  1. having the wailing wall is a distraction as far as I am concerned. it also can lead to problems when a person is ahead one day, but not the next even though they think they shot better the next day. Remember the element of surprise? I suppose you all don't bother wrapping Christmas presents either? I mean what's the point right? Our sport is not like Golf, or NASCAR, or any other sport out there. To post the results prior to the awards ceremonies, makes those ceremonies rather pointless. I wouldn't mind publishing from #20 down or something, but definitely not the top 10, make the top guys sweat a little.
  2. you saw the part where I said post verification lists right? that's all that is needed. It shows you all the info you need to know and allows you to check your scores agains it.
  3. I think that no results should be posted until after the ceremonies, no stage results, nothing. We don't need to know who won until the ceremonies. Simply post verification lists and that's it. Using the simple search function allowed a person to find their name pretty easily so I don't know what the problem was there. all this bantying about worrying who was winning what takes a lot of the emphasis off of why we are there, to shoot and have fun.
  4. well I've been watching this for a bit now, and feel the way I think most of you feel. That IPSC screwed up big time. if the gun was on the list, it should stay on the list, period. end of story. If it got approved then it stays. As for the guns being race guns, so what? There really is only so much you can do, before it's just eye candy. There is nothing in any of those guns that were removed that made them significantly better performers in GM hands than pretty much any gun on that list (the Dlask being one notable exception ). Up here I know that some of the talk is pretty harsh in regards to the people that made this decision, and I wouldn't want to be in their shoes at the Worlds as I would imagine there will be some spit flying as people "talk" to them. There is still time for this to be sorted out, and wrongs righted. It'll just take someone with balls to do it.
  5. A couple years back at one of my first big matches I was lucky enough to witness something I hope to never see again. A shooter was seated on a stage, waiting for the beep. Gun was holstered, in a CR rig I believe, behind a desk, on an office type chair. On the beep the shooter got up and went around the desk to the left. His gun caught the edge of the desk and came out of the holster. It did a complete 360 degree revolution and he caught it muzzle pointing up at about 70 degrees, and the grip the wrong way (think the gun upside down, as it also twisted during the flip). He righted the gun and continued and shot the stage. Everyone, including me, was dumbfounded as to why he wasn't stopped. Another shooter was videotaping the stage, and was also an RO. He stepped forward, told the stage RO what happened, and they had a discussion. The tape was watched on site, but even in still frame it couldn't be proved that the gun did anything more than twist sideways and point up at 70 degrees. But a call was made and the shooter DQ'd. However he took it to arbitration and won, as the stage RO admitted he couldn't see the gun, as he'd gone the same way as the shooter and was slightly behind him when it happened. Being a new shooter at the the time, I had no idea what to say. Needless to say I was shocked, and stunned by the incident, and will probably remember it for the rest of my life.
  6. sorry guys, been busy with school and my forum. obviously the question was allowed to stand, and people were quick about it too! Yes it's the shark. Well done. I heard this trivia tidbit on a morning radio show on my way to school (5am sucks), and didn't believe it, a bunch of searching, and apparently it's true. I guess that's why people eat shark so much, and use it in weird medicines. Ahh well. My favorite trivia question was the Lone Wolf and Cub one from Kill Bill, that took a bit for people to get. But people still got it. I've got a couple ideas cooking for a good one for the summer, but still checking facts.
  7. So I have a question, but not sure if it's good enough for the WAB. here goes (BE feel free to delete if it's too easy in your eyes). What is the only animal that purportedly doesn't get sick?
  8. So now that the US AWB has sunset, what effect (affect??? hmmm grammar sucks) will this have on Production Div in USPSA? any? none? inquiring (enquiring?arrrrrggg) want to know.
  9. him I'm betting you and I worked the trenches together, and also happened to be at the same club where the young lady was making the very strange fashion statement with the pant legs! so that nails it down to two or three people. Gonna need more hints!
  10. follow the order and drop one each stage. simple and fair to everyone. If an RO mixed up the order after we handed it in, in order, I'd bitch too. As a competitor, I spend a certain amount of time preparing, and going to the next stage with a prepped order, I know how much time I have. If an RO messes with that and I end being rushed to a start, I'd be pissed.
  11. Just wondering who started the "Long Sleeve Shirt, Under a Short Sleeve shirt" fashion statement? I've seen some absolutely brutal combo's of shirts and really don't understand the reason for wearing them the way people do. I haven't seen any other sports dressing this way, it seems to be something only in IPSC. Anyone have any ideas? Or is it contained somewhere in the rule book and I haven't been able to find it?
  12. I've just read the post you made about rule interpretations and noted that there is in fact a note about changing the color of a gun. thanks for the clarification.
  13. Ok I've received a whole of emails and private messages from other competitors up here in Canada who attended our recent Nationals. The emails all ask the same question, is refinishing the slide of a handgun legal? In this instance, a Glock 22 refinished with hardchrome. I was under the impression that in fact this was legal, as it doesn't offer any advantage to a competitor (although I know some will argue that point). But having read through a whole bunch of posts here I have to admit I am again, flummoxed. I would like to see this addressed in a more substantial way, as I would hate to see a competitor bumped to Open over something so simple. From what I understand it is too late for the people who are complaining to do anything about the results at the Nats, thankfully. But I would bet some of them don't know that. So anyhow, is refinishing a slide outside of factory offered specs allowed? yes or no? and if no, what constitutes refinishing to factory specs? An older Glock (and perhaps even new ones) are finished with a process not available in North America because of the chemicals used (or so I am told), so the only options are to send the gun back to Austria for refinishing or to do something close to factory in looks, like a nice parkerizing job or something like that.
  14. thanks for the link, but I've had nothing but trouble with Mecgars over the years. The only mags that I've had function 100% are factory Beretta Mags. I was asking this question because the base pads provided with the Elites tend to break (so ok that subtracts from the 100% thing sue me). The base pads I bought from BUSA last fall seem to be standing up well, and haven't broken yet, but the previous ones kept breaking. I recently found a company that makes both factory spec thin replacements, as well as thick ones. I was hoping since they are the same as factory that they would be legal, but kinda figured they wouldn't be. As for previous Mecgar mags, well they wouldn't feed right, would lock in the gun properly, you name it, I had tons of problems with them.
  15. oi! tis a silly thing I think. THough I understand the reasons, I think. Sucks to be a Beretta shooter I guess, as the only mags I've ever had that worked reliably are factory mags. Guess I'll just have to put up with breaking the rubber bottomed ones.
  16. hmm ok I just read the other mag question that I didn't see, but I'd still like some clarification here on using non factory parts on my mags that are of the same dimensions as the factory ones. For those of you Beretta shooters out there, you may know that the Elites come with mags with rubber base pads. Unfortunately those often break, I've gone through about 12 so far this past season, always on inserting the mag in the gun, not when dropping them on the floor. I am just wondering if I was to purchase aluminum base pads that are of the same size and shape as the rubber ones, if they are legal? they are not factory pads, but aftermarket, they do not increase the weight apparently, and as I said are the same overall dimensions as the factory rubber ones. They are also not +2 or anything like that. I've been told many different rulings on this and thought I'd ask here as I couldn't really figure it out by reading the rule book.
  17. funny I went back and re-read TGO's initial post to see if my thinking was off. Nope it still sounds the same. The same as what you ask? Who here has heard of Gunkid? well TGO's post sounds very similar to GK. Maybe TGO has multiple personalities and shows up on other boards as Gunkid? (please note dripping sarcasm)
  18. I disagree with you Jim, and yet I use a Langdon Tactical holster in IPSC Production, instead of a CR, and don't really notice much of a difference in draw times. Having said that though, I also know of people using CR rigs for Open Carry in the US, and at least two people using Ghost rigs for CCW (have no idea why).
  19. at a recent match a shooter was required to put his gun, unloaded, into a box, with all the mags in the box as well. At some point, somehow, apparently his hand went in front of the muzzle of the gun, in the box, and he was DQ'd for sweeping. We've had many many discussions about this up here and want to get a bigger take on it. Was this justified? If so, does that mean if I let my hand go below my holster (which is an open ended type, so the muzzle would be visible if you looked up inside) that I should be DQ'd for sweeping? whether or not the gun is loaded? Same would apply for people who have holsters with nothing over the muzzle, like Ghosts etc. Is the gun in the box not in the same state as the gun in the holster? and what about in the safety area when you are maybe cleaning your gun, and your hand goes in front of the muzzle, or whatabout when using a squib rod to get out a stuck bullet? all these things could be considered sweeping right? Does the rule book cover all of this, cause it it does I can't find it? Any other points or ideas on this people?
  20. thanks Vince, it wasn't me using it, I was just at the match and was asked to post this here. I'll keep everyone informed on what happens.
  21. This weekend we had a couple Quals, and a couple shooters noticed some errors in the scoring of Win MSS, some of the scores were out by -.0001, and others had +13 (not sure if that was this weekend or another match). these were confirmed by match officials. Anyone have any info on the calculations used in Win MSS?
  22. Actually I find dry firing in DA with my Beretta to be very beneficial. I usually do about 100-200 a night during the season, and then do another 100 or so single action (practicing the reset at the same time). I practice doubles, triples, and target transition at the same time. Using small 2 inch round dots as my targets 7 -10 ft away in my office.
  23. yeah I am very impressed by the detail in that answer. Watching KB2 I knew right away by what the narrator said, that it was the butchered version of the 6 movies. If you liked the original 6 flicks you should hunt down the 30 or so comics that Darkhorse just re-ran. absolutely amazing stuff. I had collected LW&C a long time ago, but the company putting them out in North America folded and I was stuck at issue 21 or something. Dark Horse finally picked up the rights and published 30 (I think) volumes that each contained 3 or 4 issues. I finally got to see the end of the story.
  24. ooooh well done! I was looking for White Heaven in Hell instead of Go To Hell Daigoro. I take it you are a fan? Have you read the comic series? I was rather excited when Dark Horse redid the entire series so that I could finally see how it ended. Oh and the bastardized re-edit was occasionally called, Shogun Assassin, and the new butchered story line had you believe that the Shogun sent the ninja to kill Itto, it was a lame version of a truly classic piece of Japanese film.
