  1. yep-the bass are starting to school up and chase shad. i'm in!
  2. having had lots of guns built over the years, i've had to opportunity to see some very interesting skills. thought there needed to be a post where these skills could be mentioned. i'll add a couple: many years ago i had a steel gun built. bought a new colt commander slide for it. my gunsmith worked on it for weeks and was getting close to finishing it when he called to say "we got a problem". i went to his shop and he showed me the issue. this new colt slide had a problem. upon close inspection, the firing pin stop channel cut under the rear of the slide was many thousandths larger than spec. a stock firing pin stop, once installed, had so much play that extraction was unsolvable. so he decides to machine one himself...actually 2 of them. he got out some steel, measured the channel, started chucking it in the mill and created a flat that fit. then drilled out the hole for the firing pin, relieved the part where it unlocks, heat treated it and the gun worked fine. i was impressed. shot that thing for years. the other fix was equally impressive. i had one of the first chip mccormick frames when they first came out. built an open gun with it and it was fine for a few months. then, during a reload, i punched the mag release right through the right side of the grip. the little channel inside the grip that retains the catch just broke through. i called chip and he said he'd ship another when the make the next batch, which was gonna be another month or so. had an area match coming up and panicked. my smith looks it over and comes up with an idea. here's where it got weird. he goes out of the shop, into his house and returns with a pin he took from his wife's sewing kit. he cuts the pin to a shorter length, heats up the pin and shoves it into the grip under the mag catch hole, passing thru the hole but retaining the little tang on the catch. solved that issue right there.
  3. i've only shot 4 pistol and 4 3-gun nationals. i was nervous as hell at the 1st of each. way many more good shooters than a club, sectional or area match, to be sure. but you absolutely have to approach it as just that-a big club match. enjoy the experience of shooting with the best shooters in the US...one's who for the most part earned a coveted slot to what is the national championship of our sport. if you haven't been to one yet, it should be on your bucket list...even if you have to go to barry
  4. dave-if it's a 2wire, it sounds like dsl, so you have a router. just go wireless-forget a hub or switch. i've got 4 of them at my house sharing the pipe. if it's dsl you don't have the bandwidth anyway.

    F1

flav probably has to pay out huge sums of $$$ to all his past poster girls. agree, spa and monza about the only tracks/races worth watching any longer.
  6. I have the welding cart from HF. Its sturdy as hell and will roll over anything. When modified, there is enough room for 4 long guns + and gear for 2 shooters. You need a truck or SUV to haul it though. I fit it in my wife's Accord once with the rear wheels removed from the cart and the back seats folded down, but it was tight! like this?
  7. again, i wasn't there, but application of the rules as they are at that point in time is the only option...period.
  8. looks fun, until you get to the stage with slugs, clays, plates, etc. love to see the mag pouch for this one.
  9. geezus...vogel shot 2 d's in the whole match...in production. i quit!
  10. like i said, we'd seen this before...not surprised. looks like jj might have given it up on that one stage though.
  11. always wanted to use that line "I have a .45 and a shovel, i doubt anyone would miss you". never got a chance. cleaning an 1100, an AR and an open gun when the boys showed up always worked fine.
  12. Instead of getting Nebraska vs VaTech, i'm stuck with USC vs Washington. Boring. guess i'll stay at the range.
  13. i dunno what the big deal is-i can do this trick all day...with an airsoft.

    SNAKE

i've killed 4 at my place in the last 16 years. hate rattlesnakes.
  15. Scoring shows 2M, 3NS.... Bad stage, it would appear... Not a bad stage.... he had to have a gun malfunction that caused him to stop shooting. He did not even fire the proper number of rounds. Something happened to his gun.... had to be. The NS and Mikes make me think something to do with the C_More or it's mount, but who knows?? he shot at least 12 rounds, the required number. every target on that stage had a no-shoot.
  16. it was a 60 point stage-we've seen this one before. there's almost another 500 points in the remaining 4 stages the super squad has to shoot. lot's of room to make it up...or?
  17. Actually the rule makes perfect sense. If the popper has been knocked down it is assumed to NOT be in the same state as it would be if it was left standing. Therefore, the subsequent calibration is not valid anymore since the state of the popper has changed since it failed to fall after the first hit. Seems like you might be forgetting that poppers are supposed to be calibrated for power factor with a dedicated range gun and ammo and just because a popper fails to fall it is not neccessarily assumed to be out of calibration, the competitiors load could be at fault. I think it is always best to hit steel once and if you know you got a good clean hit, leave it standing and move on to finish the stage. After the stage is complete, ask the RO for a calibration. agree with larry-once it's down, there's no way to re-create it's state. arguably, once you strike it with a bullet, or many bullets, the state also can change...i have seen one pesky popper get doubled after it was shot more than once. resetting it and calibrating it proved it was set too stiff. it's a tough deal. i personally would not leave a popper with one "clean" hit. if i'm smacking it several times, that's another story.
  18. sharyn, your idea is great, but unfortunately it isn't working on my end. i tried it on multiple connections, still sloooooowwwww. got a huge pipe here and the bandwidth is super. however, these vids are still coming across like stop and go claymation. thank you for trying to connect those of us that aren't there.
