  1. I shoot the limited pro in production locally and love it. With several thousand 9mm rounds thru it, no complaints. I have been thinking of going to a SA trigger and a magwell would speed up reloads. Can you run a magwell in production class? But also thinking of going to Limited if I make those changes. Very accurate and well balanced.
  2. I am also blind in my right eye. And have poor vision in my left eye. It is correctable by eyeglasses. I forced myself to learn how to shoot left handed. Now it is natural. I shoot pistol right handed with my left eye and rifle/shotgun left handed. I have found that a red dot was the easiest to use mainly because you can look around the smaller Aimpoint or C-More to acquire the next target. That has been my biggest challenge. Finding the next target without looking outside of the scope. Problem is that a red dot is not the best for long distance. I have just switched to a 1x4 scope with a good clear field of vision and am working on learning how to use it and acquire targets thru it. It is somewhat of a challenge, but I am slowly figuring it out and actually starting to prefer it over my red dot. Good luck.
  3. I don't know about one breaking apart, but the DD 1/7 barrel does seem to shoot well. I have never checked the MOA vs MOM @ 200 yds. but we were shooting & hitting the small round flashers at 300 yards and hitting them with 55gr PMC and 75gr Wolf match ammo. They were fairly flat shooting with very little hold over. That is the longest I have shot. My buddy was shooting a 1/9 with the 55gr PMC's and he was also hitting them with no problem. I have shot 62gr reloads and 75gr wolf regular cheapie ammo and they are all over the place. So it does pay to try different ammo until you find what the barrel likes.
  4. Not to hijack this thread but I have a 16" Daniel Defense barrel with a 1/7 twist. It seems to shoot 55 and 75gr well at long distances from 200 to 300 yards. I guess my question is does the 1/7 twist have a negative effect on the lighter grain bullets? Will it not stabilize them as well or does it just shoot the 75gr better than a 1/9.
  5. That is the Briley mag ext.to make 10 total in the mag.Works very well, no problems or issues.
  6. All of my tinkering has been plug and play, it runs too good to starting messing with it too much. I just put the 26" barrel on and it should work pretty well. Here are a couple of pix.
  7. I bought this used and it came with the booklet and 3 chokes. Should I have also gotten another piston? I looked online at a few places and no one mentioned it coming with another one. I have the Flanigun SX3 and it came with the extra piston. I thought they all did, but it looks like this is the only model that does. It is for light 1oz loads.
  8. I run a Win SX3 and have the 26" barrel and a Briley plus 10 mag extension along with an extended charging/bolt handle. The mag ext is even with the end of the barrel. I took my Dremel and smoothed out all of the edges on the fork and have had not problems with the loading gate, but I think welding it is in the future. I have a nylon 6 shot shell holder on the stock and a Tactical Tailor universal sling. It works well. I use the lighter piston with 7 1/2 birdshot and also shoot slugs with it out of an Invector Plus IM extended choke. Great gun.
  9. Ken, I shot your 3-gun @ Orange and it was the first true match I have shot where you used all 3 guns on a single stage and it was a blast. Probably my favorite. It was an easy transition from gun to gun and really made you think and react. I wish we had more true 3-gun stages at other matches. I know it must have been a lot more difficult to set up and design safely.
  10. I am new at competetive shooting and 3-gun in particular, but it has become my favorite next to USPSA just for all the reason everyone has stated and the challenge of getting proficient at each of the weapons. Why not a class/division for the average shotgun whether it is auto or pump. I am a bird hunter and most shotguns are plugged. Why not just let people remove the plug and run what you brung. So you have to reload more. Everybody has a bird, deer or turkey gun. A 5 shot mag is not going to compete with a 10 shot open shotgun with an optic, just like a single stack 45 or a 6 shot revolver won't compete with a unlimited open gun. Every gun and division has it's challenges. I love to watch the revolver guys, but it is not something I could shoot. That is how I got started, took my bird/trap gun and modified it so I can shoot tactical. Probably not a great suggestion, but we have all types of shooters and guns at our matches. Bring in the beginners and let them have fun.
  11. Why do Sharks swim circles around you before attacking? Two great white sharks, swimming in the ocean, spied survivors of a sunken ship. "Follow me, son." the father shark said to the son shark and they swam to the mass of people. "First we swim around them a few times with just the tip of our fins showing." And they did. "Well done, son! Now we swim around them a few more times with all of our fins showing." And they did. "Now we eat everybody." And they did. When they were both gorged, the son asked, "Dad, why didn't we just eat them all at first? Why did we swim around and around them? His wise father replied, "Because they taste better without the poop inside!"
  12. Just want to give you heads up...Hunters outlet has the Eaa that dont have the updated top end! if you want the problem of the lugs, you can buy it and wait a WHILE! for Eaa to replace it. CHOICE IS YOURS.. My Gold is a 2007 Eric in .45cal. what is the issue with the updated top end and lugs? Mine runs flawless.
  13. I sent an email asking about what happened to these and got a very prompt response saying the same thing. What I can't figure is why they aren't even listed on the web site. BTW, they have a 3x magnifier for about $100. I question the optical quality at that price. Anyone have any first hand knowledge? I have shot their 5x Primary Arms magnifier for about 6 months with my Aimpoint and as far as I can tell the optical quality is very good. The dot is big and at 100 plus yards covers a 10-12" flasher, but I have no problems hitting it and I have shot it out to 200 yards with good results. I am not sure how it compares to Eotech and Aimpoint magnifiers. I think they pulled the flip mount off the website because they have not been able to get a delivery date on the next batch from whatever factory in China makes them. He told me they don't want to take back orders and mislead people. I talked to them 3 or 4 months ago at the big gun show here in Houston and they seemed very honest about their products. I bought a cantilever mount from them for my Aimpoint in front of the magnifier and it is very good quality and never loosened up or caused the Aimpoint to lose it's zero. I would not hesitate to buy from them.
  14. I've seen good reports on their stuff, but they no longer list a flip mount. For some reason the only two choices I've been able to find are Larue and cheap junk. You are right, when I spoke to them at the local gun show they said they were having problems getting the flipsight mount. The flip mount I have is not a Primary Arms, just the magnifier. I would have to look at it to see what the brand is. I bought it off a guy on Texas gun broker.
  15. I have used the Primary Arms 5x magnifier and their flip mount behind my Aimpoint with with good success out to 200yds. Check their website out. I know it is knockoff stuf, but it works and seems to be decent quality and they stand behind their stuff.
  16. Happened to me on my Win SX3. Looks like the same trigger ass. Only problem I didn't know it happened. My son cleaned it after he shot it and put it away for the next shoot. Stepped up, pulled the trigger and nothing, no click no nothing. Really embarassing. Took it to my gunsmith cause I had no idea and he said he knew exactly what was wrong has had several in with that same problem. He pretty much told me to not pull the trigger ass out when I clean it each time as it is not going to get very dirty just after extreme use and then to be really careful with brushes and such when you do clean it and give it a little bit of oil.
  17. Are you saying that a SLP barrel will work in my SX2 Practical? I have been told by one source that it won't and another that it will???? Have you tried it? I am looking for a 24 in Vent ribbed for mine also. Thanks, Doug I spoke to 2 different CS techs and neither could answer if the FN SLP barrel would fit. The only ones they were sure would interchange are the SX2-3 and Browning Silver.
  18. I am not too worried about the finish, but will a FNH SlP barrel fit my SX3? The 24 would be perfect. Or what about the Browning barrels? I went online and have found a bunch of 26", 3.5 chamber barrels, and I am not sure about them working. I am going to call Win service and see if they will work or where I can buy a standard 26. Thanks for the help. I contacted Winchester Customer Service and they were very helpful. The 3.5 chamber barrels will not work. The SX2 and Browning Silver 3" are interchangable. They were not sure on the FNH SLP barrels. They did have one 26" SX2 barrel with th Invector Plus choke threads in stock in a blued finish. I bought it. This will be going on my SX3, shotgun for 3 gun comp. I have a Briley extended 10 shot mag and this barrel will match up perfect.

  20. Those pics are so tiny I can't see very much. Maybe its a .38 Super mag? Could be a 38 super mag. Sorry for the small camera pix. I have not changed out the follower or spring in this one. It is always my first mag loaded and runs perfect. All the rest of my mags are blued with front spacers. 3 or 4 I have drlled out the front spacer and used new springs and followers and the others have the front spacer still in it with new springs and followers per Hennings reccomendations. These all work well with no issues. I have a couple of the newer style rear spacer ones and have had a couple of problems with them not locking the slide back on the final round. They feed good, but I just haven't had time to mess with them. If they send these with the gun, why can't they be purchased? The mag is marked 9mm.
  21. Anyone have or know where I can get a 26" or smaller barrel for my SX3? I talked to Briley about having it cut/threaded and the cost is about the same, but I would lose all of my Invector Plus chokes, they only cut and thread the barrel for their chokes.
  22. I have an SX3 and the load gate was rough and did not feed easily. I took my Dremel with a fine sanding disc and rounded or smoothed off all of the corners on the feed gate and it works much better. I also replaced the follower with a SS Briley one and polished that up. I did not mess with the top of the entry, but that may be my next project.

  24. I've never seen a stainles steel (SS?) mag, only blued and chrome. And you are saying this magazine does not have a spacer in it? No spacer and might be chrome. Here are a couple of pix.
  25. I am also fairly new at this and the one of the first lesson's taught was plan your re-loads and never let the gun run dry. I shoot production and on occasion open. With 10 in the mag you have to be conscience of your reloads, but I carry 4 mags on my belt and load my 5th. Depending on the round count I always try to leave 2 in the mag and reload while moving between the target arrays. As someone said it is free time. When you are carrying 20 plus rounds what is the benefit of taking a chance on running out on a stage. With 4 or 5 mags on your belt with 20 plus in them, why would you not reload freely during that free time and not go down to the last couple of rounds. When I shoot 3-gun and load 16 per mag I have even less worries about running dry, I will drop a 1/2 full mag between arrays and especially the last array just to make sure my round count is on and I didn't have a brain freeze. I try to never get to a group of targets with 1 or 2 rounds to spare at the end. It also gives you a cushion in case of a failure. This is all based on your gun running correctly.
