  1. I have been openly pro-gun for many, many years. I really don’t care about the anti-types. I really don’t know of any in my neighborhood but I also know of a couple of neighbors who have kids that have been in trouble and spent time due to drugs. AND this is in a somewhat above average income, middle class neighborhood. Sign of the times I guess. It’s those types and the “I have a neighbor,” that we all engage in front of the wrong person. Kind of the 6 degrees of separation thing. I have heard gossip about people who I have never met and what kind of classic cars they have in a garage that I have never been to. I also have met people I don’t know very well socially and in conversation gun ownership comes up and then people blurt out that they have a friend, family or whatever that owns the xyz firearms etc. THAT’S the thing I really am starting to think about. What’s to say that kind of conversation doesn’t occur in front of a criminal somewhere downstream and then my home is targeted. I never worried about it much before and while I won’t say I’m paranoid about it I am defiantly MORE aware of this kind of thing now more so in the past. Heck I have gone to matches for years and left keys in cars, a carry gun on the seat of my car, gear left out in the open etc. and never worried or had an issue.
  2. With the recent crap going on and any possible legislation I personally have reviewed my outward daily display of being a gun owner. The lowlife "newspaper" published the list of gun owners in the north east and at least 2 known burglary attemts due to that. Just yesterday in my hometown there was a burglary and that was followed by the suspect doing stupid shit, a police chase, wreck, arrests etc. Form inital reports the lowlife was looking to target a home with a gun to steal. While I have no problem whatsoever making the "Armed Citizen" so to speak my wife does not shoot. And no matter what we all leave our homes and cars unattended at some point. I have no problem with the folks I know in the shooting community knowing more about what I have because its the same kind of guys. I used to be more open about my shooting hobby with neighbors etc. but realized that word of mouth travels. Over the last few years I have made it a point to be more careful about carrying cased weapons to and from my cars in the driveway. I now do it with the garage door closed. I did have a couple small window decals supporting shooting sports that were not really recognizable but by shooters. I took them off recently. Also over the last few years I have made it a point when asked by neighbors about shooting that I have pared back and have very few guns at this point. Some have guns or are gun friendly but I realized that water cooler talk leads to more people knowing more about you than you know. People who you have never met. If I had it to do over I would never admit to any neighbor of owning anything unless I was spotted and then Id tell them the case had an air rifle or paint ball gun or such. I do have guys at work who shoot and I probably still say to much in front of them but its hard to stop sometimes. I mean I can drive down the road and see a truck or car with a few NRA stickers and pro gun stuff and its easy to see what care I would break into if I were a criminal. I changed my screen name here for that very reason. It wont be long before criminals are trolling sites like this possibly looking to find sources to try and steal from. IF they are not already. Of course this is just my opinion and I still write and support pro gun causes. I went to the state house rally a couple weeks ago. I remember reading that a year or two ago that gangs tag cars at gunshops and follow them for later theft. And it happend at a LasVegas event if I remember correctly. Has anyone else rethought their personal security situation as it pertains to being open for theft or worse?
  3. At his moment I'm in a factory full of them. People do seem to love them. They have the variable shiftless tranny which is kind different for anyone who hasn't driven a car with one. Everyone here who has one tells me they rarely have any issues with them and I have never heard anyone who bought say they regret it. I may end up with one in a few years. We can't build them fast enough and forced over time and Saturday production is likely going to cause conflict with my match schedule this season.
  4. Funny thats where I work! (where the outback is made) I like my Dakota. With a hard shell flat cover on the bed its easy to reach into. Not as high as 1/2 ton truck which can be a pain to reach stuff in the bed. Plus its lockable. The only thing I dont like about the SUV route is if you have any stuff in the back and park anywhere its easy for anyone to "window shop". I had a Cherokee but got rid of it for that reason.
  5. Cleaning your own brass? Tumbler and media seperator? Drillspot for media. I just got a bag and its some nice stuff.
  6. I just got the 3 i had backordered for a couple weeks from springfield. They came in a ziplock bag, not the blister package. Im set on XD XDm mags for many years. The most I could ever need is springs. I have taken all the mags (4 each flavor) that I use for match and they stay in the safe. The surplus back up new ones are stored in a totally seperate location just in case.
  7. Very sorry and know you did the best thing. I had to do the same a few months back. It hurts like hell and always wiil. Think about the fun times.
  8. I have a had one for for over a decade. Never had one feed a upside down primer. Ever. Never had a RF and have no input on the relliabilty of them. I have loaded thousands of primers via vibraprime and NEVER had one go the wrong way.
  9. I use the existing Dillon pickup tubes I had. Plus the ones that came with it. Funny how passionate guys can get about a primer. Too bad we all cant get this excited over our gun rights. Im off to the state capital for the rally.
  10. That statement shows that you don't know what your are talking about. You don't bolt the dillon unit down it just sits there on 4 rubber feet. Don't want it on the bench, put it on the floor or screw a small shelf to the wall, not that big of a deal. Having never seen one you don't understand how easy the RF is, you dump a box of primers onto the top and press a button once. At that point you continue loading, about 50 rounds into that 100 the machine shuts off. The VP and homemade units are a good value but certainly not better than a good running RF-100. If you have one that isn't working right you would disagree but sleep well knowing I would still give you two VP's for it...pm if interested. Didnt know it did not require mounting but it still has a footprint that takes up space. Glad you like your RF but I will take the $300 and save the money. I never bought a RF and wont. Personal choice.
  11. I agree to disagree! Id bet the vibraprime outsells the overpriced RF at a rate that makes Frankford Arsenal blush. IF you prefer the Dillon Im happy that your happy but the almost $300 diff is money in my pocket or in more supplies. I can load 10 tubes in about 10-12 minutes. Like I said I love Dillon stuff and blue is the only color in my reloading stuff but this is an easy choice for me. My first one lasted for close to 10 years. I still like the fact I dont have to mount it to the bench and tie up space.
  12. The VP is manual, you have to fill tubes with it by hand, it just helps get the primers in the tubes quicker than pecking at a primer tray. The RF- 100 is automatic. Dump the primers in, go back to loading ammo. When you need more primers you just dump the tube from the RF- 100 into your loader reload it and turn it on to fill the tube again. While you are loading ammo it is filling the tube, its actually faster than a Vibra Prime. Kinda curious why you ordered 2 RF- 100s? Converting one from large to small (or small to large) only takes 5 minutes or less... The Vibra Prime is not better. You have to take the time to sit down and load a bunch of of tubes with it, like pecking at a primer tray only better. It is lots cheaper than the RF, but the RF- 100 does the job automatically. You won't be disappointed. jj Gotta disagree. The VibraPrime is better. Easy and fast. Doesnt take up reloading bench space by being bolted down which is a biggie for me and maybe others. Plus for what it costs with a conversion to do large and small I can take the left over and buy about 10,000 primers. I love my blue stuff but this is a easy pick for me.
  13. Got a heads up from a buddy and I will defiantly be getting one to put back. I had to break out my backup last year when my original one died. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/890424/frankford-arsenal-vibra-prime-automatic-primer-tube-filler
  14. PV is taking backorders. I placed an order yesterday. I also placed a BO for Hornady 55 gr bullets. I dont know how long that will take but I dont mind. I have a few K of brass to prep in the mean time.
  15. My order shipped and should be here Friday. Big thanks to PV for doing the right thing and holding the line on prices.
  16. Midway has some. I ordered last night they will only let you order 2 at time. Thats OK cause I only really want 4 so I will get a couple more asap.
  17. Trying to find and BO some of the unobtainium 55 gr Hornady bullets. Midway isn’t even taking BO's, most other vendors I see like Natchez is listing the same delivery date of 2014 for ETA. The current situation is understandable. Does anyone have any insight on who gets first shipments? I have the usual in stock notifications as most of us may have with vendors but someone has to be top of the list to get stuff I would think. I have a small stash of 69gr SMK loaded for use and some surp 55 gr stuff like PMC TAC I’d prefer to hold that back for a rainy day and that should get me by for a while but I’d like to not get into the reserve stuff. BTW another shout out for Powder Valley. I got an invoice and tracking # for my latest order of supplies in this crazy market and they did NOT mark up prices from what they were a month ago.
  18. Tag. Most places are showing a in stock date for Hornady of 2014 Why even bother with a date over a year away? I guess the next great question is who is the next best??

    Waiting

Stuck at the dealership waiting. Not a big enough job to leave it but still a couple hours I could be doing something. Same thing when waiting on stuff like getting tires installed. How did we manage before smartphones to surf while waiting!
  21. Brrr,,,makes me shiver just going to and from work. Thank God for remote starters! BUT it was almost 60 here on Saturday and got out to burn up a couple hundred rounds of multiple calibers.
  22. I probably should post this in the what I hate but the "speculators" suck. And they are everywhere at the moment including classifieds here. Not as much as other places. It says a lot about the class of a company like PV that they are not jacking prices along with other vendors in the shooting industry. We also have people in the classified area that are not out to profiteer. Thumbs up to those with class.
  23. I have some of them on BO for my 5.25 and at Brownells. Today I got 3 more XD 13 round 45 mags I had ordered from Tombstone.
