  1. it catches the dust and media from the cases. stops it from spilling out all over ny bench. Not sure if the holes in the case feeder are normal, but they were there when I got the unit.
  2. I was gonna paint my bright orange............................. no no I wasn't. I like it the way it is actually, but I would imagine a lot of them will get painted blue in the future.
  3. So after a few weeks of waiting I received the following package from Roger at www.bulletfeeder.com The happy box with the bullet collator on top The next level has the rest of the collator stand, yes it's plumbing pipe. As Roger says, he could make it out of stainless steel and charge more money. But this works, and works well The 3 pieces and the power supply on my bench A useless picture of the top of my press, anxiously awaiting the feed die. I had in fact just finished adjusting the powder measure with the new expander funnel in it Adjusting the bullet feeding die, very easy to do The bullet feeding die installed and full of bullets. Notice the spring feed tube from the bullet collator to the top of the die. A very slick piece of work that is A picture from the front, I'll get some tomorrow showing the inside of the collator, it's different than the first vids that were on the website A picture of the back of the unit showing the power switch. Not sure why it's here, but I might move it around to the front at some point in the future. If it really bothers me that is this things works amazingly well, and is simple as hell to install. The hardest part for me was putting in the spring tube that guides the bullets to the feed die. once I figured that out it was off to the races. One thing I didn't take a picture of was the new expander that comes with the unit, it replaces the one that comes with the Dillon powder measure, and helps flare the case a little more than what you might normally do. this allows the bullet to seat easier in the feed station. That's right it seats it there, but only enough to keep the bullet from falling over and getting jammed or messing up your rhythm. I did manage to outpace it a few times, but I think that's because I had too many bullets in the bullet hopper, once it had fed 100 or so I had no real problems. Out of the 2000 rounds I loaded in just over an hour (yes 1 hour for 2000 rounds), I had no malfunctions at all, no upside down bullets, no problems at all. This makes loading so much faster and easier it's not even funny. Now some of you might be worried about no powder check die being installed. Well I've never used one so it's no issue to me anyhow, but if it is to you, I would suggest going to a combo seat/crimp die from RCBS or someone, and then move the bullet feeder over one station so you can still use your powder check. This unit will fit on any progressive press on the market today, so long as you have an empty space prior to the seating station. It's available in pretty much all of the major calibres, but there is about an 8 week lead time right now. Needless to say Roger is a very busy man, as this unit is proving to be very very popular. It's already over in Europe with Saul Kirsch being the salesman over there. I really cannot say enough good things about this unit. It's absolutely rocks, and is dead simple to setup and use. If you reload a lot of ammo, consider this as soon as you can afford it, it will make a huge difference to your reloading speed. I know most of you know all the stuff I typed above, I just copied this report from another forum I post on.
  4. just picked my lamb up last week. mmm mmm tasty lamb goodness!
  5. ahhh I see. I tried to do as you said and can't get it to work. Dillon any help maybe, please?????????
  6. so how does one take apart the crank assembly connector rod with the Irolox Retaining Ring setup.
  7. KISS. the GSI setup looks way overdone. the KISS one is pretty much what I'd be looking at building with a buddy of mine for the last couple years. Difference is, Roger actually did it, and did it well. Not sure my design ability would have been able to do what he's done. I am quite excited to get this thing and get it up and running. I tore down my 1050 yesterday, completly, cleaned and regreased it and put it back together (and tested it, it works). actually one thing I couldn't get apart was the main cam. I couldn't figure out how to take it apart and get to the bearings inside it.
  8. you guys suck. 3 more days and mine should be here. I'll document the whole thing with a camera and post the pics when I can.
  9. yes PRK takes longer to heal and is more uncomfortable the first few days. But everything I've read says it's the best of the procedures, especially for shooters.
  10. one thing I recently learned (and I hate football so I probably behind the pack on this), is that cheerleaders in the NFL and up here in the CFL, make very little money. Up here they don't even get paid for game day. They have to sell calendars to help with their travel expenses and everything. It's disgusting. Down in the USA the girls should be making in excess of $50,000 a year in my opinion. They are huge draws for the fans, and put on a phenomenal show for people. Strippers make more money than they do.
  11. no worries on fires on our outdoor range, it's a big clay wall with a waterfall down one side. I'd heard about Li batteries exploding from overcharging heating etc. But never paid much attention to it. The guy that brought them told us he was told they might flare up a bit. None of us expected what we got. Even with the fire, it was fun. As you can see from the smiles and laughing in the pics.
  12. from what I remember, lasik (either blade or laser) is simply cutting the eye surface and folding back the flap. where PRK they actually burn the surface away, so it has to regrow. with Lasik they fold the flap back after the corrective burn, and it heals along the incision. This is supposedly the weak point, which is why my doctor recommended PRK.
  13. if you are a shooter you are typically advised to not do Lasik, as the scar from the cutting can reopen from the shock of shooting. PRK is typically (according to my doctor who helped pioneer both types of surgery in Canada), the one shooters, boxers, police etc, should consider getting. I had mine done in 98 and wish I'd done it sooner. Burn the outer layer off, squeegee it (not true touchless as a result of the squeegee), do the corrective burn, insert bandaid lens and send me home. 20 minutes later and I had better than perfect eyesight in both eyes. the bandaid lens cames off a week later (I think, it's been a long time).
  14. yeah we kind of figured that heavy, white, choking smoke wasn't good for us one of our guys works for the workers compensation board up here and he did some research and told us that because we left quickly enough we don't have anything to worry about.
  15. we tried the Tempur and didn't like it, and went with the more expensive option of a latex rubber mattress (foam as well). Much much better than the Tempur in my opinion. We went with a medium firmness, and both love it. the guarantee is also about twice that of any other mattress.
  16. well it's been over 48hrs already so I guess the future generations will be screwed......... it was most definitely an example of "hey watch this". it was fun that's for sure. [
  17. So we had our annual Santa Shoot on the 23rd at my club up here in BC. as normal we had all manner of politically incorrect targets to shoot at (anything to do with the season and then some). One of our LEO members brought out a neat little 3 D cell size, battery pack, lithium ion to be precise. He'd heard they flamed up when shot. Since we often have LE Units using flash bangs and such on our indoor range we figured a little bang and some fire from the battery pack wouldn't be a big deal. Boy were we wrong. the first shot got a little flame, and some smoke as the first cell fell out of the pack. The 2nd shot got the next cell and more fire and smoke. the last shot got a huge fireball and a spinning flaming battery, putting out tons of smoke. within 3 minutes we had to evacuate the range as we could not see or breathe very well. the range is 50ft wide and 90ft deep, with a 12 ft open ceiling and a 20 ft peaked roof. all the doors were opened and 20 minutes later we could go back in. one battery was still burning so out the door it went, only to burst back into a big fire when it landed in a puddle. The concrete floor actually had a small area scorched through the smooth top coat. We are going to have to patch that, as the main club is going to be pissed at me. Needless to say it was an experiment gone wrong. We'll be shooting these things outdoor from now on, with rifles, from at least 100 yds. the LEO says he has some near new ones with almost a full charge in them, and we expect them to really react. I'll post some pics once my other forum is back up and I can grab the addy's.
  18. $120 seems very reasonable to me. I am always amazed at the reloading companies that offer their lifetime warranties on stuff. Lee, RCBS, Hornady, Dillon. I had a Rockchucker that broke it's linkage years ago. the press was probably an original (not even green). and RCBS sent me a new one in exchange for it.
  19. my 1050 hoppper growls when it's getting low on brass. I can also tell the difference the way the brass sounds when it is getting empty, but the growling is neat. I know mine is not the only one to do this, as I was told to expect it when I got the press.
  20. ordered mine today, finally! got to the post office and bought the US money order and mailed it off. I can hardly wait! and just to make it clear I ordered the KISS one in 9mm for my RL1050. Perhaps later on I'll get a .40 or .45 one for my Pro 2000.
  21. just went through my RL1050 manual and it mentions nothing about different powder funnels, but that we are belling on the powder funnel. I also looked through the Blue Press and didn't see anything about a swage/expander rod. Am I just dumb or am I missing some secret?
