  1. It really helps to have a T-handle allen wrench and a little heat and should come right out. How much off is the spring plug? just a little, sand it down. Alot, sure it is not a reverse plug? I'd give Tami at SVI a call she'll get you the right breachface pretty quick. She is very nice to deal with.
  2. Here is another fun shooting game. Bin Laden's Liquer Store After 2 rounds my high score is 55,000 I am sure this will be beaten.
  3. Ron, right click on the link then click save target as. This will save the file on your computer for multiple veiwings. enjoy.
  4. I have one in mine I think 2 coils is about what I cut off mine.
  5. If the pistol functions fine and slide locks back 100% leave it in. Most people just hit the slide stop anyway.
  6. here is a nice explaination from TGO: Ask Rob recoil is very subjective. I prefer a snappy recoil I feel i can get the sights down faster and the timer tells me I'm faster with lighter bullet and fast powder.
  7. I read that as they are not legal. Dru says " extended=full length" meaning if the dust cover is extended at all it is considered full length.
  8. Why replace it? I have been doing some corn media torture testing. So far I have tumbled about 10,000 cases at 8 hours per tumble, and they are still coming out looking better than new brass inside and out. The media is basically black but it is still working. I usually put a capful of dillon polish in with each batch. I know 8 hours is excessive but you should see my shiny brass, I can tell if empties are mine before bending over to pick them up.
  9. I didn't cut it yet. I figured I'd leave it long until I go to a major match then cut like I wanted to. I don't think anyone would say anything and if they do I will just argue it is the same length as brand X. I think springfields are the longest but one of these days I will get down to the local dealer to measure all the brands. I'll post a pic of my gun when I finish the cocking serrations, Should be next week. Dan
  10. Unfortunately I did not keep the email to copy and paste here, but I recently emailed HQ about a gun I was building. I started with an SVI extended dust cover I was planning on cutting the dust cover off on an angle to match the cocking serrations. I told HQ the top of the dust cover would end up being 1/8 in longer than standard but the bottom of the dustcover would be of standard length. I asked if this would be OK. Dru's response... no way!! "if we let you go over by 1/8in someone else will want to go over by 1/4in." So, I don't think the idea of anything shorter than full length is going to fly. The thing that burns me is the variance between manufactures dust covers is more than the 1/8in Dan
  11. The out towards the ejection port worked. Slave pin was needed. Dovetail sights all in R-L and out L-R but all the pins go in opposite. I didn't want to assume anything, considering it was a sight with a pin. Thanks, Dan
  12. mcoliver, I am willing to bet if you polish the top and bottom of your trigger shoe your reset problems will go away. Be careful not to remove much metal as the trigger will have up and down play then. Usually you don't need to do the frame contact areas but you can. Brownells does sell stones to polish the trigger tracks but I have had good success with some 600 grit sandpaper wraped carefully around a small square file. Dan
  13. I figured Erik could answer this question easily. I have a wilson sight, which direction should the hinge pin be drifted out? I am going to serrate the blade then refinish the entire sight with black gun Kote(teflon). Thanks, Dan
  14. I have never personally seen it but apwcogan.com offers a black chrome. I thought it sounded pretty cool, for a black gun;).
  15. racine, I'd read Wil Schuemann's moly warning before shooting moly bullets from a pistol. http://www.schuemann.com/ click the moly warning at the bottom of the page.
  16. Maybe I am missing something here, but I didn't think there is any reason to "sandbag" in the IDPA since there are no prizes. If someone wants to sandbag in the IDPA just to see his name at the top of a class, let him/ her try to feel good about whooping up on lesser shooters if they can.
  17. I was just interested if anyone would share thier favorite 9mm 125 power factor loads for IDPA ESP. I personally like a snappy feeling in my CDP gun 155 or 185 grain bullets, and I haven't gotten to play with 9mm loads yet to determine which way to go. 115 with slow powder vs. 147 with fast powder. I would like to hear how you think your different loads "feel". Thank you for your input
  18. I was just looking through a ky imports catalog and noticed they have pre-ban PO P-16 factory original mags for $89.99. www.kyimports.com
  19. I have that bushnell rhino listed above and love it. I got it as a quick fix for my AR until I could justify the price of an ACOG to my wife. The scope has held up very well keeps its zero when changing reticles and it's zero has never drifted. I would highly recomend it to anyone.
  20. I love my Bulman Gunleather SBS-2 it has the speed of Kydex but is as gentle on your blaster as leather. It is basically a kydex holster lined with leather not pseudo-suede like the wilson. The suede has a tendancy to trap crap and scratch your gun. Here is a link to Bulman's holster page scroll down to the SBS-2. Bulman Gunleather- Belt Holsters
  21. j1b, Now ready to get really pissed off? You can still buy new wilson 10 rd 38 super mags. Wilson makes them only for brownells. I just checked the brownells web site they are listed for $ 29.95. ps. I posted this not to piss you off but to let everyone else know they are still available.
  22. Rufus, I think all the scheuman barrels are short chambered and need finish reaming. Except his AET barrels which are supposed to have a finished chamber. To be certain I would call or email Will Scheuman. His email and phone number are on his web site. Yes he actually answers the phone and is easy to talk to.
