  2. Thanks Gary thats the first time I've laughed all day! Respectfully, jkelly
  3. Cosby, I'm guessing that the Match Director might have an inferiority complex. Respectfully, jdkelly
  4. It seems that this is a somewhat ambiguous rule that needs another line to clarify its meaning. Gabe, You might want to call as they don't answer all e-mails. Respectfully, jkelly
  5. Phil, This had been a very enlightening year for me with regards to IDPA, it's leadership, rules and the partisanship of some of it's supporters. Even so, I had never given any thought that elite USPSA shooters were targeted by IDPA SOs. But with the recent T Butler DQ fiasco and now your statement, I'm wondering how common the belief of being a "marked man" is among the USPSA elite? Excuse me if I misunderstood or "projected" in to your statement. I do that some times. Respectfully, jkelly
  6. Perhaps you could try dropping your recoil spring a lb or two, Or maybe your main spring the same. Respectfully, jkelly
  7. My pickup truck has a hole in the rear of the bed in which the the shaft of the wrench used to lower the spare tire must pass. I had the bed of my pickup replaced after getting hit in the rear quater. Eight months later while doing my pre-hunting trip check I discovered the new bed had no hole. Respectfully, jkelly

    The Package

I solved it the frist time with more then six minutes left, but I'm not sure how. Respectfully, jkelly
  10. Sure, why not try a match or two (if they let you) it's short money and all you lose is a day of practice. Maybe join for a year if you enjoy your first experience, it could happen. Respectfully, jkelly
  11. I think over the last three years I've shot about 65% IDPA and 35% USPSA. Most of my practice time has been with IDPA equipment. Respectfully, jkelly
  12. In the few years that I've shot IDPA and USPSA I've often found a bias in those shooters who only shoot one or the other. The IDPAers seem to think of themselves (and IDPA) as the purest derivative of "Practical" hand gun shooting while viewing the USPSAers as out of control and dangerous. The USPSAers seem to see themselves as the highest evolution of "Practical" shooters, while viewing IDPA shooters as overly rigid and sloth like. Most crossover shooters seem to see the fallacy in both these views. Personally I feel that the problems we see between IDPA and USPSA have less to do with their shooting philosophy then with the make up of the governing bodies. One has an election process that gives the appearance of equality among shooters. The other is done by decree of it's owner, with input of selected members, and is seen as less representative of the members at large. At this point in time is seems that the USPSA shooters (and those shooters who were damaged by this years rules changes) see the IDPA rules fiasco, Nationals DQ and the large drop in revlover shooters at this year's Nationals as evidence of poor leadership by the few. They are unlikely to let it go. As both groups look down upon each other the animosity between them grows, and it's not likely to be solved on BE.com. Respectfully, jkelly
  13. Wow, well said in a very smooth manner! Respectfully, jkelly
  14. You're here now and posted only a week ago, so it seems you will post here. I think it 's the partisian statements that IDPA insiders sometimes make, often in an angry dismissive tone, that dull many axes. Of course suggesting that if people don't like the rules they can leave have not made IDPA many friends. And some alias never seem to be able to post a negative one.jkelly
  15. I guess the problem some of us have with this issue, while not actually knowing what happened (and not being told by those who do, like you?), is the thought that punishment should have happened as the transgressions happened to include any judgment for DQ before the shooter completed the match. It worries me that being "impolite" and "bad form" ( a Shooter-Nazi for a change ) would enter into the discussion of DQing a shooter, as it's a little to incestual for my tastes. Knowing now that such information was discussed doesn't lend credence to your statement that this isn't about "getting" a shooter. I think part of what you may see is a general loathing of what is seen as partisanship expressed here on BE.Com by IDPA/Industry insiders. Respectfully, jkelly
  16. I don't know what actually happened. But from what I've read here it sounds like Mr. Butler should have been punished for his fax draw and turn. I would guess 3 seconds sounds about right. If he was gamming the match and breaking the rules through out the match he should have been penalized when he broke them. What bothers me is that he was allowed to start and finish stages but wasn't DQed until a meeting that was held the next day. I think what ever they decided he needed to be DQed for, the deed should have been done the day he shot the match, with him there to respond. To do it any other way just doesn't seem right. Respecfully, jkelly
  17. FreeIdaho, If you really think they are "stealing" perhaps you need to "rat" on them. Yeah that's what you need to do, the rest is just talk! jkelly
  18. Carmoney, I just checked the IDPA Nats and found that the revolver divisions are down 16 shooters from last year, 32 down from 48, which is a 33.3% drop off. Last year there were at least 10 shooters in each of the four SSR classes. There are no revolver classes with 10 or more shooters this year. If this years classes in each of the two divsions were added only EX would have 10+ shooters. Bummer win your division/class at the "NATIONALS" and don't move up. Well at least there are twice as many classes to be won by only 2/3 the number of revolver shooters at last years Nationals (all better then me though). That's not bad, 25% of this years revolver shooters will win their class. Perhaps things will get better next year. Respectfully, jkelly
  19. I thought both Vincent and pisgarifle were relating their personal experiences within IDPA, to ozzy1038. I saw it as them letting him know what to expect should ozzy1038 decide to join IDPA. I don't think they were blaming IDPA, rather they were explaining how things are in IDPA (I could be wrong). It is very difficult to explain to a new shooter that their equipment may or may not be legal depending on which SO you talk to. Respectfully, jkelly
  20. Thanks for the heads up RGS, after seeing your post I went home and cut the tax checks.. Respectfully, jkelly
  21. I'm just trying to be diplomatic. To be other wise is to be deleted. Respectfully, jkelly
  22. This is interesting. There are 15 less revolver shooters in this years Nationals then last year (-31%), with Master down 4 (- 40%, even with BW helping out) and Marksmen are down 5 (-50%). Of the 6 Masters 5 are "Industry" shooters. Of the 5 MM none are new to the sport with member numbers of 12,000 or much less (4 or 5 years of IDPA membership I think). This makes me believe (guess) that the drop off might be disgruntled members swithching divisions (as Hop suggested, or leaving the game). It could also show that the expected influx of new shooters in the SSR division hasn't had time to happen yet. Any thoughts? Respectfully, jkelly
  23. Regardless of whether you follow the complete IDPA rulebook or filter out rules considered weak or poorly written, you need to know the rules. A shooter rationalizing an error by saying, "That's how we do it at my club" is really saying, "I haven't bothered to learn the rules". That shooter is not likely to be near the top of the finishers anyway and I think that holds true for most of us. If you know the rules you won't get dinged. If you don't know the rules then you will be dinged. Respectfully, jkelly
  24. A drop off of over 33% can't be correct after increases of 23% and 25% the previous two years. I would think that not all the ESR/SSR shooters are signed up yet. Does anyone know the split of moon clip guns to non moon clip guns at last years nationals? I've got to believe that there are at least more non moon clips guns this year then last. Respectfully, jkelly
  25. I guess that's the difference between you and I. I'd treat a complete stranger with more respect then you would your girl friend. Some might think that's the ugly part of America. Of course that's just my opinion. jkelly
