  1. Screw backs out, sear spring force reduces, gun can double fire or go full auto. Personally, I think the sear spring is something you dial in until you get it right and then leave it alone. I'm not sure I would want one that was set by a screw. Adjusting the spring may take a bit of tweaking, but it can be done pretty quickly. Last time I set up a trigger, I figured out something a lot of people probably already knew: It is possible to drop the mainspring housing and sneak the sear spring in and out without any other disassembly (I got pretty good at it). You don't even have to remove the slide. The only down side is that there will be slight tension on the mainspring and you have to force the MS housing up a bit with your thumb as you push the pin in or out. If you don't want to deal with that, pop the slide stop out and let the slide go forward far enough to take the tension off the hammer.
  2. It was my understanding that one of the benefits of going to a a reduced mass hammer (autos or revos) is the higher velocity they can attain gives a better energy tranfer from the mainspring to the firing pin. Ergo, you can use a lighter mainspring (which gives a lighter trigger pull) and still get reliable primer ignition. The question arises from the "bobbed hammer" often done on a carry revolver (which is admittedly, a small change in hammer mass but is located farthest from the pivot). Some have said this actually increases hammer strike energy slightly. I recall somebody here selling low mass comp hammers for revos for the express purpose of getting lighter trigger pull. Any expert gun tuners who can comment on this? Thanks. Always want to make sure I am not propogating an urban myth.
  3. All the really great ones have X-ray vision that can see right through their eyelids.
  4. I didn't know that. A guy on the Calguns forum told me that he actually went to his local Sheriff and asked about selling his Beretta 92 and the "standard cap" (15 round) mags he had. The Sheriff told him he could only sell the gun, not the mags but he could put them in the trash. I did not know "finding" mags was illegal as well. Maybe so. What's even more absurd is who would ever write a law that addressed the issue of whether finding something was illegal?
  5. Yes, it has some stimulant qualities and so is a vaso constrictor. Migraines work by a sudden dialtion of blood vessels in the head, so vaso constrictors help (including caffeine). When I get a migrainem, I hit it with three barrels: 1) Imitrex nasal inhaler (20 mg) 2) Feverfew 3) Compazine And tylenol/darvons for pain. Don't know why compazine (an anti nasuea drug) is supposed to help, but the migraine doctor told me it has been shown to work. Couldn't hurt.
  6. Dem was some big arms!!! And the accounts here in local news say it took the poor nurse 35 minutes to find a vein in them big steroid-deformed arms.
  7. The Wilson booklet on 1911's is the best buy out there, It has a picture for every step, only cost about $15. Go to the Wilson Combat site and they sell them. For more advanced work, the Kuhnhausen manulas on the Colt 45 and the 1911 are the best. Brownells sells them.
  8. Just eyeballed it on their website. That is one seriously beautiful gun.
  9. I believe TMC is selling his Open and Limited guns, which are CA legal and with Hi-cap mag tubes for the Open gun. It is absolutely and unequivocally illegal to in any way transfer posession of a hi-cap magazine from one person to another here in kali. period. If you obtain high-cap tubes and build up magazines, that is also a felony, no exceptions.
  10. They guy at STI warned me that exactly when I called to ask if I could drop in an "extended" slide lock into my Trojan. He said they are fitted so tight that you have to measure them.
  11. ding! ding! ding! we have a winner. elevation screw for the bomar 10 clams. the itty bitty spring 1 clam. oh well! At least they were honest: they called it a "screw" and it was......
  12. It's not crucial, it just means you were a pirate in a former life.
  13. In the immortal words of the poet (Judge Judy): Beauty fades....... but dumb is FOREVER.
  14. I hate the fact that the majority of drivers seem to think the expressways are parking lots every time rain drops hit their windshields. For krissake, it's just water. As my dad used to say about rain: "Unless you're made of sugar, you aren't going to melt!" Buy some tires with tread, get your stupid foot off the brake and DRIVE!
  15. You might want to try a Browning HP. They are small (shorter grip) and thin, and also have a short trigger reach. Made in both 9mm and .40SW. It is very concealable and reliable.
  16. [Tear down details for LDA: Right here... 11 lines down from the top: http://www.m1911.org/technic_forum.htm good luck.
  17. Probably a short video with a gunsmith going: "neener-neener-neener......." Followed by a graphic showing his address and hourly rates.
  18. On my new 226R, the big cross pin in the slide is not a "roll" pin, it's a friction pin with a tapered head. It only can be driven out in one direction and I forget which way that is. And you will need a kryptonite punch BTW.I got a Sig armorer's manual and it was for the older guns with the removable breech block assembly which are totally different than the new guns.
  19. Well, you already wrote what I was thinking. You can put any bells and whistles you want on a Para and it's still a Para.
  20. Jay Krauter who was head of Para north American service. He does work on his own time. He is very capable of working over an LDA. I used to have his number but lost it. You may be able to get him through Para. Try this number: Here is the number of Jay Krauter who I believe heads up Para USA service: 865-774-4970
  21. Come to kalifornia where the wait time is INFINITY or until hell freezes over...... In Kali, the rejection is much quicker. I called the local PD and asked the secretary of the guy who would have to sign off to issue one: she told me he had not approved a permit in more than a decade (that's probably how long she had worked there).
  22. No way.... the president says there is no such thing as global warming and that's good enough for me!Keep driving those Hummers....... I live in kali, and the Pacific has also been bad for the last few years with the "El Nino" effect where there is a mass of warmer-than-average water off the coast. Last year our area got just about DOUBLE annual average rainfall in northern kali (Bay area).
  23. Sure getting tired of all these supercharged hurricanes trashing the US. Next time you have a party, dump the leftover ice in the Gulf of Mexico. That warm water is killing us.
  24. Rotation downward or going "low left" can be from clenching the dominat hand gripping fingers in "sympathy" for the trigger finger's pulling action. Holding a firm and STEADY pressure with the three grip fingers and letting the trigger finger pull independently will probably cure it.... and it is one of the most difficult skills to master.
  25. AMEN! TELL IT, BROTHER!They just had to have that "sports car" for their midlife crisis, but couldn't drive it if their life depended on it.....
