  1. if you have the coin, an atlas or doall electric is way to go. you can place it out at 16 yards, you can move to the left and right to get practice on different presentations. a manual thrower, no matter how good will always be at the same line you are at.
  2. Place a prop under one arm, attach said prop to a Popper or a door or a whatever, place a weight on the arm, maybe 5 pounds, activate star by opening door or shooting popper, have fun!
  3. There is really only ONE way to have a "Factory Division" any where. You do an IROC division. Pick a manufacturer, Pick a model from them, have them supply a sufficient quantity of units to use in the match, same for ammo. Now, you could do this for a National Championship where there were a very limited number of shooters that would be given their equipment only at the venue and under supervision be allowed a couple days to sight in and familiarize after which the match is on. Any thing else in the world we live in in 3Gun is going to be hell to administrate. I have a JP, sort of. It has a Hyper Fire trigger, a Vortex Scope a Larue Mount, a Veltor stock and a bunch of little bits stuck on hear and there, an Ergo grip, a replacement Comp. Am I now in Open? I suppose. How about I put the JP stock and trigger back> The comp is available from JP, not sure about the scope and mount? Would they too have to be 'factory' only usable if the manufacturer sold them with the gun? What about my MOA Stoeger? Since Tom did the work and Tom is a 'manufacturer, is this a 'Factory Gun'? How about instead we define what is allowed and isn't, the rifle has to be an A2 with a carry handle and a 20" barrel, iron sights, no 'target sights. the trigger cannot be adjustable. Pistol use USPSA Production or Single Stack rules, Shotgun? 4 rounds in the tube (5? becasue Stoeger has 5?) No porting or other modifications such as extended safeties and bolts? I think we'd kill this off rather quickly. Tac Optics, No Bi-Pod, 30 rounds loaded, one optic, one back-up iron, HG 15 rounds, no optic, no ports, SG, tubes only, limit to 8 rounds?, milling the loading port OK becasue we don't want to piss off everyone that has already done this and make expensive paperweights. 24" barrel minimum? Just a few random thoughts after reading bits and pieces of this thread.
  4. Actually anyone that shoots at our club can access our site. the results are not in a protected area. True they are not organized with any other matches, but any match you shoot with us is posted to our site and stays there. Right now we have scores up dating back 9 years! At one point in time we used to also put the stage designs up. May go back to that in the future. Anyway. If USPSA sees fit to allow us to post scores as easily to their site as we do now with PS for the activity report, I am not opposed. I just don't go through the extra gyrations needed to post at this point. I work 11 hours a day and match days are usually at least that long for a lot less pay ($0.00 in case anyone wondered)
  5. Peter, We upload ONLY the classifiers to USPSA, all the rest go only to our own site. For a Level 2 or 3, I agree, but for a club match? I don't think it is necessary and I personally think it only clutters up the USPSA servers with unnecessary files. My opinion only of course. This allows us to post all the results including the 'unofficial' combined results that most of our shooters want to see all in one place. And it allows me to totally exclude EzWin from my day. (and that is a WIN!)
  6. Been silent on this for a long time. WHY NOT? Why shouldn't ALL of our available targets be legal and any stage? Put Stop-signs, Metrics, Minis, Mini Poppers and Pepper Poppers and Square and round plates, classic poppers, mini classic poppers and Colt speed plates all out there on one stage. Allow any target to be designated a No-Shoot simply by shape. We could make this exciting again.
  7. Sounds good, but remember, the rounds in the tube are pushing against both rounds, It would be nice but they don't just drop out
  8. We use an online form service, Formstack. It lets us create our own custom form that collects the data we need to satisfy our club as well as to populate the Nooks. A couple of our other disciplines have inhouse people that are able to create their own forms and they use them. Information we want includes: Are you a new shooter? Are you a member of this club? Are you and RO/CRO? we could ask additional questions, as many as we need, but this information so far as I have seen in my limited looks around is not available on the ready made sign up services. We don't collect money in advance and the form builder only costs us one a year, we use it across several places so there are no 'per shooter fees'. We have looked at online squadding and that is where the services would be better, but we don't so far think that is workable for us. We have issues with squadding that we need to address monthly and of course the 'full squads' that show up half empty. The people that all want to shoot with (Your Name Here) even though he really doesn't want to shoot with them and now his friends are blocked out. We feel that we'll be doing as much work on match day if not more than we do now. Our matches run as many as 100 on a good day, rarely below 50.
  9. I looked up what I spent. If I had not had the Kick-Eze installed, it would have been $860+/- shipped. I am not going to claim that this is everything a Benelli is, Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. we'll have to see after a few ten thousands of rounds. I've been using my OU for clays, but maybe I'll change up and shoot the Stoeger for a while just to rack up the miles so to speak. The one thing that holds true across all SGs is this, it has to run and you have to be able to load it fast and shoot it fast.
  10. My brother has established a mantra, Information, Communication, Cooperation. So I have now received 'Information' as it has been 'Communicated' and I will look at running my next match on two separate nooks per stage, one for the whole match and one just for my squad using the current release I am running without issue and also the 1.2.25 beta. We shall see how they compare and if I have any issues
  11. Your bullets go where the gun is pointed. If you are missing, it means you are not pointing the gun at the target at the instant you fire the gun.
  12. I wonder... would it be wrong to ask someone that knows to post sort of a hierarchy of who's Who with Practiscore? Obviously there are some divisions of labor and responsibility here that may be causing some misunderstandings as to why certain things are the way they are. We have two different operating systems that work on multiple machines, some better than others with mostly the same, but some different features. Maybe this is out there and we (OK, Me, I) don't know where it is. If it is, point me to it. It might help to get questions asked of hte proper person with regard to the platform in use. Then again, I could be wrong. I know that from my perspective, PS works very well using an IPad as the Master and Nooks as data collectors. In the past I had to use a laptop and import/exprt back and forth and needed EzWin for the activity report. With the IPad I don't need that hassle any more. We don't post our scores anywhere except on our own website so that is not an issue for us. I realize others do post to PS and also USPSA. I also realize that we only use this for Steel, USPSA and Points Plus 3-Gun, but that about covers it, OK IDPA has maybe a few different issues, I don't know, I don't play that game. Anyway. THANK YOU! Friday night I had the scores done in a matter of less than 5 minutes after the last shot was fired. If I had connections I could have posted the scores within 10 minutes of the last shot. This is simply awesome! Jim
  13. I'll chime in here on a 3-gun shotgun for under a grand. After reading through the hundreds of posts on the Stoeger M3k and shooting my buddies Benelli. I did some calculations, got prices on a Benelli, looked at the costs of having it 'professionally' worked over, polish, mill, tube, trigger etc, and kept hitting up near $1,800.00 I got hold of Tom at MOA, he was able to get a Stoeger M3k to me completely done up, tube, trigger, action, milling, kick-eze (Old guy here, didn't need any extra recoil) including shipping to my FFL for under $1000, or almost exactly the best price I could find on an unmodified Benelli. Now with SG ammo at about $60 a case, this equated to about 4,000 rounds of ammo for practice. Am I saying that the M3k is the absolute best out there? No idea really. Oh and 4k of practice ammo isn't for you, you could have a complete back-up gun built and still be only the cost of one Benelli.
  14. Bill, Why don't you just put euxx on 'ignore' if you don't want to see what he writes? That way you won't have to read his posts and we won't have to see your posts ranting at him. I for one am very happy that a handful of people have taken the time to create a scoring platform that covers just about any possible Actin Shooting Sport, Steel Challenge, USPSA, IPSC, IDPA, Multi-Gun and probably Cowboy and made it available for FREE. Are there problems? Sure, but noe so far are show-stoppers and it keeps getting better. Are there differences between IOs and Android platforms? Yup! and being about as computer literate as any 60+ guy with a 3rd grade education I admit, I don't have a real deep understanding of why all the platforms can't look the same, but I equate it to a Chevy engine and a Ford Engine, they will both do the job, but the parts aren't interchangeable even if the theories are the same.
  15. I used to, but it is so much easier to use the IPad to add shooters, collect and post scores. Just runs better. Now, IF I had a 'full size' android tablet instead of a Nook, maybe...
  16. Not saying I'd use a Laptop on a stage, I wouldn't, but I could use it as a master instead of having to buy an IPad. And windows tablets are getting cheaper as there are a lot of manufacturers out there, not just one for Apple. I am and I have not had issues yet. (Don't jinx me please) I have named each device so I am not looking for 0A23 but rather OBCATS 1, OBCATS 2 etc. that never changes regardless of the other IDs seems to work, but I know next to nothing about computers
  17. I don't want to start a new thread, but the comment regarding 'Obsolete devices' made me think to post this here. We have Android and we have IOs devices running Practiscore. Nooks are obsolete. IOS is expensive and fragile. Why no a Windows version that could run as one across platforms, Tablets and laptops? Just asking as what I know about computer programing can be written on the head of a pin with a magic marker
  18. OK, Works for me. Just like to know that I haven't missed the boat.
  19. Steve, I have some hearing loss and after being harangued by my wife and daughter for a couple years decided to look into hearing aids and hearing protection. I chose SportEar. There was a special at FNH in 2013. I am generally happy with them although it was a rough start. Yes they are expensive. They do allow me to hear whatever is happening around me and unless I am ROing a Comped gun I have no issues. Rifles, Shotguns and regular handguns are fine. These have 4 settings, Standard is low enhancement, second brings in a bit more, third opens up and you hear EVERYTHING, forth clips the loud noises extremely well. Now, I generally have them set on the standard or 2nd spot and even regularly shoot with them in that setting outdoors. .Anytime there is a really loud noise, they clamp right down on it. Took a while to get used to them, but I have finally. Two things I have found. One buy batteries in bulk, they last about 4 to 4-1/2 days, $0.80 each. Second, store them upright with the outside up and in part that goes into your ear down. As for Health Insurance coverage, that will depend upon your policy, sadly mine does not cover this. You MAY be able to claim them as a requirement for your work, but I would make sure and be careful on that one. I mentioned wearability. I have over the years had several pairs of custom molded earplugs. By the end of the day I am glad to take them out, these I am lately forgetting I have them in.
  20. My input having suffered with this problem for more years than I care to think. Been wearing glasses for nearly 50 years (probably should have had them sooner, maybe I'd have seen what teacher was writing on the board, but that is a different story) When I had single prescription it was fine, I shot Irons in Pistol and Rifle and did quite well. THEN I got my variables. I could no longer see my sights clearly. What I did was with the help of my optometrist was to use my regular glasses and a series of additional lenses to work up the best combination to see the front sight clearly and still see the targets. I can't Use two different focus lengths as in shooting 3-Gun I need to be able to shoot strong or weak with rifle and shotgun so I have one focal length that is about 6" in front of my outstretched arms. I Adjust the scope to offset this and I am good to go.
  21. Perhaps a dumb question here. My friends and I have signed up, been promoted and paid our bill. We are 'in the match'. Now how do we handle squadding? I didn't see anywhere to request squad with when I signed up and I don't see anything regarding squadding anywhere now. I am sure that somewhere there must be a way to get squadded with or in some cases insure you don't get squadded with someone.
  22. Vlad, I have named all the devices and using the IPAd as a Master I am not having issues.
