  1. This is more than likely too late. Check the weather before you leave it sounds like it is going to be COLD. Last weekend at the 12 Hours of Sebring (car race) it was way too hot now this weekend cold, go figure.
  2. I am looking forward to March. I will be in the Sebring area twice in two weeks. The weekend before the match is the 12 hours of Sebring (a car race) which is more fun than should be allowed.
  3. Jacques Chirac, The French Prime Minister, was sitting in his office wondering what kind of mischief he could perpetrate against the United States when he was interrupted by a telephone call. "Hallo, Mr. Chirac! a heavily accented voice said. "This is Paddy down at the Harp Pub in County Sligo, Ireland. I am ringing to inform you that we are officially declaring war on you!" "Well, Paddy," Chirac replied, "this is indeed important news! How big is your army?" "Right now," said Paddy, after a moment's calculation, "there is myself, me cousin Sean, me next door neighbor Seamus, and the entire dart team from the pub. That makes eight!" Chirac paused. "I must tell you, Paddy, that I have one hundred thousand men in my army waiting to move on my command." "Begorra!" said Paddy. "I'll have to ring you back!" Sure enough, the next day, Paddy called again. "Mr. Chirac, the war is still on. We have managed to get us some infantry equipment!" "And what equipment would that be, Paddy? Chirac asked. "Well, we have two combines, a bulldozer, and Murphy's farm tractor." Chirac sighed, amused. "I must tell you, Paddy, that I have 6,000 tanks and 5,000 armored personnel carriers. Also, I've increased my army to one hundred fifty-thousand since we last spoke." "Saints preserve us!" said Paddy. "I'll have to get back to you." Sure enough, Paddy rang again the next day. "Mr. Chirac, the war is still on!" We have managed to get ourselves airborne! We've modified Jackie McLaughlin's ultra-light with a couple of shotguns in the cockpit, and four boys from the Shamrock Pub have joined us as well!" Chirac was silent for a minute and then cleared his throat. "I must tell you, Paddy, that I have 100 bombers and 200 fighter planes. My military complex is surrounded by laser-guided, surface-to-air missile sites. And since we last spoke, I've increased my army to two hundred thousand!" " Saints preserve us! said Paddy; "I'll have to ring you back." Sure enough, Paddy called again the next day. "Top o' the mornin', Mr. Chirac! I am sorry to tell you that we have had to call off the war." "I'm sorry to hear that," said Chirac. "Why the sudden change of heart?" "Well," said Paddy, "we've all had a long chat over a bunch of pints, and decided there's no foo-kin way we can feed two hundred thousand prisoners.
  4. Ok, no more fast replies for me then.
  5. Kevin, Man you would think I had called him a bad name or something. I shoot with him all of the time and I think we have given each other a harder time on the range. Ed
  6. Don’t quit your day job you will go very hungry trying to be a comedian. I don’t care who you are that’s not funny…..
  7. We had one of our rare cold weekends here in Florida and I learned the hard way that Slide Glide #1 should indeed not be used under 50 degrees. My Limited gun built by Gun Doc which never jams had 4 jams in 5 stages. The gun was cleaned just before Christmas and put away for the holiday. So the lube was nice and fresh and fully packed. That will teach me to read the tech specs won’t it. Just placed an order for the Lite version. BTW – to you folks up North in the low 40’s for the 1st stage might not be that cold but the gun did not like it. Have a good one.
  8. Paul - Once you show them that a Southern boy can take the cold have them come down for a hurricane.

    The Sith Sense

I tried something different. I answered incorrectly and randomly and the program just locked. Testing software can be so much fun.
  10. I am in need of a gun safe and was wondering if anyone had any input. I do want it to be fire rated. Thanks
  11. I guess I am the only one who would not miss them.
  12. I have always loaded my 40’s using a carbide die w/o any lube. I have been nursing a bad case of tennis elbow which is finally feeling better. However, when I went to load on my 650 today my elbow hurt some. I sprayed a little silicon on the cases in the case feeder which made things go much better. My question is do I need to tumble the silicon off of the loaded rounds? Thanks
  13. To use the longer OAL the barrel must be throated to match. A standard 40 chamber will not chamber some of the longer rounds we use. Your statement “But once I did I encountered Failure to Chamber problems” could have several meanings. If you mean that the round was fully in the chamber but the slide would not completely close would indicate that you barrel is not throated to match the OAL you tried to use. Just as a note my SV will feed factory length just fine most of the time. That is I will have a problem every 500 to 1000 rounds. However, when I load my rounds out to 1.200 there is never a problem. To find out if your rounds are too long for the chamber take the barrel (out of the gun) and drop a sized empty case in it and note where the head is in relationship to the hood. Now drop your loaded round in, if it does not go as far into the chamber it is too long for you barrel.
  14. You know those who do not live here in Florida will never understand this string.
  15. I finally had a chance to load up a few test loads with Ramshot competition and chrono them. I had a much different experience than the folks above. The variation was terrible to say the least. For example with 5.2 grains loaded at 1.200” the velocity was from 885 to 978. I wanted to check the chrono to make sure it was not having problems, even though I could feel the difference, so I put some of my VIT rounds over it with normal results. Just for information I load on a 650 and have not had any problems with the measure. Any ideas? With the price of VIT I need to find something to replace it. HELP Thanks Ed Lawson L415 Ps. It has taken this long to get this done as I live in Florida and work for a Power Company. With Hurricane after Hurricane I am just getting back to shooting.
  16. I live in Stuart Florida need I say more!
  17. I also just switched to a dot. I found that I like the MicroDot as well and at Bob's suggestion the yellow works best for me. The red was so bright that I could not see the top of the sight in our Florida sun. That is before all of the dang hurricanes started hitting us.
  18. I just switched to a dot front sight myself and find that the yellow works best for me.
  19. The price of VW seems to have gone through the roof. Has anyone tried Ramshot Competition as a replacement for 320? The burn rate chart in their literature puts it right next to 320. I know that Titegroup is very popular on this forum so what about a comparison to Titegroup as well. Thanks Ed Lawson L415
  20. Go to Home Depot and get a hardwood rod that just fits in the tube.
  21. When I had the problem with mud in the brass the decap pin just punched a nice hole in the mud which I guess then closed back up after reloading.
  22. You stated that you use once fired brass. Going with the assumption that you are buying once fried brass from some source check for mud etc. being compacted in the bottom of the case. I had a batch of once fired brass where I had the same problem which turned out to be junk that did not come out in the tumbler.
  23. Titegroup question I load 40 for my SV Limited gun and have been using Vit N340 for sometime now. I am running low on powder and need to purchase more and see that the cost of Titegroup is much lower than Vit. Before purchase I thought I would check out this site for info. In the past on this forum I would see nothing but praise for Titegroup. However, I do not see much mention of Titegroup lately. Is it still highly thought of? BTW – I load Zero 180gr HP’s to an oal of 1.200”
