  1. NI-AG-ARA FALLS! Slowly I turned, step by step... Sorry I had a bad flashback. The match should run quite smoothly as usual though. No worries mate.
  2. Yikes!!! I found this for those interested: http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008...laws-experts-s/
  3. Let me preface this by saying that I believe the reaction of the authorities and the subsequent criminal charge was ridiculous, but it is our duty as responsible gun owners to know the gun laws of the jurisdiction we live in and those of areas we are traveling to. I hope that the guy is vindicated and files a lawsuit.
  4. Jack, thank you for posting this. Linda, we all were fortunate to have known Tim, may he rest in peace and may the Lord comfort you in your loss.
  5. Scott, Where did you get yours and how much was it, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks, Todd
  6. The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord turn his face toward you, and give you peace forever. Love you guys.
  7. I've heard that turf-toe was painful, but I think you've got it beat with mag-toe! Hope you're feeling better soon.
  8. I've done that dry firing in the bedroom without shoes........yeow!
  9. Last I checked they weren't up on the Steel Challenge web page. I tried to cut and paste them from the e-mail put it didn't work. They are included on the message as an html document or something. If you like, I can forward the message to you and maybe you can post them on this thread. My 'puter-fu is weak...
  10. Thanks Rob, but someone sent them to me already. I'm not sure why I didn't get them when Barb sent them out. Not to sound like a broken record but, man you can really self destruct in this game... I like IPSC more better! Yeah for IPSC, yeah, yeah!!!!!
  11. Did anyone besides Karl get the results? Nothing in my inbox yet... I guess I'll check again tomorrow, I've got to go to bed.
  12. Well, my first steel challenge match is in the books. Wow, did I really stink it up. I shot with Todd, Rebecca, Scott, and Dave O. to name a few. I believe that I put too much pressure on myself and then tried too hard. Not the way to go, I should have just relaxed and shot. Easy to say, huh? Thanks to everyone who helped out with the match and congrats to the winners!
  13. My slide stop is relieved but still rubbed on the follower tab, so I took care of my followers with the trusty dremel tool. I just found a bit that had a radius that was about the right size and poof, all better.
  14. Well put, I definitely agree.
  15. Saw it yesterday and thought it was very entertaining. They set the bar pretty high with "Batman Begins" but I do believe that they cleared it. I too thought that Bale was a little better in the first movie, but he was still good and still one of my favorite actors. I guess the gravelly voice was supposed to be a little melodramatic, after all it is a comic book movie.
  16. That is quite infuriating. It happens a lot in the DC area too. goosfraba.......goosfraba.......goosfraba
  17. Thanks for the compliments guys, it was my pleasure sharing. So true.
  18. Here's the video and I guess it's not as funny as I thought....
  19. Hope you get it worked out. Have a safe trip up and I'll see you there!
  20. At this year's Summer Blast there was a stage (7, I believe) where the shooter had to retrieve the gun from a small (about 4"x10") drawer/slot. I didn't consider this start position to be noteworthy during my walkthrough so I concentrated on stage tactics, focus, footwork, etc.. After the beep, when I went for my gun I jambed my trigger finger on the top edge of the slot. This didn't feel good and my hand sprung back as if I just touched a hot stove! After my second and successful attempt to get the gun, I guess my finger wasn't working too well and I cranked my first shot into the berm next to the target (quite quickly, I might add). While attempting to process everything that had just happened (not intentionally, my brain just started going through things on it's own) I neglected to make up the miss! I ended up just a tad behind the pace on time but had to eat the miss that I clearly "knew" about. I believe the moral of the story is to consider everything during the walkthrough, even things that seem innocuous or given. Also, (even though I pride myself on staying focused during distractions) do not let anything distract your subconscious from it's goal. I was startled by what happened and "got bit". It's funny to see the video (I'll try to post it later) and see me pull my hand back as if there was an adder on top of my gun!
  21. RO'ing all day Saturday and shooting Production on Sunday. I just don't have time to play around developing a load, testing the gun, re-zero it, practice, etc., etc., etc.....
  22. It seems to me that the phrase in question in used most often when the original point is so drawn out that the listener may have forgotten what was actually being said and has started to drift off. You know, kind of a wake up call that's used during a lecture. blah, blah, blah, ...that being said (hey wake up)... I think it's also frequently used to introduce a counterpoint (as mentioned by Aristotle, Steve, and JT). Not that you shouldn't hate the phrase though, by all means hate away brother! I find it a bit tiring as well, but I do use it in lectures on occasion.
  23. The two basic methods are the "pinch" and the "flip" (or a combination of the two together). The "pinch" is accomplished by grabbing the gun by pinching it with the stronghand thumb on the grip safety and the middle, ring, and pinky fingers on the frontstrap. The instant the gun is slightly lifted from the table you "pop" it into your firing grip (as if you would intuitively readjust after a bad draw). This way no downward pressure is put on the gun and consequently the mag catch. The "flip" is what Graham described earlier. You either pinch the grip as previously described or let your hand hover over the gun as you flip it up with your support hand fingertips. I use the back of my C-more as a flipping point but you can use the back of the slide or the edge of your Bo-mar or any other such place. If it's a stand and shoot stage I'd probably use the flip but if it's a grab the gun and run stage I'd use the pinch.
