  1. Thanks for the reply Bob. I should've stated I was interested in a limited gun but I assumed that a given since I'm posting in the Limited Gun section. I already have a Edge in 40 that I use for paper matches, but I also shot a lot of steel matches and was thinking of getting a gun just for that. Bob, I hope to be giving you a call soon.
  2. I'm thinking of the short frame version for steel matches. Does anyone have one and how's it running?
  3. I was looking at the rules and didn't see anything regarding scoring of minor or major pistol calibers. Are they going to follow USPSA/IPSC rules or are they scored the same? I'm going to shoot in the Tactical Scoped class and just read I can't use my Ghost holster for my STI Edge - bummer. I've been shooting for 2 years with my holster and mag pouches in the front. Now I'll have to practice with them at or behind the point of the hip.
  4. I didn't see it on their website. I guess I'll have to call in the order. How much are they going for?
  5. I used some light bearing grease I use for my mountain bike and the noise is almost gone.
  6. It's got to be the older kids. Last year I had some so called kids knock on my door. When I opened it, they said "What's Up?" and expected some candy. I just closed the door without saying anything or giving them any candy. This year I left the bowl out with a note so I can take my kids around and I wasn't expecting the bowl to still be there when I got back but it was and it still had some candy inside. I just hope these idiots don't vandalize my X-Mas lights this year like they did last year.
  7. Ditto on the blue loctite. I've never had a problem with them coming loose.
  8. I've had good luck with this one http://store.yahoo.com/cdnn/arunfronconp.html I've been using it on my machine gun for over 5000 rounds without any problems.
  9. I called those guys up in April and ordered one for my 650 and they said it will be 6 weeks. In May, they called me up and told me they stopped making them because people were having problems with them and more R&D needs to be done. I asked to be put on their list so I can get one when the problems are resolved but haven't heard back from them yet.
  10. Wow, didn't know we had photo critics here too. It's all good. Constructive criticism never hurts. I'll make sure to fix the tilt (drunken stance) before making another print. The picture was taken off the shore of Kona in Nov. 2000. I'm way over due for another Hawaii trip.

  12. I got to our weekly Tuesday match late and had to shoot 3 stages after the sun went down. Even though there are stadium lights, I couldn't hit the side of a barn. I usually make to top 40 out of the 120 plus shooters but this time I got in the hundreds. I guess my eyes are getting too old to see the sights. This could be my excuse start shooting open or for shooting so badly.
  13. Scooter, Thanks for the heads up. I was just about to buy a Pod-loc for $30 delivered and didn't even think of buying the parts and make one. I'll check out the local home improvement stores to see if they have those parts.
  14. I think it helps. I don't shoot rifle or shotgun too much but I shoot a lot of pistol matches. When I shoot at the local rifle/shotgun matches, I usually do as well as my friends that mainly shoot rifles and shotguns. Maybe shooting a lot of pistol matches just helps me get into the right frame of mind and let's me practice movement or maybe my friends are just no good.
  15. Oops. I guess I am wrong. I just checked JP's website and it's purpose is to reduce the recoil. I would be curious to try one if it really works. I already have a Miculek comp on a 20" and I though that setup had almost no felt recoil.
  16. I wonder about the need for a light weight carrier. A M16 can shoot 650 rounds per minute on full auto. That's over 10 rounds per second and that's with a heavier M16 carrier. Most of us can't shoot a semi that fast but I'm sure a standard weigh carrier can keep up with us.
  17. Ya, I noticed that too. Just to be different, I decided not to add the first letter of my last name. I was surprised that name wasn't already taken.
  18. doing it with a poor performance. I had 2 good stages, 1 average stage, and a failure to engage a target on the last stage (+5). BTW, I'm only in C class.
  19. I carry a Kimber officers size. Same controls as my STI Edge with a narrower grip for concealment. I also have a STI VIP and only carry it if I can wear a vest or coat to help to cover up the fat grip.
  20. I think these followers are still in the R&D stage. I remember the owner of Magpul saying they design will probably change depending on what the testers' inputs are.
  21. I'm thinging of getting into 3 gun matches. I currently shot open pistol and rifle, but have a limited shotgun (Rem 1187). I'd like to shoot in the open class but can't affort a new shotgun right now. Can I still be competitive if I add a B-Square and a red dot to my shotgun? I see JP adds a recoil eliminator and ports their barrels. Do these features make a huge difference? Will only having 8+1 compared to having 10+1 be a great disadvantage?
  22. From reading Erik's observations, it sounds like a useful device to adjust the rate of a full auto M16. Would you guys agree?
  23. Does anyone have any input about the quality? The price sounds good but not if it is crap.
