glue rubber and such on your mags, remember to not cover the disassembly hole.
