  1. I love when my phone goes off when I am taking the browns to the superbowl ...... my ringtone is "Let me out I am trapped in your pocket"
  2. I did a similar thing on a stage, was a 2 string stage, 6 targets, 1 round each, mag change one round again. First box went fine .... moved to the second box and forgot to put a fresh mag in my pistol at the start of the second string. 1,2,3,4,5, slide lock (WTF), mag change, 6, mag change, 1,2,3,4,5,6. Man I was pissed the RO looked at me and just said "Im glad that you changed mags again or that would have been a bunch of procedurals". I learned, make sure you put a fresh mag in and not one youve shot out of.
  3. That there is a jesus clip ........ When it goes flying off you learn why its called a jesus clip.
  4. Thanks. I am getting pretty good at "ghost loading" the 930 so perhaps the longer extension is not necessary. My match directors don't have a problem with it. When I ghost load it'll give me 8+1. Only problem with ghost loading is that if your MD sets up a stage to shoot 8 rounds then reload, then 8 rounds and reload, 8 more and reload. Your first one is fine if you are ghost loading, you shoot all 8 and still have one in the cahmber, so load 7 in the tube and shoot the next set of targets, you are now slide locked for the final batch of targets. What happens if you miss .... its messes things up even further. Ghost loading is fine before the buzzer goes off. Trying to ghost load during the middle of a stage is not so much. Its only a single round but that single round can compound itself over the course of a stage.
  5. Im currently running a 930 myself. I originally bought the "Special purpose combo" it came with an 18 inch barrel and a ported 28inch vent rib. I ran the 18inch for a couple of matches and it just had a bead sight on it and while it worked ok for birdshot it wasnt idead for 100yard slug targets. With the 930 SPcombo it was only a 5 shot .... talk about being on the short end of the stick and always reloading. Since then I have added an extended tube and can run 8 plus 1 like everyone else. And I ditched the 18 inch barrel for the 28 but I cut the 28 back to the first upright just past the end of the mag tube, which is about 22 inches or so. When I cut the 28 inch back I also cut off the ports as well that keeps me out of open. Downside of cutting the barrel is now I have a cylinder bore barrel and no threads for chokes. I may send it off to be threaded or I may just leave it alone and use heavier shot on the longer tagets. Only downside I see to doing that is if there are no shoots tight on the targets. I added a set of Tru Glo fiber sights to the vent rib and was actually out sighting it in yesterday with slugs. Was shooting a 6 inch plate at 100 yards with Fiocchi reduced recoil slugs. Now I like my 930 but I know there are still things about it that slow me down. Slide must be forward to load the magazine, but it doesnt always feed a round onto the loading gate and into the chamber if I load the mag tube and then hit the button for the bolt release. And cycling the action with a full mag tube doesnt always kick that first shell out. So I have learned that I need to take the first round and throw it in and then hit the bolt release and then load the mag tube. Now wether you should sell yours and change I cant say one way or another. I dont have the budget that a lot of guys do so I have to make what I have work. I run what I have and work around what I dont.
  6. Ill have to save my sister kissing story for Benning .... yall will get a laugh out of it.
  7. Im currently running a 930 myself and if you are only running 7+1 you are at a disadvantage from the get go. You are down one shot compared to most who are running an 8+1. Most stage designers will design a stage for 9 rounds. I would look into getting another extention tube which will allow you to run 8+1. By being able to run 9 in the gun it will cut down on some of the slide lock reloads if you dont miss. Also the idea of putting 2 rounds right there at the ejection port is a good idea as I have done it on my gun. I have also modified a butt cuff carrier to stick on to the side of my reciever with velcro which if there is a mix of slugs and birds on a stage it helps to keep an extra 5 slugs handy and not taking up carriers on my belt.
  8. I would give Mike Benedict a call at Talon Tactical, he does a lot of kydex. www.talontactical.com
