  1. that's funny.......and true I remember the IRC and how long it took between stages, then i heard it was the Cliff Walsh Fan Club causing the delay, they wanted to see their leader...we took a photo of them waiting for "silver bullet" (light) to streak by. michaels
  2. mike - it's not really for the maj power factor thing. I've been taking my 38 special cases and cutting them to short colt length, then using a 170 grain bullet. You can make a cutter for under 40 bucks and it takes about 20 seconds to cut and remove the burr. Then you've got a shorter case, goes into the cylinder faster, but comes out faster and has less chance to hang up coming out. Load data is similar to 9mm, the case is the same length. By using just regular old brass, I don't have to purchase short colt moons and only get brass from Starline. Should I ever need to borrow ammo while at a match, anybodys 38 ammo should fit the moons. If you're one of those guys that keeps reloading brass till powder falls thru the cracks, it's a great way to recycle old cases. I've tried the major route with them and it's not worth the effort for me, I miss the target just a well with minor as major, so I save the powder. But the added weight of the 170 over the 158 seems to help my reloads. The extra weight in the cylinder may hinder a lighter trigger pull/cylinder rotation, but I think it's worth it for the loading ease. The 170's seem to do a better job on the steel at a longer distance. Sorta like reloading gap for the 625, do you really need a cartridge this short? No, but it's fun to make one and have it work... michaels
  3. Keep the standards, but drop the penalty time down... Have two IRC's, one on the west coast where it is now, and then one over by "Silver Bullet" Walsh, I'l like to see that side of country, and having a match there would let me do it...maybe even have the same course of fire, having smaller match attendance would make it easier to run. With Nelson living back that way, he could run it till he's in a wheelchair. michaels
  4. were you talking about this guy with the hole in the hand? michaels
  5. Just so that you don't get caught by surprise, the 333 holder doesn't cover the body of the speed loader and therefore isn't legal equipment for IDPA. Most won't know the rules regarding revolvers but at a bigger match you would probably get noticed. Here is the quote from the rulebook. D. Either be of open top configuration that holds the speedloader in by tension and covers the full diameter and body of the speedloader or retain the speedloader with a snap or Velcro closure. Passed inspection at a couple of big matches and one state match, the 333's lock the speedloader in place and you must unlock them before you can pull them out. With cutdown speedloaders they sit a little lower, I saw a photo awhile back of some guy named Wilson who was wearing them at a match many years ago. I've compared them to the legal blade tech's and the 333's cover more. I always bring the blade tech's just in case somebody has a question about the 333's and I can show them. In the rules, retain the speedloader with a snap left a little to the imagination, since the 333's have a built in snap to hold them in place, not a snap that somebody might say must cover the speedloader. Just part of gaming it I guess.... michaels
  6. the 15 is a great gun for SSR, I use a 19 4", but I have wanted to experiment with the 19 2.5 model, but we don't have enough matches per year to break out all the wheel guns...I use the Safariland comp 3's and the Safariland 333 holder, just cut one holder off and carry two on one side and the other one on the opposite side. For a while, I loaded up some 95 grain 380 lead bullets and made PF. Really was a sweet way to go, but now I prefer the heavier bullets for getting the rounds in there quicker. I've been using the cheapest holster out there, the paddle fobus, it's been doing ok for now. michaels
  7. Man, I'd be careful trying to use bullets that heavy in Short Colt brass..... best load so far....worked great today in a match, scared away danbagger and bagakis with them (they're really at Piru doing steel) - haven't put them under the chrono yet, but I used my load for 158's and it seem a little eaiser to shoot. Accuracy was good, nailed plates out to 30 yards with them. The cases are the same length as 9mm, just took my 9mm loads for the 147 grainers and moved it over to these with the 158 grainers, now with 170's they are almost as long as 38 long colts. And they fit in the regular hearthco moons for standard 38 brass. Takes about 30 seconds start to finish to cut one and deburr it, or just cut them and tumble them for about 2 hrs seems to do the trick, but I like to play with the dremel and pretend that I'm doing serious work with it... mike
  8. thank you, (me being portuguese should have figured that one out).... Great brass, started sorting them out, talking these and cutting them to 38 short colt length, stuffing them with a 170 grain Bear Creek and they just disappear into the cylinder. They fit in the standard Hearthco moons the best of anything so far. being Magtech makes since, I picked up a couple million of them off the floor of an indoor range that only sold Magtech ammo there... thanks again, mike
  9. did a search but was unable to locate anything on a 38 spl headstamp, it's CBC - 38 spl, any clue as to who the maker is? thanks, michaels
  10. Of all of the matches in NorCal, this is one not to miss....we saved the really good weather for this match and the stages are going to test you. I've seen some of them (designed one and will build it) so don't forget to be there. And I know, you're looking at the round count and thinking, 150?, can't be much shooting there, well, 150 will probably get you through the middle, it's gonna be a good match. The Marine Corp is going to be there to help and I wouldn't want to disapoint the devil dogs. We expect a good showing of wheel guns (real guns) at this match, so mark it on the calendar and send your application in early, this one fills up. The Richmond Range was the site of this years Golden Bullet Championship, Californian Cup IDPA State Championship and the ICORES Southwest Regional Championship, so expect to see some really good stages and lots of local GM/M class talent out there. mike sousa
  11. that's gotta be in dog years, right? we luv ya cliff..... michaels
  12. you can't miss him, he looks just like BerKim, maybe not as tall.... michaels
  13. I'll be there, gotta keep an eye on the boys from the west coast, they tend to get a little wild sometimes... mike sousa
  14. I wouldn't say you helped me.... I would blame you completely. Now now, Clifford, you paid your money and you took your chances, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, only you are in control. But I'll still buy... michaels
  15. So, Cliff are you a definate in? See you in the bar I'll be there...someone has to be comic relief Cliff, since I helped you screw up a stage at the IRC, I'll buy you a round in the bar for you... michaels
  16. When I checked with Dawson, they advised to send them the front sight and they would find one of their fibre optics that was the same height and make the necessary adjusts to the base. It was add $10.00 for the extra file work basically. Scott @ SDM Manufacturning said if he had the gun inhouse, he'd mount a fibre optic on it. I had talked to a gentleman about a year ago who was in the process of casting a brass V-Comp with a standard Dawson front sight cut milled in the V-Comp shroud. He was going to offer different weight comps with different sights. He had planned on a model that would have ports behind the fibre, far enough away to keep them from getting melted or blacken. Increase in sight radius was in .50 increments. Last phone number I have is disconnected, but I have his name somewhere and may try to track him down this week. michaels
  17. Videos of Cliff will be coming soon, and if we can bleep some of the audio of him singing in the moon check station (porta potty), that will get posted also, but it was good to see lots of the BE forum folk out there. We did change Carmoneys name from Mike to Mark for his stay in California, but thats another story. Mr. Speed E Rack and his wife were an awsome addition to match, they put on a great show for us. Great shoot off, 17 shots in like .17 seconds from some of the worlds best steel revolver shooters, that alone was worth the price of admission. And yeah, Nils is got a little brother, most of us got just got moved down one more notch.... michaels
  18. uniquetek.com - install their system to your toolheads, it takes up all the slop in the heads on the 650 where they slide into the press. OAL changes are not a problem any more. Cheap and easy to do. michaels
  19. I've got both, the 5 " is for IPSC/ICORE and the 4" is for IDPA, the 5" seems to be eaiser on me and the follow up shots are better with it. Other than that, both are good guns, they each have their purpose, IDPA rules limit me to a 4" gun... michaels

Kevin, after countless phone calls today and being told that "I can order them for you", it appears that ALLGLOCK.COM has them in stock, you can match up your followers to the pictures on their website... michaels

Doctor Doctor... Go for the ones that hook onto the springs, they seem to do the best job, they don't wiggle around as much. For the 10 rounders, I took just a little off the bottom of the follower on all four cornors, Lets me get 10 rounds in there without breaking my fingers. That little bit of cushion lets my 10 rounders set in the gun eaiser when I barney up... I've been trying to order 9mm followers and everybody says they are outta stock, really hard to find any for the g21. 40's seem like that's all thats out there... michaels

So now I'm not supposed to let Erik near your old gun/sights? wuz up with that? you never warned me about that (that's ok though, I broke the sights a little while back and stuck on a set of hiz viz till I replace them with lpa probably...) mike sousa
  23. Dave, next time don't take it apart....spray with brake cleaner, blow dry, hit with a little oil & replace the whole thing back in the gun and you're good to go for 10,000 rounds... Yours is an older one if I remeber it right, those buggers run really good with just a little lube... michaels
  24. Thanks guys, got the cap off the brightness dial and the battery was replaced...didn't even need the little hammer..why not just print BATTERY COMPARTMENT on the friggin top... Sight works, zero is in place, it lives on a 22 cal G22 Walther rifle, works beautifully on that gun. michaels
  25. yeah sounds right, but short of a 2lb hammer, I don't see that cap coming off... michaels
