  1. Kevin, can you bring it by on Friday? The Glock guys should (Chris & crew) should be there to help Gunar and myself, they should be able to fix it... michaels
  2. ya know, you shoot with John and you start to think he could do it with his eyes closed...I can't believe TMC at 15th...Todd, did you check your score sheet, must have been an error.... mikey
  3. [ You mean like the "Performance Center Guns" the S&W guys laid out on the table at the 2004 Steel Challenge (about 15 feet from Randy Lee's table, ironically)?....judas priest I've seen Swingline staple guns that had better actions than the stuff the factory thinks is good. I've got one of the PowerShot brushed aluminum staplers that I was thinking of sending down to Randy for a level 4 job... I'd go to a seminar if Lisa was teaching, maybe S&W will do one and let Julie instruct... Randy could do a segment on "what not to do to your gun" and I could see the Master of the Universe teaching "Zen and your moon clip" yup, sounds like fun well back to shooting poorly, it makes danbagger look good... mikey
  4. Ok, we need a really good caption for this photo - we need it before these two guys head back east to terrorize revolver shoots next weekend. Remember, keep it clean in case young childern or the elderly see it. michael sousa
  5. [ All serial#s are 666. the last batch were 999, what gives Dave? mike
  6. Mr. Carmony – I believe you have found my stolen Hearthco moonclip for a 625, it was stolen late last year. We have made a police report of the theft and later a ransom note was delivered, saying that if I didn’t pay up, they would drown the clip. I turned the case over to the FBI, but all leads had disappeared until your discovery of my Hearthco moonclip. I know this has to be our little ‘baby’, and we look forward to its return. It’s very easy to identify this clip, it’s black and has 6 slots for 45 acp ammo. At the time it was kidnapped, it had 6 empty cases in it. I will be dispatching Dan Carden to pick it up and bring it back home (remember, all HearthCo moons start out on the west coast) Mr. Carden will be authorized to provide a small reward for your troubles. Thank you again for finding little Hearthco moonclip #666. Michael Sousa
  7. nah, don't worry about Todd, I'll be scoring, he never checks his score sheet... It's that Cliff guy we gotta do something about, maybe if we can get him off the "light" beer crap and into some heavy West Coast Ales, that will take care of him... mikey
  8. Interesting note – we just had a level 1 match in Morro Bay, site of the upcoming IRC, this was a production/single stack match. I was tempted to shoot the match with a 627 in the production class, but I couldn’t find a holster that would work and I couldn’t imagine keeping my usual 8 speedloaders behind the center line, because of production rules. What made the match though was the prize table, about 10 guns were given away. One of the donated guns was from a local gunsmith, not only did he donate the gun, but it also included his action work on. Lots of people wanted that Glock 34, I heard some people say they’d prefer that gun over the high end Infinity prize gun. As I gazed over the prize table, the thought of winning that Glock 34 seemed like the best deal in town. Unfortunately, it was not my day for winning a gun, but some lucky soul got himself a tricked out G34. Turns out it was our own list member Randy Lee who donated the gun and his talents to some lucky shooter. What a guy to donate something like that... Now would you rather have a Randy Lee Glock or a big bag of Hearthco moons…. Hmmm, that would be a dilemma…. michaels
  9. Kevin, it was all in how the door was reset, we were the test group for that stage on Friday, our first shooter got to reshoot it four times before we got the door to work ok. It was a little tricky to get the bars holding the door up to release when they were yanked by the falling poppers. That was the stage that had to be reshot by 45 plus shooters on Saturday due to a scoring error discovered by Dave Antonni. Doing it all in one day was a little too much for most shooters. We did it in mid 80's temps, and we had a lot of debugging to do. Were you lucky enough to have the #3 plate take the #4 plate down for you? Kicking it was our favorite way of making it go down, but it put you into a bad shooting position, the first few times it went down, up came a cloud of dust, made it very interesting... I really did like the stage except for the perfect double I got and didn't get credit for... michaels
  10. yes they are worth the money if your loading session is at least 400 to 500 rounds long... not really in the time saved, but in the convience factor of not having to stop the press to load tubes. now I know that some folks will buy 20 tubes and load them up while watching the news....that's great if you have that much time, for me, just fill the rf100 tray up and start reloading. Some hints if you get one, put it in a plastic container, mine is a cheap plastic container that I got from Costco, it had cookies in it, nice cookies at that... take the clear plastic top off the rf100 and store it somewhere not to get lost, use a small plastic tupperware like containter to pour the primers into, a couple of hundered at a time, (i do 300) and without the top on the rf100, just pour them into the tray area, takes about 5 seconds. Insert your tube and hit the button, if they jam up just before going down into the pickup tube, just push the tube up against the bottom of the rf100 and the vibration will usually clear the jam. The cookie container is really important, sometimes you will spill primers and they just fall into the cookie container to be retrieved later... I like mine, but it is a pain to swap back and forth between large and small primers. michaels
  11. In talking to John Amidon, he advised me that he had purchased a used 625 and gear to compete in the rev division to see what all is going on here... This should make things interesting in the months to come... Wait till they change the rules and make us go back to things like 'factory grips' only and such...then the howling will begin... where can I put grip tape on my 627? michaels
  12. Effective January 1, 2007, rule D is revised to: D. Any barrel other than an unaltered factory barrel or an unaltered factory replacement barrel made by the revolver’s manufacturer. Alterations to the barrel other than what is required to safely install the barrel are not permitted in Limited Division. (Revised 2/16/06) Now where does that leave people who have purchased a "new" limited run gun from S&W dealers (Lou Horton for example). Lots of Horton guns have had one off type barrels, from the factory. But you are unable to get an exact replacement barrel from S&W should you need to. I know that if I sent a 4 inch 610 back to S&W and asked for a 5 inch barrel, they will take a longer barrel if such exists, and cut it and install it for a price. Then does it not become a factory barrel? I've had barrel changes done and I've seen some really odd barreled guns, that came from the factory, but you won't find them listed anywhere in catalogs because the production run was special ordered. This could be a rule that will have some holes in it down the road. michaels
  13. Remember that you’re playing run & shoot - not hide & shoot this time…. you'll enjoy the change.... michaels
  14. Well the Level 3 Golden Bullet Championship match in over, and Dan Carden placed first in revolver 59th over all, followed by John Bagakis 69th overall, Vince Sargentini 108th overall, Tom Frenkel 125th overall, ah yes, my dismal performance netted me 126th overall out of 128 shooters...8 stages/182 rounds of fun in the sun.... Dan made a good haul, there was a payout instead of prize table, and plaques were given out to top shooters in a class. Only the top revolver shooter got a plaque, word was the match management forgot about plaques rest of the revolver shooters, so nothing has really changed in the status of the wheelgun…but it was a good match, and a lotta fun. michaels
  15. Mine fit just fine on a g35, just needed a little wax to get the brass part to seat itself inside the gun. Almost every mag I have needed a small about of base plate sanding on the sides to make them fit into the gun. I did find a couple of +2 base pads that just won't fit in the mag well. The part of all this that really is disturbing is that Dawson won't sell the magwell with the white insert installed, you buy the magwell, it ships with the black insert and you have to plunk down $20 more bucks to get the white insert. Must be the marketing guys needing to make a buck more for that Lexus... michaels
  16. John, I've watched the video of you on that classifer last weekend so many times now, I can feel your pain with the reloads...you sat there perfectily focused, you were standing up and drawing before the buzzer finished and the shots were just a blur, you can bearly see the rounds get ejected and then the hand switch and the fumbled reload. But I gotta add, it was a fantastic recovery on the reload and you still went on to finish the stage and kick butt...some day if you ever start doing a Dan reload, I think the open bottom feeders will start to tremble... I'll bring your copy of the video with me tomorrow. michaels
  17. Been using a sprinco in my 35/34/22 & 17 for awhile. I have a couple of different springs for different loads, practice vs match loads. Some people love the feel, others hate it... I had tungsten for a long time, but once I tried the Sprinco, I never looked back. Call them and talk to Alan, he'll advise you about the postive and negative of the system in a Glock. I've lost a lot of strength on my stronghand side and the "softer" recoil of the Sprinco lets me shoot a lot more. A couple of hundred rounds through my revolvers and I have to take a couple of days off from shooting. But let me shoot with one of my Glocks or 1911's with a Sprinco and I don't suffer later in the day. My wife shoots mostly Production/Single Stack with a 9mm and she noticed the difference with the Sprinco, and she weights all of 112lbs... michaels
  18. six plus one in the gun...if I need more, I'm calling in for an air strike... any more than that and I'd need help getting around the course of fire with the extra weight. some guys like Dan C. & John B. can get by with 3 or 4, they never seem to miss... michaels
  19. check the spent primer area under the aluminum ramp, if there is a spent primer hidding under there, it will press up against the shell plate. This will induce a drag on the shell plate and screw up the indexing. I had a small fragment of a spent primer in there and it drove me nuts getting the indexing right. Also inside the shell plate, where the rim of the case sits can collect junk and this will not allow the case to seat correctly. Just take the shell plate off and look for crap building up in there. Then again, the whole thing could be fubar, but I'll still give you $250 for the whole mess - michaels
  20. Now this thing says it's from the Performance Center...after trying one tonight, who's Performance Center is it from, DA pull from a Ruger Blackhawk....I'm not kidding, it was off the scale...The steel cylinder was not chamfered, and it spun about 3 revolutions before it came to a sudden stop, the rail on top gets in the way of your sight picture. You will need to come up with a new 2 handed method to open the cylinder, just pushing the latch doesn't do it, it takes both hands and a grunt to swing that cylinder out. On the plus side, it looks really cool with the bipod mounted on the front end... I wished the new owner of it tonight a lotta luck with it... michaels
  21. Well, it's on...had to upgrade the screw to hold the brass plug to the frame, the threads in the brass plug were not cleaned up from being tapped...same with the one that holds the magwell to the plug. Deceided to modify the mags instead of the magwell, so a little dremel time was called for. They all seat and release just fine. When Dawson was contacted about why I got a black insert when I asked for white, they didn't offer any explanation, just a 'you can order up a white one for 19.95'...it only ships with black'.... I have the weight for the whole thing, now I need to pull off THE magwell and compare weights....I do look forward to not slamming my mags into the brass magwell now, will have to do a little practice tonight to see if it's gonna be better... michaels
  22. Got my ICE today and it's not really what I expected... It's not really any bigger than the brass one from THE, it only attaches with 1 screw not 2 like THE magwell and it's not huge like the ones on 1911's...mine came with a black insert, I ordered white...this is the 2nd one that I got, the first was not the heavy model as ordered, so I sent it back. Been looking at how to get the insert out, no instructions on that...I guess tomorrow I'll call and see what's up with the black insert, black really makes it look like dark hole in there, none of my mags work yet in it, but then I had to do a little work on THE magwell when I first got it... michaels
  23. check out eric...if he made grip tape for a toilet seat it would be a must have.... just follow his instructions and the gun will be almost stuck to your hand... michaels
