  1. Stuart, Nice thought, but you cannot even weld up an over cut hammer notch. The weld would be to soft to hold for very long. I hear you on trying to use a hard piece of steel to solder in place but again the solder just would not hold up for very long. Just go to Numrich and order a new hammer will save you a load of time and just make your life easier not having to worry about it failing in the future. Depending on which model you have a new hammer from them would be between $15-$25 plus S&H. Good Luck, Dan
  2. Get the Burkett IDPA video. He has lots of little tips that will make a big improvement in your IDPA skills. I had RO'd for 2 years before watching the video and still learned a lot. Dan
  3. Have any and all work completed before hardchroming. then send it to Tripp excellent work and turnaround is 8 days. Whatever he charges to do a top end is very reasonable. Dan
  4. I had some construction guys working on my house and asked them Why they all had yellow I have always liked my milwaukee. They said that in "torque fights" they attach drills to each other hold on and and see which one strips out first, the milwaukees almost always win. So, I asked why they all had dewalt answer- if the break you can exchange them, rather than send them back for repair. take that for what it is a story from construction guys.

    amazing quiz

That was funny. I don't know how people find this stuff.
  6. I think that lens choice should be made individually and based on what you are trying to see. I use orange lenses, and a green f/o front sight. Orange makes anything green stand way out. The green f/o looks like it has a battery its so easy to track. This is only what worked for me. Try a bunch of different colors out with different colors of front sights make sure you are pointing the gun at cardboard so you can see the contrast of sight against target. I found one combo that looked great until I had the front sight on the target then I could barely see it. Dan
  7. Erik had bumped this thread back to the top but I thought it nice to have Brian's exact words here. enjoy
  8. I remember our host talking about it here before. I remember him saying that when done properly the hammer will not cock, the radius has to be cut on the same arc as the sear moving away from the hammer hooks. I thought he also said it will last much longer than a traditional setup and there is a little creep but it is hard to feel when the trigger is under 1.5#. Hopefully our host will respond to this thread and tell us his dark secrets on the rolling trigger.
  9. I am using 15# ISMI main with ti firing pin and svi XXXqb1 hammer never had a light hit using Win small rifle even used CCI mag rifle primers without problems. I do feel the lighter mainspring reduces muzzel rise, but not recoil.
  10. if you are going to buy a second sight might as well get the wilson that you can easily replace the blades and buy extra blades. You can experiment all you want and go back and forth without replacing the entire sight if you want to try something different.
  11. Paul, I haven't seen any replacement blades from bo-mar out there (and brownell's doesn't list any). Wilson you can buy replacement blades I don't know if they would fit a bo-mar or not. you could email bomar and maybe they would sell you a couple blades you could just send the blades to you smith hack up. Bo-mar's web page good luck
  12. We had a stage where you had to draw shoot a couple targets lay down your gun grab a dummy drag him to cover use another placed gun to finish the stage. The dummy was weighted to about 75-80 lbs. in retrospect maybe we should have been warning people. A few people almost fell over one guy landed right on top of the dummy. He now gets made fun of for molesting the dummy every time we get dummy out.
  13. Last pic eye up finger in the trigger guard? WOW.
  14. OK I just got off the phone with IDPA HQ: IDPA: IDPA HQ how may I help you? Me: I was just calling to ask if you had an update on when the new rule book would be available? IDPA: Nope. Me: No idea when it might be ready? IDPA: Nope. We don't know when it will be ready. Me: The last time I called you mentioned it would be done next month that was 3 months ago, You don't have a guess? IDPA: Nope. Me: Is the new rule book going to be in effect for this years Nationals? IDPA: I don't know. I can't answer that. I don't know if it will be ready then or not. Me: Thank you for your time. IDPA: Your welcome. click So, IDPA no help.
  15. I was wondering if anyone here knew when the new rule book is going to be out. The last time I called (April) I was told March first. I am working on a gun and would like to know what all I can do to it and keep it legal. Thanks. Dan edited for spelling
  16. There is a similar paradox in Golf the better you are the less swings you get in a round. That is what I keep telling myself when golfing "hey, you are just getting your money out of this round" Dan
  17. I always thought the only way to shoot IDPA tactically correct was commando but maybe Rhino or anyone else that is inclined to reveal their package should stick to the desert cammo thong
  18. My 45s springfield, Kimber, and Les Bear get feed any kind of brass I can find and I keep feeding them until the cases split. I have a friend who will even shoot the split ones from his Baer. I have never heard of any 45 being damaged by any kind of brass. If you're unsure I'd be willing to "check out" all that brass for you Dan
  19. mcoliver , I run spybot search and destroy. you can use it to get rid of spyware and you can change security levels to block downloads or to prompt you before downloads occur. big plus it free.
  20. I love to go crabbing.
  21. While on the Ford vs. chevy thing, how about his one: Eating up Rams Shitting out Chevys
  22. American Rifleman did a show on federal, showed them taking from raw brass to loaded ammo. The plant looked like any modern manufacturing facility (big ass machines stamping stuff out). The machines did not resemble anything found in a dillon catalog. When they would show a close up you coukd see the same functions being completed, but the machines were huge. Dan
  23. google tool bar caught all but one for me as well , and my spyware blocked 2 downloads. Amazing they can pack all that crap into one web page.
  24. God invented pavement so yuppies could go four-wheeling.
