  1. Which stage is that? Stage 8. Blocker looks closer to the plate rack than what I originally thought
  2. I believe the reason for knowing your bullet path out to 100 is because of the blocker that is on one of the stages that we will be shooting thru. Every round that hits the blocker is a no shoot penalty. If the target is at 100 but the blocker is at 50 ...... Gotta know where to hold to go thru the hole and hit the target.
  3. I'm not complaining about the shooters bags. I was simply stating what I've noticed over the years, price has increased on the AM side to shoot it. I have no complaint in the random draw prize table, it is what it is. If I was to complain about a prize table it wouldn't be about one that everyone got to see.
  4. I'm going to chime in on my thoughts and what not. I missed the first one, shot the second, missed the third and worked/shot this past one. I finished where I thought I would this year. I shot AM because prize table doesn't mean a lot to me really. I helped or a bit with the table on sat night until my name was called and I picked up a Cerakote branded Oakley bag and went to bed. I noticed a lot of the AM shooters would pick something up and then continue to walk the table for something else. I noticed a couple opening boxes as well. I don't think that is appropriate, if you pick something up, go with it. Tru spec donated 2 pair of shorts, an embroidered Polo Shirt and 2 embroidered t shirts for us as range officers to wear while working to look uniform. I think we as staff looked great and the clothing although dark in color were not hot in temperature. I spoke with a couple various shooters that have attended the various years and listened to what they had to say. I asked them about the shooters bags and made the comment of "is it the normal stuff as in years past", and was told no and they were disappointed. That lead us to talking more about the bags and what we received in the past. In years past the bags were reusable range bags from the NRA with other stuff to include mugs, knives, flashlights and other NRA branded items. Multiple magazines from brownells.com and magpul. This year it was just a plastic shopping bag with pamphlets, a single magazine and some other small things. Not like there had been in years passed. I just think that the excitement for this match is up there but sometimes it falls short. I know how much effort that Gary puts into the match designing stages and making sure it will all flow properly. It just seems that it's missing something lately that was there 2 years ago. I think that's all I have to say for now but if I think of anything else I'll say it.
  5. Pull the handle down and it works a cam that pushes the swager into the primer pocket.
  6. I just went thru a 5 gallon bucket of rifle brass. Out of that bucket I had 1300 reloadable pieces of LC, 300 pieces of FC, 350 pieces of PMC and not sure on the other counts as I didn't count them. The LC got processed and traded to a man for a stainless steel tumbler set up. I was hoping for 2k of LC but that didn't happen. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  7. There is a LOT of surplus mil brass that is shot. I sort out LC, PMC, WW,Winchester, FC, and Rem for the most part, after that it all goes into the odds and ends pile. LC,WW, and the odds and ends pile gets swaged. The rest usually gets sold in group lots to guys without a swager.
  8. What is faster? One well aimed shot, or two quickly to center mass? You figure it out
  9. Personally I'd call Nate at Ft Daniel in Lawrenceville Ga, he has been my point of contact on multiple things to be done. When I get back from Maine I'm taking him another bolt carrier group to do. He is building all his AR's with both the bcg and the lpk's done. I've seen a couple of Sig's, Beretta, and a couple whellies done as well.
  10. When dealing with like alloys a piece of forged aluminum machined to the same dimensions as a piece of billet aluminum will be stronger. Notice when comparing a billet aluminum piece wether it is an upper or lower to a forged piece they are usually not the same alloy because different alloys have different strengths. In order for a billet receiver to have the same strength as a forged piece they use a different alloy and the billet piece is usually thicker in key areas to keep the same strength. It's really an apples to oranges comparison.
  11. If you use a 60 round surefire, you may want to rethink the gen 2 Noveske
  12. Dillon super swage Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  13. Stainless steel tumblers have no dust
  14. The rule states "while standing relaxed", if the start position is hunched over that's on stage designers......standing relaxed is how the 3 feet is measured.
  15. I have QD flush cups in every long gun. Guns are tools, if I need my tool to perform a certain job, I have no problems modifying the tool to do it. I just ordered 2 from Jeremy at Shooters Source....they work slick, although they don't allow the swivel to rotate. When you install the cup make sure it's in a position that you want your sling swivel to be.
  16. The slippery slope there is that they don't allow larger that 7 round mags anywhere……because that is all some states allow. Sorry, bud, I don't see that one happening. In all seriousness, an SBR is only an advantage in the pro-series type matches where the distance is limited. I guarantee you that if they threw in some 300-500 yard shots, Horner would go with his longer rifle and still kick butt. You could always move to Texas. This came straight out of an AMU shooters mouth this past weekend......I love this gun, I shoot it at most 3 gun matches since most targets are close, when things get out over 350 or so I go to a longer rifle. He was shooting his 12.5
  17. What really do you expect from someone that is always on 11, and a Maineiac?
  18. Here is a million dollar question..... After talking with Rob R at TFD he said that he won't allow any RO's shoot for score in a match, and that he would just pay the RO's and have them get whatever from sponsors. Granted that was concerning the pro series RO's. Will RO's for these matches be able to shoot for score and points?
  19. Have the magazine tube and piston nickel boron coated......
  20. Not all of us. Hurley This has been beat to death...BUT, while the RDS and even LPV don't provide an (or much) advantage on closer targets , or even longer ones that can be seen, they both provide a decided advantage shooting from awkward positions IMO. It's not just awkward positions, it's an advantage to just throw a rifle up and see a dot on brown and pull the trigger than to line up a pair of sights. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  21. I normally shoot irons, but with their rule set that they have I'd have to shoot tac optics because of how funny the pistol rules are. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
  22. Yup, people get mad at me sometimes because the stage brief says one thing specifically, port of arms.....I'm kinda specific of what port of arms is....but everyone is going to start the exact same. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
