  1. The newer powder measures have a lock gadget which keep the operator from double stroking the lever.
  2. I tried to post a pic but the file size is too large. One thing to keep in mind. With using springs instead of the fail safe rod is double charges. The fail safe rod keeps you from going up twice. With the springs you can go up and fill the case, come down 1/2 stroke and go up again and fill. I think that is the reason for the change from springs.
  3. I run the springs too. I cut off the lock thingy on the powder measure, and took off that whole contraption. Lots less crap in your way, and runs much smoother.
  4. I never leave powder in mine, once I'm done for the day it goes back into the original container.
  5. I know this is a little old, but all you have to do is cut it in half. Takes a couple of minutes, I've done a few of them.
  6. I bought the UFO and the lighting was awesome. Then I had a double feed and the top of the extra case cut the light in half. I emailed customer service on a Sunday, and received a answer a few hours later. They gave me a new light and all I had to do was cover $3.00 for shipping.
  7. I think the micros are great, and I ended up buying another one for the large bar too. I record the setting in my notes for the load I'm using. I did have some issues where the little plastic strips would come out during calibrating different powders. I finally just put a bit of tape around the shaft keeping them from coming out. I do think these are great, and Ill probably start selling off extra powder measures since I dont need individual setups anymore.
  8. Anyone try that one that bearing rotary shell plate cam follower? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dillon-XL-650-SL900-Bearing-rotary-shell-plate-cam-follower/222384485888?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D40806%26meid%3Dd96fddf2ecda4507988babf8ef2d4aa9%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D321117491057
  9. When I had the LM I basically did this. I found that the issue was case handling. You need to tumble brass before sizing/depriming. You have to pick up small handful of cases to feed the press, the case feed is kind of slow to load and frequenly had feed issues. Now you got them sized and deprimed. Then you have to handle each case again to hand prime. Now you have to handle them again to feed the press. After a few thousand rounds of this you think to your self there is got to be a better way. It's too slow for a progressive machine, and not much better than the Lee turret. The good new is they make machines that will solve all these issues. It's amazing how well they work.
  10. I started with the FA and they warranty replaced 3 tumblrs for me before I had enough. I picked up an old midway tumblr and it has been pretty good. I saw the Cabela's tumbler on sale for $40 and it has been great. Its been going for 2 years now and it is quieter and faster than the midway. I don't run lids on my tumblers - never bothered with it.
  11. I was having similar issues with the case gauge sizing. I was convinced the sizing die was down as low as it would go. Desperate to try something, I caranked it down a little more and now they all pass without issue.
  12. Good idea on the zip tie, but removed that bracket.
  13. is it dragging/getting caught on the shell plate? Ive had that happen before.
  14. For the levels I shoot it was just easier to load on the LCT even though I have the conversion. I did make an extended power die so I could use the dillon powder measure.
  15. One thing I haven't heard discussed in this thread is that you can slow down the 650 to 550 levels. Remove the case feed, disable the auto indexing and do things manually. Then when you get more comfortable, add the additional features in.......just saying, its an option. Then you also have the extra hole for powder check.
  16. The up stroke priming on the Dillon 1050 gets a lot of praise. I never used it so Ill have to take their word on it. But the up stroke priming on the LM is a disaster. No feel if you miss a primer, or if you get one sideways, or doesn't go in all the way. It got so bad on mine that I had to hand prime everything. The case feeder is neat, but requires lots of attention, lots of dropped brass but generally does what you expect for about 40 bucks. I never understood the hatred for loading primers tubes. It only takes about 10 mins to keep me going for a few hours (I dont speed reload) its much faster than chasing the constant LM primer issues.
  17. Dillon will replace the cracked case under warranty. Mine cracked and I wanted to buy it - they sent it to me for free.
  18. I was using the large plate for 9mm and seemed to work pretty good. The problem I had was once the 9mm dropped from the plate they would turn sideways and jam up in the funnel. I had to get some kind of adapter thingy to fill in the gap. I now have the small pistol plate I use instead, but it came as an extra with a press that I had bought. I never tried it with 380
  19. I agree, don't really trust it yet. I was shooting blazer but had lots of light primer strikes. I took the firing pin out and cleaned up any burrs. Got some better ammo and it has been 99% - it would be nice to run some rounds through it and not pay $20 a box.
  20. In just picked up the 380 bodyguard. I've been trying to decide if I'm going to load for it. It would be nice to load up 1000 or so to run through for reliability.
