  1. Looks like something to print and store in the range bag.
  2. Since this seems to be something that is relatively new, at least in enforcement, and it was deemed worthy enough to point out to ROs before the match, one has to wonder why competitors seemed to find out only after being dinged. There was one RO that seemed specifically interested in watching from where Production shooters pulled their start mags. If ROs were told to specifically watch for it, so should have been the competitors. If a RO says to a competitor when he walks to the line "I see you've already got your mag in your hand" isn't he going beyond the proper RO commands?
  3. Great match this weekend! The stages were challenging and a lot of fun. Everything was well-organized and ran like clockwork. Great group of shooters on squad 33 too! While I certainly didn't shoot as well as I would have liked, the match was a blast and that's what it's all about. Considering that 2 weeks ago I didn't think I'd get to go to to a knee injury, it's even better!
  4. Lots of discussion about this at Area 8. Easy to avoid, or not, this is something that needs to be explicitly noted in the rules. There's a whole bunch of shooters who had never heard they could not get their LMR mag out of their front pocket. To be suddenly told "it's a new rule" harms the sport.
  5. Don't put that loose barney round in your front pocket either.
  6. I was also recently told that placing the mag in your front pocket after "if you are finished.." also constitutes a bump to open (from production) since the COF isn't over until "range is clear." I see folks doing that a lot.
  7. This past Sunday at North Mountain, I was last shooter on last stage of the day. I got off 5 shots when my left knee suddenly gave out, with a great deal of pain. I managed to stand back up (keeping safe at all times) but could not focus on shooting the next target for the pain, and fear of falling again. I surrendered and quit the stage. Today, I can finally hobble around fairly well, though the knee has given out a few times. X-rays and MRI completed, and appt with orthopedist set for next week. Initial diagnosis is the issue is "degenerative." Great. Won't know until next week what the rest of the story is. But what truly sucks is I'm registered for Area 8, in just 9 days. Right now I don't see that happening. I must add that my squad mates were super. They gave me ice, made sure I got my gear into my car, and even brought my car to me. The match directors even checked up on me the next day.
  8. Kevin, I can empathize. That's got to be the worse pain. Had it some 25 years ago. Chiro, pills, epidurals, nothing helped. I left a fist sized hole from frustration in the wall of the rental house we were in. Finally spread to BOTH legs and surgery couldn't be ignored. Surgeon actually suggested I try whiskey to numb the pain in the weeks before the surgery. Back in those days we were sill biting sticks during the procedure. :-) After all these years, the legs are generally okay, but my lower back reminds me frequently. I still get twinges from time to time. My advice is DO NOT ignore it if you don't get better quickly, hoping things will change. I came close to not walking again due to scar tissue build up. Serious stuff to ignore.
  9. The "wiggle your toes" tip works for me, although I still have not yet conquered the nerves. I don't think I've gone to a match yet that I didn't think "Why am I doing this?" as I drove to it. But once there, I calm down. Another thing that helps is I try to smile at the end of every run. (I don't let on if I'm laughing at some goof up I made, if it's because of a good run.) Smiling helps with keeping positive. Another thing that has helped me is I've started asking squad mates if they would record some of my runs. I watch those videos and try to find one thing that I felt really good about, and remember that before the next match. It may be a really smooth draw and first shot, or a fast mag change, or quick transition to next position... whatever it is, it keeps the focus off the negative.
  10. Great match! Never been to York before, what a nice range! Folks are nice too. The match was great with lots of really fun stages. Loved the "house" stage. Kudos to everyone involved for an effort well done. Afternoon was HOT, but no rain.
  11. Thanks for all your hard work on this. I was impressed by how fast the results were posted.
  12. Great match! Sure, I would have liked a few less Mikes, and better execution in my part on some stages, but it sure was fun. Kudos go out to all the volunteers who made it happen. It was a well-run and executed match. Thanks to all involved!
  13. I'm probably one of those people. My classification has been updated since I registered. When I picked up my VA/MD Sectional packet today, I was still listed as a "U". Anything I need to do?
  14. waktasz, the classifications were updated on the website this morning, and indeed, the USPSA membership expiration date was updated as well.
  15. Classification database was updated this morning.
  16. Well, that's that. I'm done checking.
  17. How soon after the 10th of the month do you start checking for updates?
  18. Hopefully it will be updated online before next weekend's VA/MD sectional. :-)
  19. waktasz, I'm in the same situation; not expired yet, but not showing new date. I did receive a new card in the mail that shows the correct date. I've been waiting until after the classification update. So, it's not just you. :-)
  20. The Surefire timer will not work on iPhone4. From what I've been able to find out, due to changes in hardware, none of the shot timers work on iPhone4.
  21. It's called a "killer whale" for a reason. It's only doing what nature designed it to do. I doubt it's swimming around missing the darwin winners who get in the pool with it. :-)
  22. Thanks BE! I'm pretty sure that wasn't fun. :-)
  23. Can't offer advice, but I can commiserate. I'm running into the same thing. Also in my first year. I've gotten over the big time nerves, and the gun doesn't shake so much these days. But, I'm experiencing mental breakdowns giving FTEs and procedurals. Last week the stage had seven pieces of steel. Directions were to shoot left 3 from left box, center 3 from center, right 3 from right. Beep! I stand in the center box and shoot left three. Didn't even know it until RO told me at end. Then yesterday, during the walk thru, I noted a target low right that was out of my view while engaging the other paper and steel targets (from left side of a wall.) Sure enough I didn't shoot that target; two mikes and a FTE! Ouch, that hurts. I'm not shooting that fast. Sad part is that I was very pleased with my shooting the whole match. So, you aren't alone. Maybe it'a 7 month itch. :-) Looking forward to seeing what other folks say.
