  1. I used to use BlueDot a lot when loading 38 Super to major using 115's and 124/5's. It worked well, felt really soft. Never tried it in 9mm major, not sure you can get enough in to the case. For 9mm major I use HS-6.
  2. Had a EMP, it was ok but not a big fan of tiny pistols. Had a VIP in 45 and carried it for several years before I got rid of it. Currently have a STI Tactical with an Alum frame that I like even better. Might cut the slide back to Commander length (4.25")one of these days, not sure yet.
  3. I bought my daughter a Toshiba Netbook 2 years ago when she head for Europe to study. It has worked perfectly and has an exceptional battery life. I on the other hand am looking at getting a Tablet for travel instead of carrying around my 17" laptop.
  4. Winchester hardball works just fine ...
  5. I used to lift in the mid afternoon as soon as I got off work ( about 2pm). Now we go in the morning, as early as possible. There are benefits to both.
  6. I think the point that is being missed here is that the magazines are being modified to reduce their capacity. This is an act that some have deemed as illegal. Apparently some sensible gun carrier's in fact do reduce magazine capacity ...
  7. When using the 1911 in 45 acp you can use either 7 round or 8 round magazines as long as you use the same capacity magazines throughtout the match. Since the only difference is the follower and the spring and the industry standard is now 8 rounds why would this be any different?
  8. I have seen head shots out to about 20 yards, and partial targets out to about 35 yards.
  9. While that particular model is available from the factory they would have to produce at least 2000 units with the extended/threaded barrel for it to be legal. And you might still have problems with some match directors. I would send a picture to Robert Ray at HQ and hope he responds. If he does and states it's legal keep a copy of the email with you to show to MD's. Or you could just take it to a good gunsmith and have them cut and recrown the barrel to standard length.
  10. There is more information needed to give you a truthful answer. Do you have a picture of the barrel in the gun?
  11. What is the deal on the Dillon warranty on the older shooting bag ? I am going to be in Scottsdale tomorrow and have a couple that are in need of repair/replacement.
  12. For me, vent ribs with a fiber optic front bead are faster ...
  13. I much prefer the short open guns. i build them on a commnader length slide using a comp that is about 2"-2.25" in length.
  14. I have been trying to get a hold of BBI and their email address listed on the website bounces emails back and the phone number goes to a voicemail that is full. Are they still in business?
  15. we use the same load in my daughters glock 17
  16. I am right handed and left eyed, and normally shoot right handed. However about 20 years while taking a LE class the instructor challenged me to shoot the class left handed and I did. I still, when attending other instructors classes, regularly shoot the whole class left handed. I have every once in a while shoot small local matches left handed at least until I could get some side bets going. It is not as hard as it first seems, commit to it and do it. You already know how to shoot, you just need to slow down a little until it becomes more comfortable.
  17. The stages were excellent, the RO's easy to work with, the staff in general top notch and friendly, the freebee's to the vet's were a first class move, and several of the microbreweries had excellent beers. The wind and the sand sucked but I guess considering the theme, shooting in a "Sand Box" was appropriate. I will go again ....
  18. For the 1st 10 years or so that i shot Limited I used Winchester 180gr JHP's. Then I switched over to Moly 180's and about a year ago starting using 200gr moly's from BBI over WST. Difference is not huge but I like the 200's better.
  19. Not me, but I was at the match and remember the rule and the problems it caused. What's funny is that this 'issue' of nobody being able to clearly determine what the rules are continues to keep coming up and IDPA's refusal to do much about it.
  20. I knew Jim from when he lived in California and competed in the Hi Desert area. Sorry to hear about his passing.
  21. I used to do this all the time in both IDPA and USPSA. But, after having several SO's try to DQ me at sanctioned matches for the practice I finally got tired of arguing and gave up and stopped doing it anywhere.
