    CZ Noob questions

Actually, when properly measured, it closer to 4.5" vs 4.7". For whatever reason, CZ doesn't follow the ATF guideline of measuring from muzzle to breech-face. Yep, yep. The difference in barrel length is only .225 inch, not even a 1/4 inch. It's 4.925 versus 4.7.

    CZ Noob questions

SNY, Both of my Shadows have Aussie barrel. The barrel doesn't really add/detract to/from anything and has mostly aesthetic impact. As a result of the minimally longer barrel, there maybe a faster velocity measurement -- maybe 5 to 10 ft/sec, a big maybe.
  3. Better hurry and find those stars and line them up. Com'on up.

    New magazine option

Got them, used them, and liked them. As always, thanks, Stuart.
  5. Does anyone know where I can purchase the "red" followers for small 9mm mags? Thanks.
  6. This rule probably gets enforced about as much as the "...arms hanging naturally by the sides..." rule, which is not frequently enough. With the exception of those who are new to this "hobby", people either have reading comprehension problems or are trying to cheat.
  7. Can't stand hearing incorrect USPSA range commands at Level 2+ matches. It's so f'ing basic and simple -- get it right.
  8. As far why, I'm not sure; however, based on my research, broken Bmar sights are not uncommon. The common breakage includes cracked top, near the pivot pin, and broken pivot pin. In regard to the front sight, I use .095 from Dawson and a "hybrid" fiber approach. In short, I keep the mushroom in-set and as small as possible so the lit-up fiber doesn't over-power the precise outline of the sight. In addition, I use automotive paint to black-out the top, exposed portion of the fiber to further tame the brightness. If I want to go all black, I can just paint all exposed fiber, but I really like my hybrid approach. Just enough light-up fiber to quickly see the sight and not so bright to obscure the sight-outline for precise shots. What is causing them to break or what is breaking?
  9. Infinity (Bomar cut) is working for me so far. Tried and have broken many others.
  10. Firstly, I do not have an SRTS on my CZ. Secondly, the level of precision of the handbook just is not sufficient, thus, leaves much room for interpretation. One can argue that the handbook-stated, visible/external modification is only applied when the firearm is in its static position. Or, when the magazine is not inserted into an SRTS-CZ, you'd never see any visible change even when the trigger is pulled as the gun will never go into single action. My point being there is ample room for a "fair" interpretation of the rule. Thirdly, in the spirit of fair competition, I just don't think SRTS makes a meaningful difference. Ergo, leave it be. Finally, please start a different thread, in a different forum to discuss the legality of SRTS.
  11. Spanky...it's a good thing you were just "loose" and didn't "lose". :roflol:
  12. Knee-jerk reaction? No way -- that never happens. I think this is one of those rules threads where people read the first couple of posts and immediately begin typing out a rant before they finish reading the other comments.
  13. I would love to try a Stock 2 with Stock 3 trigger. I have always thought the integrated magwell and front/back strap checkering are terrific.
  14. I've loaded up to 1.145 using 147gr plated.

    Cajun Gun Works

    David is terrific.
  16. Glad to hear. Just remember not to flatten it too much, which may cause the tension-pad to slip out when inserting the mag hard. FWIW...I flattened the center of the spring and then bent it again near the ends. This set-up gave me ample room to tighten/loosen the pad and kept the pad from sliding out of position.
  17. There's no need to shave the tension-pad. Just "re-shape" the plate-spring by flattening it a bit. I did that to all mine and now have plenty of tension range.
  18. Didn't measure the width -- can't do it either as I'm not around. I think that relief cut, and the side cuts, is more for aesthetic in that I haven't really noticed it in my shooting. The 45 deg relief cut on the bottom of the sight blade is helpful for hammer clearance, depending on the height of your front sight. I try to keep my front sight relatively short/low. I can measure the notch depth when I get home. You can also call Caspian as it seems to have a really good customer service. That looks like it might be what I'm looking for. Looks like it has a relief cut for a deeper notch too. Is it deeper than the champion?
  19. Lee...here is one. I believe it has a .127 width. I broke the stock Bomar/LPA from CZC and replaced it with this sight; so far, I like it more than the stock Bomar/LPA. http://www.caspianar...tegory_Code=SLA
  20. Chuck, thanks for the information. I actually registered since day 1. I just thought people from outside of A1 started to sign-up and get squadded. I'll wait for 12/15.
  21. I thought out-of-area shooters can't register until 12/15. Is that still the case? I thought Colorado was in Area 2?
