  1. Markaveli, haven't you learned anything yet? Even if you don't re-size new brass, you still inspect it before loading...Sheesh! Well well well! The eye a cola of Grump ollah! Lol.. How's it going! Well I did learn! The hard way!! I "NOW" check flash holes and still size encase! But I still let a few slide through!!!
  2. Once you pass the initial start to loading the rest shouldn't be that much, as long as you buy in bulk that will help with the loading cost! It might cost you a little it might cost you a lot the point is its gonna cost you! Lol!!
  3. 47, Do you have serious or big problems with media getting stuck in primer pockets? And when you deprime your brass would your deprimer pin clear the flash hole of stuck media?
  4. I would clean with walnut media and polish with corncob and let em ride! Cleaning primer pocket on a progressive! What's that? Lol...
  5. +100 Maybe we should get MythBusters involved. I've loaded thousands of 40 S&W, with all kinds of brass. Never had the first separation from any brass. To me, the Glock bulge is just an identifier as to what gun fired the round, which I really don't care about anyway, cause I'm gonna re-size it and shoot it anyway. Glocked Shmocked, re-size it and shoot it. SO GLOCK SHMOCKED! The redding GPX & THE u die are a not needed piece of equipment for loading .40 cal? and the dillon dies will do fine? I got a Glock .40 cal I will be loading for?... In my experience, I have found that the sizing die cannot really be fully responsible for the job of removal of the Glock bulge. It just doesn't size down the case that far. The single die in a common 4-die set that has close to that capability is the crimp die, oddly enough. Some of the reloading die manufacturers (Lee for one) will tell you that if you end up with their factory crimp die as your last station, that die does resize close enough the case rim to often remove the bulge. I buy alot of law enforcement and range brass that has the bulge. My fallout rate (cases that wouldn't gauge) before was around 3%-5% using a Dillon crimp die. At the tech-guys advice from Lee, I bought their standard Factory Crimp Die. Now I'm way under 1% from the same sources. A buddy had a bunch of rounds that wouldn't gauge and we ran them through the FC die only and about 90% would gauge. At about $15 from the wholesalers, you can't beat the price. I'd have paid more than double for what its done for me. My fallout rate is so low now that I don't need a GPX. Also, just FYI but my sizing die is a Redding Titanium Carbide which just feels great but also doesn't remove the bulge. Its been a minute since my last reply and I must say that grumpyone was right! I been loading .40 cal's over a month or two now and kicked out 2k so far with no problems using my dillon dies... And yes case lube is your friend! Until I come accross a chambering problem then ill just invest in a u or a grx sizing die!
  6. For sure it sounds like you want to load progressively, cause you haven't mentioned a single stage they do have em at cabelas for 130.00 lee clasic setup! But nothin like a Dillon progressive! Youtube the 450 and 550B and why not the 650 hell even the 1050 since you don't plan on loading in other calibers! If you youtube you can see em all in action, and don't forget to look at the faqs here, or email or call Brian he will take the time and help you on your quest on finding the right Machine! Good luck on your search and be safe, oh ya My 550B runs like a bat out of. Hell! If I can just keep up with having my supplies stocked up! Lol...
  7. Thanks a lot Cali, I was going to brag on how many caliber conversions I got and load for, WOW! 21 caliber conversion's !!! Sheeees! Lol.. I load on a 550 and I load for 3 calibers, yes cali only 3! Damm 21! And it does save time and money once you pass the initial start. The caliber conversion,s are a bit cheaper but more then other presses. And it also helps keep things organized on your bench! I recommend em and I like how it quick you can remove and install the quick change is, the only thing like Cali said is to check or adjust the powder measure after the initial set up of the dies you are good to go! Not sure if this will help out but good luck on your reloading setup!
  8. bought 2K bullets from them today......We are good to go ....... For powders, look into Alliant Power Pistol, cheap, clean, and easy to work with. + 1 on Senior Gumpy, I like the 180gr cause I get a better accurate loads then I do with 155gr. Loads, and 155gr bullet is a bit snappy! Alliant is cheaper, I seen it at cabelas for 17.99 a Lb.... Good luck finding the right load data, oh ya read your Manuals, as many as you can find read em! Be safe....
  9. Ill admit I have let several pieces of brass run threw my machine, I recently a piece of brass missing the flash hole and I can see that the defective brass put a slight bend on my deprimer cap pin! No biggie I rather resize and have a sense of comfort that all is well with the brass! The brass can be chucked new or used if there is a defect in the brass! For me I personally feel why shoul I chance it... That's just my opinion!
  10. While I do agree, I don't think my wife will. Having components for a gun I don't own will just make me want to buy another gun, and even worse, one I don't have any real need for. Since I just bought a new Audi A4 three weeks ago and had the computer flashed on it two weeks ago with a performance tune, got the 550 last weekend, and am up for my one year anniversary this weekend...I'm going to be single again if I don't put the brakes on the spending! A4 is a nice set of wheels you got I'm sure, I'm a fan of the A8's, any hoo,you should get her into shooting and buy yourself a nice 45ACP! If that don't work two things you can do; 1.)Tell her a neighbor down the street is moving and needs to sell his 45 cause he needs the cash and say you got it for cheap! 2.)Buy it and bring in one piece at a time! Lol.. 75% of the time, it works 100% of the time, every time! Lol... Sometimes when I'm cleaning up ill find a new pair of shoes or an outfit from Macys or makeup & jewlery so again, don't cheat yourself treat yourself!
  11. Welcome to the forums and good luck with your search for your load data!
  12. Welcome back Brad! How does it feel to be a newbie? Lol... I couldn't log back in so I emailed Brian and he just set me back up with a new password... Any way good to see you back!
  13. I'm in the presses of buying a house, until then I do my reloading in my apartment bedroom! I don't have a garage and my kids are lectured daily about playing in "THE LAB!" I lock up all my powders and primer also my live rounds in a lock box, any powder that I have spilled I vacuum up, any lost primers I put THE LAB on lock down untill it comes up from being missing + I don't wonna blow my Vacuum! I also do my loading inside cause my powderes and stuff are allergic to humidity and moisture! @ bart would a HEPA Vacuum eliminate some of the leading in the air or keep it at a minimal? I also put fabric softener to keep down the dust some does that also help with keeping a lead down? @ bs I'm sure the Forum Gods will move this for you! Lol... Ohya welcome to the forums!
