  1. ATI is not as good as JP or anything like that. More similar to JRC I think. Easy to build one yourself. That way you get what you want. With the exception of the barrel from PSA, I used a DPMS smooth side upper I had laying around, got a Glock lower from Runner Runner Guns in TX, ramped bolt (CMMG I think), went with the MVB SMG type stock as it includes a 9mm buffer and dual springs, JP comp, dropped in a Timney 3# trigger from my backup 3-gun AR, and an AP Custom CF handguard from my parts. 2 Steel Challenge events and 2 outlaw steel matches and no issues firing every round so far. Only ammo it has not liked is Remington 250 RD yellow box reloads. Runs fine even on aluminum case CCI/Fed.
  2. The usefulness of LRHO in the shooting sports is highly overrated.
  3. I custom built my AR-9. I think the bolt is CMMG, its ramped anyway and supposed to work with any AR trigger. I dropped in a Timney 3# out of one of my ARs and its functioned flawlessly in 2 Steel Challenge events. After 2 events I am classed in A in PCCO, and soon to be Master. I flat love shooting PCCO. My barrel is one of the PSA LW SOCOM profile ones. Lower is a QC-10.
  4. Since the paper entry says either Limited or Open (only 1) I guess that means we can't shoot and pay for both?
  5. If the July SC at PNTC was sanctioned I would have been at 94.1% in RFRO and would have made A in RFPO. Mainly due to my improvements in OL (which won't help me at Guthsville). Since I am so close to advance in both RFRO and RFPO, and pretty close to M in PCCO I think I am going to shoot the same two divisions in the July Classifier at Guthsville, RFRO and PCCO. Time to push on those 2 before somebody really good gets into the classes( ).
  6. I think it means that as time goes on and the best scores get lower and lower the peak times will change and while your current rating won't change you will end up being farther from the next level unless you improve also. I actually think something changed in RFPO as they hit 7/4 because my score current percentage and my previous percentage show a reduction of 0.43% since they announced the peak times.
  7. OK. I shoot the rifle better in SC than the pistol (same in NSSF). Because at 68yo I can hold the rifle steadier and can get more leverage on it in transition. On 7/4 I will be Master in RFRO but only B in RFPO (however based on todays match I think I will likely move up to A in RFPO very soon). Now my buddy/teammate Mike S. (43 YO) shoots both about the same (likely will be GM in both as he can shoot S&H in the mid 7s with both). As for comparing RFRO and PCCO I will be in A in PCCO after only 2 matches with it as the skills are basically the same although due to weight differences I tend to shoot PCCO using target sequences that reduce the number of direction changes (un-official best in S&H with both is 8.66s in RFRO and 8.86 in PCCO).
  8. Ever watched Junior Kolby Pavlock shoot rimfire irons? He beat BJ in the NSSF last year shooting Limited, and had most of the best stage times to boot. As for RFRO the reason the numbers are not as low as RFPO is because the pros don't shoot the rimfire rifle (well BJ does but he does not shoot it in SC) so the best rimfire rifle pros are like Ron Oliver and John Nagel and while they are very good they are not Max, KC, or BJ.
  9. Those 3 days with Max really helped. I busted a 13.83 in OL today with RFRO which is almost 2 full seconds better than my best previous run. All in the foot work. Also went 3.5s faster in RFPO. In fact went faster in 5 out of 8 stages w/RFPO (4 out of 8 in RFRO). The next Peacemaker 8-stage SC match will be fully sanctioned. They met the last requirement from USPSA/SCSA this weekend. Because of major events like the Ironman East 3-Gun the remaining SC events in 2016 are the first Saturday in August, November, and December.
  10. And that is why I never go back to the state I was born in to shoot.
  11. Well as of Monday I will be Master in RFRO, A in PCCO and B in RFPO. I am pretty close to making Master in PCCO also. I was shooting dead in the middle of B for Open but had not shot any sanctioned matches in open since about 2010 when I was in C.
  12. Still slightly confused about the math part, Zack.
  13. Its pretty close to a number of hotels and motels. We got a reservation while driving down. Now that I have been down there for the state match I know where the good food is also.
  14. Duplicate, see 2016 NSSF World Championship thread.
  15. Isn't their currently or formally in the NSSF rules that if both divisions are allowed at a world championship that Open has to be shot first? It's been a couple of years since they had a WV with some shooting both Open and Limited Sent from my XT1064 using Tapatalk
  16. We had this discussion about the prize table with NSSF on here last year. The NSSF wanted random so more of the less skilled shooters would want to come. We talked them into keeping order of finish for last year at least. I was not betting they would keep it for this year. At the regional just last week they did the 2 separate draw method. Everything but the guns first plus awards, then a separate draw for the guns. Ended up getting early enough in the first draw to get ammo, in my case a brick of Rem 9mm while my bud Mike got up earlier for a Rem Bucket o' Bullets. Are we going to be able to enter both Open and Limited this year? Or just one division like usual?
  17. Wish I could try to finish 1-2 overall in RFRO and PCCO in the July SC at Peacemaker but they have not authorized the use of PCC in SC yet there. They do allow it in their outlaw Super Steel match because the target distances are longer. Going to use my chest rig with the 3 MP5 mag pouches on it
  18. Yeah I know about the holster issues since I occasionally shoot SS in SC. That is what makes it more amazing that Max shot a 6 second S&H in Florida in Production with a P320.
  19. Well for standing maybe. I routinely use 4-6 when shooting free standing rimfire metallic silhouette depending on size and distance. 6x is about the most I can use without it moving too much, but should not be an issue prone or bench.
  20. I know when I am ROing my cadence is the same, around 1-1.25s.
  21. Me neither. I shoot consistently right in the middle of the B range even with a draw of 1.3-1.5, probably due to all the steel matches I shoot as my transitions are very good. But I can get the shot off with a rimfire (and maybe PCC sometimes) before the beep ends. With a draw I can get my hand on the gun firmly when the beep stops. But I have above normal reflexes also, although at my age I am not sure how much I have slowed down (68yo) since those days in the lab at LASL.
  22. Not sure. Try contacting John A. on his company website.
  23. One match later with the RFRO/PCCO combo, an outlaw steel challenge match, six stages of which many were SC like and 2, S&H and Roundabout, were measured out to specs. Both guns are getting closer together as gap went from about 7 seconds down to about 2.5 seconds. I have discovered the key to getting the PCC up to speed is to handle the recoil while in transition. Results were RFRO 57.47 and PCCO 59.99. Shot an 8.86s w/PCCO in S&H only .2s off my best with the RFRO. Faster in 2 with PCCO and 4 in RFRO. I was the only shooter to go below 10s in Roundabout and I did it with both rifles. Did a 1.74 in S&H w/RFRO first time below 2.0. But in most cases I shot the stages with RFRO the same way I always did but with the PCCO I often shot a different order. I opted to eliminate direction changes whenever possible with the PCCO due to the weight being close to 2x the rimfire. So I shot S&H w/RFRO 4-3-1-2-S while for PCCO I shot it 1-2-3-4-S. and considering I shot it better with the PCCO for total time I will likely change to that on the rimfire, in spite of shooting the 1.74s w/RFRO. I just don't see any real difference between the 2 guns in spite of the weight difference. I also switched from using one 33 rd. mag in the PCCO to shooting 5 mags loaded to 10-12 rds., just like I do in every other division.
  24. Like I said I knew I was rusty having not done much drawing in a few years since I have been doing mostly rimfire and now pistol caliber carbine. When training with Max my 100% hit draw time was mostly around 1.5s with maybe a low of 1.29s. That was with the G34. I think I am a little faster with the STI but I am betting the difference is really minimal. Right now that .3-.5s interval is the difference between shooting below 10s on the faster stages and not. More practice is required, but you still have to maintain the 100% hit rate. Like Robby Orent used to tell me, practice at 100% speed and do matches at 80% speed. What he meant by that was practice at the fastest speed you can maintain and work on accuracy but shoot matches at the speed you never miss. Let the other guys get the misses.
